Day 1 - Hanoi to Trung Ha to Thanh Son to Thu Cuc to Nghia Lo (190 kilometers)

At 7:30 a.m., you will depart for your motorbike trip by getting out of Hanoi to head up road No. 32. You will take about four hours to get from Thu Cuc to Nghia Lo. You will be on a wide stretch of road where the traffic flow is more easy. You can see beautiful landscape from the road or you can stop to take photos and have a little rest stop. Your riding trip today will be headed by a tour guide.

Situated a few kilometers from the center of the town is a hot spring, the water of which is believed to cure arthritis. The spring’s warm water allows people to apply it directly. However, the water is still only used by local people and has not been tapped for its health benefits yet. Many elders in the valley come here to bathe every few days. The water is very good for the health and skin. A person will feel as fresh as a daisy with healthy white skin after they’ve bathed in the spring water.

You will have an overnight stay in Nghia Lo at a home-stay. The meals included on this day are lunch and dinner.

Day 2 - Nghia Lo to Tu Le to Mu Cang Chai to Than Uyen (170 kilometers)

At 8:00 a.m., you will check out of the guesthouse and have breakfast with Pho near the town. You are going to head up road 32 along mountain roads and terraced rice field landscape. You will have the opportunity to stop and take photos.

Mu Cang Chai is about 1000 meters above sea level, the steep hills make it almost impossible to grow rice fields like those in the delta. Thus, local residences grow their own rice on the terraced fields, for the purpose of preventing water from flowing downhill. These terraced fields lying among rugged green mountain valleys, under clear blue sky or a mysterious and crips fog, bring to eyes an imposing scenery.

During harvesting season, ready crops transition to yellow, while new crops remain in their green color. The scenery is a big attraction to photographers. You will have an overnight stay at a home-stay in Than Uyen town. The meals of the day include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. One of the interesting activities of the day is to have a session in the hot spring.

Day 3 - Than Uyen to Sapa (130 kilometers)

You will have breakfast and then check out before the trip starts. The ride will go up to Sapa and the road follows the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range and winds through tea plantations and rice terraces as it hugs the Nam Ma River. This stunning valley is dotted with Tay, Dzao, and H’mong hill tribe villages. Over the 1900 meters from Tram Ton Pass to Sa Pa is located in the breathtaking Hoang Lien Son Mountains.

You will arrive in Sapa in the afternoon where you will stay for the night at a home-stay. The meals of the day include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 4 - Sapa to Lao Chai to Ta Van Village (trekking)

At 8:00 a.m., you will have breakfast with steamed rolled rice pancake near the hotel. Then, you will trek to visit the traditional houses of H’mong hill tribe and admire the beauty of surroundings and enjoy the hospitality of the H’mong children at Cat Cat village.

In the afternoon after lunch, you will check out of the hotel. The ride will be easy, going down to Lao Chai village to visit the H’mong and Dzay tribes. Then, you will keep going along the bottom of the Sa Pa valley to go to Ta Van village, which is supposed to be the most beautiful place in the area. You can see the amazing scenery and beautiful waterfall.

Day 5 - Sapa to Bac Ha Sunday market

After breakfast, you will be leaving Sapa to head to Coc Ly market. After one hour of trekking to visit, you will have a boat trip down along Chay River (one branch of the Red River) crossing many waterfall, caves, and beautiful scenes.

Then, you will drive to Bac Ha town. Take a short trek around Bac Ha town to visit Hoang A Tuong’s palace known as the King of Meo (H’mong people) during French colonialism and a local village of H’mong people nearby. Enjoy dinner with tasty Tao-Meo-wine (local wine made from H’mong’s apple).

Day 6 - Bac Ha to Xi Man to Hoang Su Phi to Ha Giang City (170 kilometers)

After breakfast today, you will ride all day to go to Ha Giang city via Xi Man and Hoang Su Phi. Along the way, you may encounter the ethnic people: Nung, Tay, Red Dzao, La Chi, Co Lao, and some tribes staying on the hill (groups who have settled in the area).

Hoang Su Phi is also very famous for the terraced rice fields cultivated by local people for hundreds of years. You will lunch en route at Hoang Su Phi town. Continue to ride to Ha Giang with a stop to visit Tay hill tribe’s village and enjoy beautiful scene of rivers, forests, and mountain of Northeast Vietnam.

Day 7 - Ha Giang to Quan Ba to Yen Minh to Dong Van to Lung Cu to Dong Van (220 kilometers)

After breakfast, you will head north of Ha Giang via Quan Ba Heaven Gate to Yen Minh town for lunch. For the local inhabitants, Dong Van Karst Plateau, with up to 60% of limestone exposures, is not only a mighty scenery but also their cradle of life endowed to them from earth and heaven.

Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark (to include Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, and Meo Vac, four mountainous districts of Ha Giang Province) was recognized as the first global geopark of Vietnam since October 3, 2010 and makes it a-must-visit place once in a lifetime.

You will continue with visits to Vuong Dynasty art architecture relics, a former palace of Meo people, and Sa Phin village, followed by a visit to Lung Cu flag tower. The Lung Cu flagpole, marking the country’s extreme north, is a popular tourist destination that inspires a deep sense of pride in Vietnamese.

From a distance, Lung Cu is a spectacular sight with the view dominated by giant boulders and the national flag flying above Dragon Mountain, the northernmost tip of Vietnam. You will head back to Dong Van Town for dinner and check in at the guesthouse.

Day 8 - Dong Van to Meo Vac to Bao Lac (120 kilometers)

In the morning, you will head to a coffee shop in the Dong Van ancient town and trek around at Dong Van market. You will ride all day to go to Bao Lac. You will stop on the way at the famous Ma Pi Leng Pass at an altitude of over 2000 meters to admire the scenery typical of the region. Ma Pi Leng is one of the clusters of karst cones and continuous cliffs, which constitute an unmatched landscape.

You can see and enjoy beautiful scenery overlooking the Nho Que River before going down to Meo Vac. You will cross the wild regions of the mythical province of Ha Giang. Stop for the night at Bao Lac, the ethnic crossroad of Northeast Vietnam. Many other ethnic groups on the two sides of the border meet at the market every Sunday.

Day 9 - Bao Lac to Ba Be lake (150 kilometers)

There are few passes from where you can dominate the area. The road is easy but there are many curves. You can stop a lot for pictures and rest. All together, with the stop for drinks and food, the journey should take about eight hours. You will spend the night in the traditional stilt house of Tay minority people.

Day 10 - Discovery Ba Be lake

After breakfast, you will take a boat cruise down the Nang River which is the main water source of the lake and enjoy the tranquility of the nature at Ba Be National Park. On the way, you will have the opportunity to visit Puong cave, Dau Dang waterfalls, and An Ma Island. You will have lunch at the home-stay. You will find the best place for swimming or take an easy hike to meet ethnic people living along the lake. You will return to Pac Ngoi village in late afternoon.

Day 11 - Ba Be lake to Hanoi City (275 kilometers)

The last day, you will have an easy ride of 220 kilometers through Thai Nguyen, Bac Kan, and Vinh Yen provinces on a small road with little traffic. Your arrival in Hanoi will be around 5:00 p.m. The tour ends here.

"For travellers doing their first visit to Vietnam and wishing to have a "no con" guide and a lot of bickering over promised performance of their guides & places, then use this Travel agency with confidence. I first met this guy Anhy (now running Anh Travel) at a small shop lot hotel in Hanoi and found him to be helpful, honest and jovial. I used him on subsequent trips and as always he had never disappointed me & my friends on our expectations. If you want a good holiday with good memories, call him."

"He was also kind to once personally arranged for us a deluxe family room with sea view at a hotel in Nha Trang with price of standard room - a deal which you normally wont be able to get if book by yourself. If you need to find place to truly explore Vietnam, worth coming to this tour agency. Love their hospitality, professional and enthusism! Will definitely use their service again once we return to Vietnam. Keep up the good work!"

"I am a tourist who spent time with Anh travel to north Vietnam up by the border area with China as well as an overnight train to Danag and Hoi Anh. Anh was exceptionally hospitable. His English is quite good while he told me about the local customs and traditions of the areas where we traveled. We stayed at clean homestays with great local foods where we talked with other travelers and exchanged stories over beers at night. Each homestay was solidly connected to wifi and I had no problem staying in touch with home back in Minnesota. "

"The overnight train trip was a pleasant adventure In how the train system works. Food was brought through out the train and it was even on time. It's s good way to see the "backwoods" of Vietnam. DaNANG is a modern city much cleaner than Hanoi with substantially fewer people. Very nice accommodations I even attended a fabulous cooking school and was served some Vietnam delicacies!! The beach of course is a must visit deal. Warm water and blue sky. Hoi anh was one solid picture book. A photographers dream. Anh arranged for me to speak with the locals and he arranged it so that I could pose some of them for great shots. We were there for the full moon fall festival so there were many people and places to see. Lots of resteraunts !! An adventure of the first order "

"When I return to Vietnam I will look up Anh again. He provides the color of the places we visited that many tours lack. The people the culture and the traditions that I otherwise wouldn't have had. Give him a call for fun and education. A great tour and tour leader."
