Accommodation

Facilities

  • Kitchen

The Boyer YL Ranch has been in the Boyer Family since 1905. For the past 20 years, various family members only used the ranch for a few weeks each summer. Jock Boyer and his wife, Kimberly Coats, purchased the ranch from the Boyer siblings upon returning from a decade in Rwanda running the national cycling team. The ranch is their labor of love to share its beauty and peace with others. It is currently undergoing many renovations and you may see areas that look like they need a little love. Rest assured, love (and money) are being poured into every project on the property.

Cowgirl Cabin

It is a cozy stand-alone studio cabin with two single beds, a fully equipped kitchen, shower, and bathroom. The Cowgirl Cabin sits just 50 feet from Savery Creek!

Cowboy Cabin

The Cowboy Cabin is a cozy stand-alone studio cabin with two full sized beds and a fully equipped kitchen. The cabin is winterized and has a full bathroom. Go to sleep with the roar of the Savery Creek and wake to fresh fishing just 50 feet from your door.

The Barn

The Barn can be configured in a variety of ways to fit the needs of the guests. The space holds a great light and overlooks the horse meadow. With its flexibility, The Barn is good for large groups or families. It is equipped with a full kitchen including a wolf range, a full bathroom, and washer and dryer.

Wince’s Cabin

Wince’s Cabin is a large one-bedroom with great room, full kitchen and bath, workspace, and a backyard overlooking the Savery Creek. The cabin is perfect for a writer or artist who wants to retreat into a wonderfully creative space. Also great for families with a pull out sofa and daybed. The cabin is newly renovated!

Program

Important things to know

  • If you want to ride a motorcycle during your stay, there are two sample routes on gravel / dirt and minimal tarmac and one of which is The Jack Creek Medicine Mania trail.
  • Bike wash, tires, tubes, and minor repairs on the motorcycle can be done at the Boyer YL Ranch. Most tools are available and parts can be ordered and delivered.
  • If more work needed, there is a mechanic’s shop in Baggs, Wyoming (20 miles away) or in Craig, Colorado (60 miles away).
  • If you want to rent a motorcycle, there is one at Steamboat Springs at Steamboat Powersports.
  • Boyer YL Ranch have a dog (Shaka) and two cats (Kongo and Dobby) on the property. They are all friendly, however, please do not feed them or allow them in your cabin (they will try). Shaka is quite friendly and loves to be pet, however, he hasn’t been around children much so please watch your kids.
  • There will be deer, moose, skunks, marmots, gophers, and bears, which come through the property. Do not leave food in your car!
  • Boyer YL Ranch is at 6,700’ of elevation so drink lots and lots of water. If you’re drinking alcohol, you’ll need even more water.
  • This ranch is under renovation, so be careful where you step and please do not let children play near well holes.
  • Please do not let children (or adults if you’re so inclined) play on any of the sheep wagons on the property. They will all be heading for renovation at some point so the ranch wants to keep the wear and tear to a minimum.
  • Boyer YL Ranch is on septic so please limit the toilet paper you put in the toilet and no flushing of the feminine hygiene product.
  • No fireworks including sparklers
  • No smoking except in the designated area by the Main House
  • No fires in any pit (except for the one Saturday at the cookout monitored by the hosts)
  • There is a fire southwest of here, so you may see and experience smoky haze depending on the wind.
  • Internet is available and open at “Ubiquiti”
  • Please be conscious of your water use. Boyer YL Ranch is on a well system, it’s safe to drink, but because of the lack of snowfall and rain, Boyer YL Ranch wants to make sure the ranch has it!
  • If you’d like to hike, there are plenty of trials that can be shown by the hosts or you can download on GPS. Trials are from 1.2 miles and easy to 6 miles and difficult and everything in between.
  • There is a badminton net on the lawn of the main house, feel free to enjoy!
  • You can swim in the Savery Creek running through the property but do so at your own risk. Recommend wearing tennis shoes as it’s quite rocky.
  • Well behaved animals are welcome but not on the beds or furniture, please.
  • Please note all activities on Boyer YL Ranch property and your stay on the property is at your own risk. Boyer YL Ranch is not responsible for any injuries to you. Please be aware of animals, snakes, and any other hazards noted above.

Hosts

Jonathan Boyer and Kimberly Coats

In 2017, Jonathan “Jock” Boyer and his wife, Kimberly Coats, returned to Wyoming, and Jock’s childhood home, after spending a decade in Rwanda running the Rwandan National Cycling Team. Jock’s boyhood dream has always been to return to the ranch and share it’s special gifts with friends and guests from around the world. The Boyer YL Ranch has been in the Boyer family since 1905.

In 2018, Jock and Kimberly will open the ranch gate to guests, reunions, retreats, camps, and other special events. Jock and Kimberly look forward to welcoming you with their own unique style of warm Wyoming hospitality.

Jock and Kimberly have received solace and were rejuvenated with every visit to the ranch while they were living in Rwanda. When they left Africa, they wanted to make this a place for all people to experience what they experienced on the short breaks back to the USA, specifically here. Consider this your home when you’re here. Explore, hike, bike, relax, picnic, and play tennis, whatever makes you happy. That atmosphere is what the Boyer YL Ranch strives to foster. If you want to hang out and learn more about the ranch, Jock and Kimberly will give you a tour of the main house. If you want to know about cycling in Africa, Jock and Kimberly are happy to share their stories.

Jock and Kimberly are here to make sure you have a great time. The family ranch is over 100 years old and some of the buildings are as well so things break, it happens, but Jock and Kimberly are here to take care of any problems that may arise. Jock and Kimberly may be reached in the cabin labeled (Boyer YL Office) to the left of the Main House.
