Day 1: Manali, 70 kilometers / 44 miles

Following a morning meet and greet with our team, BRM Travels and Expeditions will brief you about the journey ahead, the safety tips to be observed while riding and answer any last-minute questions you might have. Following this, you would be introduced to the bikes you would be riding and you will take the bikes for a spin to the scenic locales of Solang Valley and Naggar Castle. The purpose is to get comfortable with the bike as well as take in some of the natural splendors of Manali. The expected ride is around 60 kilometers and offers first-timers to the Himalayas a chance to get familiar with the sharp turns and riding on the hills, as a group, under an experienced tour leader.

Day 2: Manali - Keylong, 120 kilometers / 75 miles

You begin your journey from Manali to Leh through the Pir Panjal ranges of Himalayas with a steady ascent of 51 kilometers to Rohtang La Pass, situated at an altitude of 13,060 feet and cross over to Lahaul Spiti district where you descent to Gramphu followed by Khoksar. It is followed by another steady climb to Sissu and onto the district headquarters in Keylong where you halt for the night. You are likely to encounter traffic jam at Rani Nallah and tough riding conditions throughout.

Day 3: Keylong - Sarchu, 84 kilometers / 53 miles

Today is all about high passes and following a good night's sleep, you continue from Keylong to Baralachala Pass (16,500 feet). It’s a steady 67 kilometers climb with a steep ascent to the pass especially that last 18 kilometers from ZingZingBar. It's important you take extra precautions on these roads as the winds could be chilly and roads dangerous. Your onwards journey to Ladakh leads you across 21 hairpin turns through the Gata Loops to Nakee La (15,547 feet) and Lachulung La (16,016 feet) passes and onto Sarchu, where you register at the police check post. You halt for the night at Sarchu where you will be put up in comfortable Swiss tents.

Day 4: Sarchu - Leh, 250 kilometers / 156 miles

You are now on the last stretch of your journey from Manali to Leh and still, have about 250 kilometers to ride. Be prepared to be amazed by the landscape you encounter. You have one more pass to conquer at Tanglang La (17,440 feet) and en route to the pass you ride across a plateau called More Plains at an altitude of 15,500 feet. The scenic beauty of this landscape is truly amazing and sure to keep shutterbugs occupied. You descend for a while as you move along the Indus river to small settlements through Upshi Karu and finally reach Leh.

Day 5: Leh local

Day 5 gives you an opportunity to relax and explore the town of Leh at your own pleasure after a short ride to Magnetic Hill, Pathir Sahiband, and a few Monasteries around. For things to do in Leh, you can visit the Leh Palace and Shanti stupa or sample different cuisines at many good restaurants on the Changspa road.

Day 6: Leh - Khardung La - Nubra Valley, 130 kilometers / 81 miles

The day that sure provides the most important highlight of the tour, as you are all set to drive the highest motorable pass in the world, the Khardung La. Not only does this ride provide you an adrenaline rush but the views remain in your memory forever for most of the people the whole trip is for this very day, to Conquer the top. Further on, you ride to Nubra Valley.

Day 7: Nubra Valley - Leh, 130 kilometers / 81 miles

You have an early start of the day. As you head out back to Leh, you stop over for a double-humped camel safari. This place is amazing for pictures. Then on the way back, your next halt is just a few minutes after at the Diskit Monastery and then on your way back to Leh.

Day 8: Leh - Pangong Tso - Leh, 320 kilometers / 199 miles

Today you take rest from bikes as it’s a day trip. You head northeast towards the most identifiable water body in the region, the Pangong Tso Lake. After a roughly five hour ride through difficult terrain, across the Chang La Pass, you reach Pangong Tso, a 135 kilometers lake shared between India and China and undoubtedly, the best visual spectacle of the tour. After spending few hours at the lake you head back to our base camp in Leh with a good time to collect your memories from the trip so far and get in touch again with life outside the region.

Leh is the only town that gives you access to phone networks and the internet so you might want to utilize those.

Day 9: Leh - Sarchu, 250 kilometers / 156 miles

You begin your journey back to Manali on the 9th day and aim to beat Sarchu for the night halt. Expect better conditions than you encountered when you crossed the road eight days ago. Crossing the passes from the other side now, that familiar feeling setting in of knowing these areas well enough and the sheer pleasure of riding.

Day 10: Sarchu - Manali, 240 kilometers / 150 miles

The last day of riding, you cover the 222 kilometers stretch from Sarchu to Manali with an aim of starting early and reaching Manali by evening. You halt in Keylong for lunch and expect tough riding conditions from Koksar to Rohtang La. A summary of your entire trip on road can be cast in this stretch as you cross the water on the road, high passes, lush greenery, and vast barren lands.

Please note that on day six to eight, you won't use bikes, rather you would visit the places in a taxi and if you choose to drive on day six and seven, bike charges would be borne by you for those two days.
