Program
Day 1: Hanoi to Mai Chau, 160 kilometers / 99 miles
After breakfast, you start your ride to Mai Chau. Once out of the Red River Delta which brims with traditional farming activity, you pass through limestone monoliths and into foothills populated by Muong people. You head straight at the main range before breaching a high and beautiful forested pass which descends into the hidden valley of Mai Chau where you spend the night with friends at a traditional Thai stilt house in a Thai village.
- Riding time: 3 hours
Day 2: Mai Chau to Son La, 185 kilometers / 115 miles
After breakfast, you ride to Son La and a stop in Moc Chau with hundreds of giant grass farm for cows, you will know why this is the biggest milk centre in Vietnam. Afterward, continue to Son La and enjoy the view of the Northern mountain and arrive in Son La at noon, then, check in at a hotel before visiting “Son La prison" in the French war. Walk around the town and overnight in Son La.

Day 3: Son La To Muong Lay, 200 kilometers / 124 miles
Heading out northwest from Son La, the road crosses a series of mountain passes and areas of busy Black Thai activity. There are children walking to school, kids tending buffaloes, women planting rice seedlings, and men pulling the buffalo. Continue on scenic road to Muong Lay, a very lovely town by the bank of the Black River.

Day 4: Muong Lay to Xin Ho and Sa Pa, 200 kilometers / 124 miles
Ride to Sa Pa, during your way, you will see many different ethnic villages of the Lao, Lu, Black Dao, Tien Dao, Day, and Red H'mong before driving up to the highest pass in Vietnam - Hoang Lien Son. Stop over at “Heaven Gate” for a wonderful view down to amazing valley and Fanxipang - the highest mount in Vietnam (Roof of Vietnam). You will also visit “Silver Waterfall” - the nicest one in the area before getting to your hotel in Sa Pa. Overnight in Sa Pa.

Day 5: Relax in Sa Pa
The Queen of the Mountains, Sa Pa sits regally overlooking a beautiful valley and lofty mountains towering over the town on all sides. Welcome to the destination in northwest Vietnam, gateway to another world of mysterious minority cultures and luscious landscapes. The spectacular scenery that surrounds Sa Pa includes cascading rice terraces that spill down the mountains like a patchwork quilt. The mountains are often shrouded in mist that rolls back and forth along the peaks, offering tantalising glimpses of what lies in wait on a clear day. The valleys and villages around Sa Pa are home to a host of hill-tribe people who wander in to town to buy, sell, and trade. Today is free at leisure to relax or visit Sa Pa on your own. Overnight in Sa Pa.
Day 6: Sa Pa to Bac Ha, 120 kilometers / 75 miles
Today, you ride toward Bac Ha and visit one of the below markets which are always the colorful meeting places for the hill tribes. Minority people come down from the mountains to sell their products or just for catching up on the latest news, gossip, drinking away troubles, or seeking for lover.
The market days are Coc Ly on Tuesday, Can Cau on Saturday, Bac Ha on Sunday, Cao Son on Wednesdays, and Lung Khau Nhin on Thursday. Tonight, you stay in Bac Ha.

Day 7: Bac Ha to Luc Yen, 110 kilometers / 68 miles
After breakfast, you will continue your trip to Luc Yen via Xin Man where you will have opportunity to see some many beautiful mountains dotted with many ethnic villages. If it falls on Sunday, you can also visit a lively market in Sin Man. Continue to Luc Yen for overnight at AnhTravel friend’s family homestay.

Day 8: Luc Yen to Vu Linh, 95 kilometers / 59 miles
You will have a morning ride to Vu Linh village of the Dao people by the side of Thac Ba lake which has an area of 23,400 hectares and 1,331 islands and hills with diverse ecological environments. The water in the lake is blue and clear, imprinted with the reflections of the surrounding ancient forest. Tonight, you will stay at the homestay with AnhTravel friend's family. The welcome is exceptional with a lot of rice wine and laughter.

Day 9: Vu Linh to Hanoi, 180 kilometers / 112 miles
After breakfast, you cruise southeast on Highway 2 and then, branch off to the sleepy town of Phu Tho. You follow the edge of the Red River along the dyke, almost to the point where it merges with the Black River after which they flow together to Hanoi. By now, you are very much in the lowlands of the delta plains and the north's main agricultural areas. Harvest time here is a sea of activity. Crossing the Black River by bridge, you pass through Son Tay and then, return to Hanoi on the highway.
