Accommodation

You will be accommodated for 13 nights in a single room with air conditioning at either guest houses or two to three-star hotels.

Program

Day 1: Negombo

Arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB), Ceylon Max Travels transfers you to the hotel where you can enjoy the golden coastal town of Negombo. As your first exercise, you visit the fishing village and explore the fishing industry of Sri Lanka. You overnight in Negombo beach.

Day 2: Negombo to Sigiriya

You leave to Sigiriya after a delicious meal in the morning and you are supposed to visit fineries and tile / brick manufactures in this journey. Also, you witness some other important places on the way. First, you visit the Dambulla cave temple on your way to Sigiriya. Then, a sufficient time is arranged for you to relax in a swimming pool at a hotel nearby the ancient Sigiriya rock after enjoying at these memorable exciting places.

Day 3: Sigiriya to Trincomalee

Heading back to the south, you arrive in Trincomalee across the former No Man's Land. You can witness the world famous natural deep-water harbor at Trincomalee. Trincomalee had been British Naval Base during World War II. There is also a war cemetery outside the town for sailors servicemen who perished during hostilities with the Japanese. You visit the historic Koneswaram Hindu temple, perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the ocean when passing through the bustling ocean when passing through the bustling Trincomalee town. The original temple dates to 400 BC but it has been restored later as it had been destroyed by the Portuguese colonialists who were intolerant of other religions. Now the Koneswaram temple is an attractive of worship with a lot of stunning views. You are supposed to spend the night in Nilaweli at the north of Trincomalee.

Day 4: Trincomalee

After having your morning breakfast, you will prepare to start your day by heading towards pigeon island in a boat. This island is known for snorkeling and you will have the opportunity to swim with tiny sharks and jellyfish in crystal clear water. Also, you can indulge in coral snorkeling where you will witness different species of fishes and turtles. After enjoying your lunch and spending your day on this island, you will head back to your hotel to spend the rest of the night. Overnight in Trincomalee.

Day 5: Trincomalee to Polonnaruwa

You move towards the west once for the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, the second kingdom of Sri Lanka. Polonnaruwa ruins and dagobas provide a fascinating insight into the post reign of glory. In the 11th century, Polonnaruwa replaced Anuradhapura as Sri Lanka's ruling city after a devastating invasion by invaders from South India. The King Parakramabahu I, the most famous king of Polonnaruwa, created the vast Parakrama Samudra (Sea of Parakrama) which remains one of the finest examples of Sri Lanka's skill at water management. You overnight in Polonnaruwa.

Day 6: Polonnaruwa to the Knuckles Mountain Range

Looming before you, you will catch sight of the recumbent folds and peaks of a section of the mountain known as the Knuckles for its resemblance to a clenched fist. Sinhalese locals have traditionally referred to this area as Dumbara Kanduvetiya which means a mist-laden mountain range. The entire area is characterized by its stunning landscapes often robed in thick layers of cloud and mist. You spend the night at the Knuckles Mountain Range.

Day 7: The Knuckles Mountain Range to Kandy

Kandy is the second-largest city in Sri Lanka after Colombo and it is famous for its Royal Botanical Gardens and the Temple of the Tooth. It is situated in a beautiful highland region of tea plantations. Kandy had been the capital city of the last remaining independent kingdom of Sri Lanka after the coastal regions were conquered by the Portuguese, Dutch, and British respectively from 1592 to 1815. At last, it was capitulated to the British. The famous Royal Botanical Gardens were the Lord Mountbatten's headquarters during the Second World War. You spend the night in Kandy.

Day 8: Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

You move towards the mountains higher and higher along the hairpin road until you reach Nuwara Eliya city, known as Little England from the days when the British used to retreat here to escape the scorching heat of the lowlands. Nuwara Eliya is situated at an altitude of 6,128 feet. You visit Ramboda Falls Hotel which is supposed to be the best spot adjacent to Ramboda Falls to taste a buffet while enjoying a fascinating view. Proceeding your journey, you approach a tea factory. In that factory, you would be having an excursion inside to gather some knowledge about tea manufacturing process. Also, you have an opportunity to taste and buy a variety of tea products. Nuwara Eliya is your day's last destination to accommodate in a lovely place.

