Canary Motorcycle Tours have devised lots of fabulous routes for you on this exciting motorcycle tour. This is a superb tour with awesome routes and ridings to some of the undiscovered and untouched parts of Slovenia, its towns, villages, countryside, and coast - basically a bit of everything.
Canary Motorcycle Tours use an established, authentic, family run guesthouse with extensive, manicured gardens, two tennis courts, substantial outside seating area and large plunge pool, where you can relax in peace after a long days riding.
The guesthouse is situated in a small village of Brestanica. They have a popular local bar serving traditional beer plus an extensive range of wines and spirits. Here, you can enjoy socializing with other guests and locals alike.
The rooms are twin rooms and are bright, clean, and welcoming with free Wi-Fi and a balcony with beautiful, tranquil views of the local church, tennis courts, plunge pool, and gardens. All rooms have private bathrooms and flat-screen TV. Breakfast and evening meals are home cooked by the owner and qualified chef, Mojmir.
You will also stay one night in Starigrad, Croatia.
Riding for five full days, you will cover many areas of this beautiful country and even manage to cross several borders. Canary Motorcycle Tours have incorporated a ride on the famous Adriatic Coast Road with an overnight stay in Croatia.
When riding in the stunning Julian Mountains in north west Slovenia, you will have another overnight stay on the border with Austria so you can pop into Italy and Austria too.
Slovenia lies in the heart of Europe where the Alps and Mediterranean meet. To the north is Austria, to the east Hungary, to the south Croatia, and to the west Italy. Two million people live in Slovenia on just over 20,000 square kilometers.
With four types of fabulous landscapes - alpine, sub-Mediterranean, Dinaric, and Pannonian, Slovenia is a perfect summer biking destination.
Canary Motorcycle Tours tours are ideal for those riders who want to tour in Europe but can’t find the two or three weeks they need. Fly out, ride for three days, have a rest day to do your own thing, ride two more full days and fly home - perfect.
Want to bring your own bike? No problem! Canary Motorcycle Tours have devised a package for you too with accommodation and guided tour. If you don’t want to ride solo, come ride with Canary Motorcycle Tours.
You will arrive at either Zagreb or Ljubljana Airport and be met by Mojmir aka Momo and will be transferred to your accommodation. Zagreb is the easier and more convenient airport being just a short 40-minute drive to the hotel, while Ljubljana is an hour and 15 minutes.
Today you will ride the Bear Route, heading to the south of Slovenian, through the fabulous forest areas. The largest Slovenian population of the brown bear is found in the forests of the Kočevje, Bela krajina, and Notranjska regions and it is estimates that there are over 800 bears in Slovenia.
The local lake makes an ideal morning coffee stop before heading further south east into Croatia via an authentic, local border crossing and then onto more sweeping riding and hairpins between Croatia and Slovenia.
You will stop in a quaint Croatian town for lunch, then following the River Kopla that separates Slovenia and Croatia. Head north toward Ljubljana and follow the ‘old road’, then head back to your hotel.
Today you will take a ride to Croatia via the mountains and Adriatic Coast road for an overnight stop. Leaving Brestanica after a hearty breakfast, you will head towards Josipdol, then southwest, crossing the mountain to Senj with amazing views of the Islands of Adriatic Coast - the beginning of your Adriatic Coast Road journey.
Heading south, you aim to arrive at your accommodation in Starigrad by early evening, in time for a swim and a beer or two before dinner.
Ride back to Slovenia via the Islands, then back to the mainland by ferry, and heading back through the south western countryside of Slovenian. It will be a different route back today than yesterday, still heading north but this time back on different fabulous, sweeping roads, remote villages of southern Slovenia. You should arrive back in Brestanica in time for dinner.
Today you can have a well-earned rest although there is an option to ride an extra day for an additional charge. You will go to Ptuj, Maribor, and have lunch at Soboth Lake in Austria then back via more of the awesome, flowing Slovenian roads. This is the longest days riding with about 350 kilometers.
Take a ride to Beld, Lake Bohinj, and the famous Vršič Pass in the Julian Mountains for today. Head for an overnight stop on the border with Slovenia, Austria, and Italy in the Kranjska Gora region of Slovenia. It is an absolute must ride, on the Vršič Pass, with an elevation of 1,611 meters (5,285 feet). It is a highest mountain pass in the Slovenian Julian Alps.
Ride back to Brestanica via Italy, back into Slovenia, and out again into Austria following the border river of Ferlacher Straussee. And then you will go onto Kranj, Ljubljana and again, home, shower, change, and have enough time to enjoy another home cooked meal.
You will be transferred to your departing airport for your plane home.
A bike rental deposit is not needed but there is an excess which will be 800 EUR and will be signed for on the Terms and Conditions when you arrive.
Brestanica, or until 1953 Rajhenburg, is your base for the week. It is a quaint market in the Municipality of Krsko, situated in the south east of Slovenia on the river Sava. In recent decades, the settlement has been expanding along the Sava River, especially to the north, into the wider part of the valley towards the Senovo, which functionally merges with Brestanica into one whole.
The rich historical background, favorable location and cultural and natural sights in the place and its immediate surroundings give Brestanica the opportunity to develop tourism further.
For the purpose of promoting tourism, the Brestanica Tourist Association operates in the locality, which organizes cultural events in the locality and promotes the place online. Brestanica also operates the annual Brestanica swimming pool.
With its location in a small basin, it offers excellent access to the surrounding peaks. The most popular hiking spot is the nearby, well-hours-away Mohor peak with a church on the Sremski hills.
The Mačkovci ponds, artificially made, which combine over three large ponds with a diameter of more than half a kilometer, are of particular interest. They lie spread out among the forests of the surrounding hills, with the largest being fisheries and catering (restaurant).
Canary Motorcycle Tours have selected this for the base as it gives a local, not touristy, flavor to the tours. It is situated close enough to Croatia to incorporate a second country into the tour. The locals are friendly and welcoming and the town has a relaxed and comforting feel about it.
The hotel owner is a fully trained chef and breakfast and home cooked evening meals are included in the package. Traditional food of Slovenia is local produced cuisine. The guesthouse has a small vegetable plot and much of the food is cooked fresh from their garden.
Slovenian food is also influenced by the neighboring countries' cuisines: Austria, Italy, Croatia, and Hungary. Its basis is cereals, dairy products, meat (especially pork), sea and fresh-water fish, vegetables, beans, olives, and grape. During this tour you have non-vegetarian, vegetarian, and whole food options.
