Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

You will arrive at Chinggis Khaan International Airport (ULN) and meet up with the local guide and then be transferred to the hotel. You will be allotted time allowing you to transfer to the garage and get to know the bikes. You will have a safety training and test drives. The night will bring a welcome dinner in one of the centrally located restaurants. You will overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Mungun Morit

First day of your trip, you will ride out of Ulaanbaatar on paved road for a few kilometers, and then continue on a dirt track for the rest of the day. You will cross a rocky mountain and three small rivers. Prepared and packed lunch will be served along the way. You will overnight at a tented camp near Mungun Morit soum, 143 kilometers / 88 miles northeast of Ulaanbaatar.

Mungon Mort is a gateway town to the area known as Ikh Horig, where Chinggis Khaan himself is believed to be buried. While controversial, many people believe that the great Mongol leader’s tomb is hidden in Mt. Burkhan Haldun.

Day 3: Avarga Toson (190 kilometers / 118 miles)

Today, you travel 190 kilometers / 118 miles eastbound towards a location called Avraga Toson, a site of mineral mud springs and ancient city of Chinggis Khaan’s era. It is also believed to be a place where the famous book “The Secret History of the Mongols” that describes the history of Chinggis Khaan’s family was written. The road will lead you through muddy surfaces with lots of obstacle and river crossings. You will overnight in a camp.

Day 4: Khar Zurhnii Huh Lake (127 kilometers / 78 miles)

Today, you head back north towards another historic site, which is Har Zurkhny Huh Lake. Apparently, in 1189, it was here that an emerging leader of the Mongol nation Temujin was enthroned as the ruler of united Mongol tribes and received a title Chinggis Khaan. You will be riding whole day, roughly for 127 kilometers / 78 miles, through mostly sandy terrain. You will be overnighting in tents.

Day 5: Ulaanbaatar (170 kilometers / 105 miles)

You will ride to Ulaanbaatar for 170 kilometers / 105 miles and relax in the afternoon. You will have free time to explore the city on your own. Then, there will be a farewell dinner.

Day 6: Departure

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport.

Munkh-Orgil Erdenesukh
Orgil has been riding cross bikes around Mongolia since 1992. He started riding at a very young age following in his father's footsteps. In early 2000, he has been wrestling in professional Japanese sumo and advanced into the highest of the leagues. He returned home to follow his passion of his younger age and started running his own business in Mongolia that was harmonizing his desire to travel in open land and promote bike tours. He has worked as the executive director of the Yamaha dealer in Mongolia.

Location

Mongolia has a population of three million, with a land size of Alaska, where the majority of the population inhabits in few cities including the capital city Ulaanbaatar, the home to more than half of its total citizens. With less than few thousand kilometers of pavement road, Mongolia is an ideal place for those who enjoy wide open spaces, unspoiled landscapes, and challenging tracks.