Day 9: Nuwara Eliya to Haputale

After breakfast, you saddle up and set off on the back roads for the long climb up to Nuwara Eliya near the top of Sri Lanka's highlands. You ride along gravel and dirt tracks through tea estates and factories with stunning views of waterfalls and mountains. Having climbed up to the climax of the Nuwara Eliya, you descend to Haputale. This town is one of the unique places in Sri Lanka, straddling a spine in the mountains with panoramic views to the east, south, and west. You spend the night in Haputale.

Day 10: Haputale to Yala National Park

From Haputale, the road snakes down through the mountains onto the great southern plains leading to the Indian Ocean coast. You stop en route to visit Ravana Falls then head for the historic Buddhist rock carvings at Buduruwagala, deep in the jungle. Following newly-resurfaced roads, you ride east from Wellawaya to Buttala then south to historic Kataragama, passing through national parkland teeming with elephants. You spend the night in Tissamaharama.

Day 11: Yala National Park to Mirissa

You trade in the motorbikes for 4WD jeeps today for a safari-style excursion through Yala National Park. Yala is home to a mind-boggling variety of wildlife species from butterflies to leopards. Get up close to some of these exotic animals and marvel at the astounding beauty of Sri Lanka as you travel through the park in your jeep. Leave the jungles and mountains to follow the majestic coastline of southern Sri Lanka to Mirissa. Having made your way through Sri Lanka's interior, today, it's time to return to the coast. Shortly after leaving Yala, you'll hit the shoreline and then head west around the southern tip of the country. The ride is an easy one, flat quiet roads which run parallel to the sea but nevertheless spectacular. In the afternoon, you'll reach Mirissa beach where you spend two nights relaxing in style.

Day 12: Mirissa and Galle

Waking up to a golden sandy beach, you will enjoy a morning swim with the sunrise and you will indulge in whale watching. Mirissa is known for its whale watching hotspots. After enjoying this truly unique experience of witnessing the giants of the ocean, you will head back to Mirissa and make your way to Galle. Having reached Galle, you will visit Galle Fort known for its ancient value of Dutch influence to this beautiful island followed by the British Empire where you could still witness the ancient architectural monuments. Galle Fort is the largest Dutch port still remaining in Sri Lanka where you can witness the Dutch churches, naval museums, and old colonial buildings some of which are converted to five-star hotels, and also enjoy the old Dutch hospital which now has been turned into a restaurant complex.

Within the Galle Fort, you will have walks through tiny alley roads with shops and indulge yourselves in a unique experience. Here, you will educate yourselves on how they defended themselves with this remarkable fort and war strategies. Afterward, you will make your way back to Mirissa and spend your night there reminiscing about what you've learned so far and the experiences you've had.

Day 13: Mirissa to Kitulgala

From Mirissa, you ride around the edge of the highlands to Kitulgala, location for Sir David Lean's famous 1957 film The Bridge on the River Kwai. Traces of the bridge built for the film still remain. Capping off your two-week adventure, you spend the day white-water rafting and canyoning. Under the guidance of expert paddlers, you'll white-water raft down the Kelani River passing through class three rapids and with occasional swimming breaks. Back on dry land, you'll do a short excursion up a narrow canyon near the Kelani River. With full harnesses and expert guides, you'll descend deep into the canyon jumping into plunge pools along the way.

Day 14: Kitulgala to Negombo

Today is your last day. On the last day, you would be heading to Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) on your choice. On the way, you would be shown rubber estates and coco plantations. Then, you would be taken to the beach hotel / airport where you can rest / fly with all these exceptional memories.
