This 12-day tour takes you from the bustling streets of Cape town through awe-inspiring deserted mountain bends and into the Kingdom of Lesotho where you will spend three days doing some of the best off-roading Africa has to offer.
African Moto Adventures understands that after a hard day of off-roading, most want the comforts of a hotel room. Therefore all the accommodations on this tour are either hotels, lodges or guesthouses with your first night being spent in an ocean view hotel in Cape Agulhas.
You will arrive in Cape Town and collect your bike. You will spend some time visiting the sights of Cape Town and make sure you are comfortable with the bike. Tonight you will have a tour brief and chance to meet fellow adventurers.
Today you will be riding to the most southerly point of the African continent, passing through Hermanus the whale watching capital of Africa then on to Gansbai the place you board a shark diving boat, ending up at an ocean-view hotel.
Today you head along the coast to the village of St Francis Bay with its white painted houses with black roofs on the canals whales can be seen in the bay in season and dolphins can be seen daily. Keep an eye out for the rare African oystercatcher and fish eagles. The chance to take a swim or watch the Cape clawless otter frolicking in the rock pools should be on your list of things to do.
Today you will ride to Schotia. After signing in, you will ride in the park to your accommodation, watching for elephants giraffe kudu and other African wildlife. Once you are parked and changed out of riding gear, your ranger will pick you up and you will have a full safari by open jeep getting really close to Africa’s big 5.
You will be taken to your bush lapa to enjoy an evening meal before continuing with a night drive. The next day begins with a morning drive and breakfast, then you collect your bikes for the next leg of your journey to Lesotho.
For those with a sense of adventure this small town used to be the original homeland of the san or bushmen, the town is filled with historical buildings and museums.
Today you ride the famous Sani Pass. Amazing views lead to the highest pub in Africa at 9436 feet.
Today you explore the kingdom of Lesotho, this mountain kingdom indeed feels like the roof of Africa and a place that time forgot, miles and miles of twisty tarmac but make the most of this ride. Tomorrow you explore the roof of Africa off road.
More off road today takes you to Semonkong falls the highest single drop waterfall in South Africa. The road and destination are breathtaking. You will see many Basotho the local people dressed in colorful blankets called Seana Marena unique to the kingdom of Lesotho.
Today you leave Lesotho and head towards the Klein Karoo, stopping at Colesberg for the night.
Today you ride to the ostrich capital of Africa and the chance to explore the Cango Caves, a 20 million-year-old network of limestone chambers.
Today you ride the world-famous Garden Route with a stop for photos and a drink at Ronnies Sex Shop, a famous biker bar, then on to your last night at Simons Town a seaside town with a difference. At the hotel, you will be surprised to see wild African penguins and even get the chance to swim with them in the rock pools.
After your early morning swim with the penguins, you will ride the amazing Chapman’s Peak drive back to Cape Town and return the bikes. This is where your adventure ends unless you have chosen to spend some extra time in Cape Town just let the team know and they will arrange tours and hotels.
African Moto Adventures asks that all guests hiring a bike brings with them a credit card. African Moto Adventures will take the credit card details of each guest and hold them until the bike is returned to the shop and any damages are noted down and charged (the maximum charge for bike damage or loss is 1000 GBP).
