  • Daily rides: 160 - 335 kilometers / 99 - 208 miles
  • Meals: all breakfasts, 2 lunches, 8 dinners

You will start by riding on the south coast of Lazio, a very often neglected part of Italy by riders in a hurry to reach the Amalfi coast and Cilento. For example, Sperlonga, it is a very nice fishing village perched on a cliff, where you shall spend one night. Then you follow on to the Amalfi coast. You will visit Ravello and Positano, two major attractions of the Amalfi coast. You will stay overnight in the fishing village of Maratea before the ferry goes to Sicily.

During your rest day in Taormina, you can explore the narrow, twisting streets of its beautiful hillside villages. You will be shown a scenic ride around the mountains and Etna Volcano.

You will visit the sites of the ancient Greeks, The Valley of Temples, which encompasses the largest collection of ancient Greek temples and ruins outside of Greece. Mafia buffs will want to visit the historic villages of Prizzi and Corleone. After a lot of curves, you will reach Catania at the foot of Mount Etna where you will stop the tour with the last "granita" and a sweet croissant saluting the south of Italy and its colors.

Day 1: Arrival in Rome

Arrival will preferably be by 12:00. Transfer from the airport to the hotel is available if needed. In the first afternoon, you are free to visit the city on your own. In the evening, you will have a briefing of the trip and you will be given the travel pack, a detailed road book. The meeting will be a good opportunity to get to know each other before starting the motorcycle tour. You will stay overnight in Rome.

Day 2: Rome to Pompei, 315 kilometers / 196 miles

From Rome you will go along the ancient consular roads, going through the Alban Hills and you will gradually move towards the Lazio Coast by skirting the Circeo National Park. The next stage is the region of Campania with the mythical city of Pompei. Be prepared to discover a magnificent mosaic of nature and history, environments, and traditions.

Day 3: Pompei to Sapri / Maratea, 335 kilometers / 208 miles

You will ride from Pompei to Sapri along the Amalfi Coast and the area of Cilento. The reasons why this coast that overlooks the Gulf of Sorrento was declared part of the Unesco World Heritage portray the Amalfi Coast as "an authentic example of Mediterranean landscape with exceptional cultural and natural values that are the result of a dramatic topography and its historic evolution". Great words to say that here, after every twist of a road dropping steeply to the sea, you can find a different landscape with a unique feature, beauty. The Sorrento peninsula and the Amalfi part of the tour impose a careful drive and a limited speed because of various reasons (landscape and viability) so you will need to be prudent.

Day 4: Rest day at Sapri / Maratea

Maratea is the unique "mouth" of Basilicata in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its origins date back to the Bronze Age. The village is located on the hillside of Mount Saint Biagio, overlooking the Gulf of Policastro with its beautiful beaches. On the side of the shore, there is a panoramic viewpoint with the Statue of the Saviour that was created by the sculptor Bruno Innocenti. Along the shore, you can admire many watchtowers built in the 16th century. In the seaside resort, you can visit the striking caves of Maratea. You can't forget to visit the ancient village and the small square above it.

Day 5: Sapri / Maratea to Tropea, 280 kilometers / 174 miles

You will visit Calabria, a region between mountains and sea in a perfect itinerary that starts from Saint Nicola Arcella with its splendid creeks. You will go down along the coast to Tropea and go along the coast of Cedars without leaving out the deviations towards the inland. The coast of the Cedars, called like this due to the cultivation of particular citrus fruits used in the preparation of drinks and candies, is the name that identifies the beautiful region of Calabria.

Day 6: Tropea to Taormina, 160 kilometers / 99 miles

From the turquoise beaches of Tropea to the shining orange of Sicily citrus trees, a transition itinerary between Calabria and Sicily without the attentive observer will be amazed by the contrasts of colors, habits, and panoramas.

Day 7: Rest day at Taormina

You can spend the morning relaxing on the beach of the Naxos Gardens. The most famous part of the boardwalk is undoubtedly in the territory of Mazzarò where there is the imposing rock off Isola Bella, in the middle of crystal clear water, surrounded by a dozen of hotels and resorts. It is a tiny islet naturally linked to land by a thin strip of sand. It once was the home of Ferdinando I of Bourbon. In Mazzarò, you can reach the historic center of Taormina in few minutes. Thanks to the funicular railway, that is active up to late at night and takes passengers right into the center of the city.

Day 8: Taormina to Cefalù, 310 kilometers / 193 miles

In the Etnean territory along the spectacular segment of coast overlooking the Ionian Sea between Catania and Taormina, there are picturesque seaside villages and well-known seaside resorts. However, the distinguishing feature of this area is not the sea but it is the Ethna, "a muntagna" (Sicilian dialect), the unique one, loved and hated by all the inhabitants of the towns on the hillside of mount Ethna. You can't cross it but you can just circumnavigate it, through vineyards, hazelnut groves, pistachio groves, apple orchards, olive groves, all crossed by a dense network of narrow streets bordered by dry walls in volcanic stone. At a later stage, you will visit the Madonie with its silences and mountain views.

Day 9: Cefalù to Agrigento, 258 kilometers / 160 miles

From the Tyrrhenian Sea, you will drive through the heart of Sicily, passing through the Norman city of Palermo, its wonders, its lively center, its mysterious catacombs, and the social contrasts that the Mafia has produced. You will visit Corleone, Prizzi, and a sparsely populated but fascinating part of Sicily.

Day 10: Agrigento to Catania, 304 kilometers / 189 miles

You will visit the Southern Coast, from Agrigento to Catania, ranging from landscapes, art, ancient times to modern industry. In the final stage of the trip, you will bring back your motorcycles. The night will be dedicated to Sicilian cuisine and goodbyes.

  • Review by Steven Croad from Auckland, New Zealand

"The Service was 10/10 from delivering the bike and making it easy after traveling for 35 hours to get to Milan. Suggesting some locations where to stay gave locations that I wouldn’t have picked and the accommodation on the side of the lake was amazing. The Ride itself was a great contrast from Lakes to Mountains. Little Villages, small road to big Cities and Freeways.. Bike was perfect for the Job, form the GPS, Luggage, tidy new bike"
