10 Day Vivacious Ladakh: Srinagar to Manali Guided Motorcycle Tour in India

Itinerary

Day 1: Srinagar

Upon your arrival in Srinagar, you will get a warm welcome from a Crazy Riders Adventure Tours' representative at the hotel premises. The representative will hand over all your tour-related documents and will give you a brief about the tour. Spend a relaxed day in the hotel.

This day will be at your disposal to visit the locales of Srinagar and take in the beauty of this mesmerizing valley. Visit the Dal Lake for a shikara ride, the Mughal Gardens, the Shankracharya Temple, and other tourist attractions in Srinagar.

Remember to wrap up any last minute shopping and come back to the hotel by the evening. Overnight in Srinagar as from here, you will gear up for an early morning adventurous ride towards Kargil, as you kick off for the dream trip of your life.

Day 2: Srinagar - Kargil

As you begin your journey from the green land of Srinagar towards the dry and arid land of Leh Ladakh, you reach your first landmark, Sonamarg. You reach Kargil as you ride to cross the Zoji La Pass. Pave the way to reach the majestic Tiger Hill and salute the brave Indian Army and the national flag - ‘Tiranga’ and feel the pride of being an Indian.

Begin riding and cross Dras - the second coldest inhabited place on earth after Siberia (Russia) and visit the Dras War Museum to pay respects and pray for the peace of the brave souls of the valiant Jawans who fought and sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War of 1999. Overnight stay at Kargil.

Day 3: Kargil - Leh

The road from Kargil to Leh resembles a runway and constitutes the first part of the day’s journey. As you traverse from Kargil with an Islamic dominant population, to Leh, a Buddhist dominant area, you will feel the symbolic transformation. You cross Fotu La, the highest pass on the Leh - Srinagar road.

You visit the Lamayuru Monastery, which is the highest monastery in Ladakh, pray at Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and feel the magic of Magnetic Hill. Upon reaching Leh Ladakh, you take a break for one day for acclimatization.

Day 4: Leh rest day

On the fourth day of this tour, you can enjoy Leh as a place. After a hearty breakfast, set out for local sightseeing, exploring Leh and the neighboring attractions, visiting Shanti Stupa, Jama Masjid, Leh Palace, Polo Grounds, and the War Museum to name a few. In the later part of the day, check and gear up the bikes as necessary and get ready for the adventure that is to follow the next day.

Day 5: Leh - Nubra (via Khardung La)

Gear up and speed off on the smooth tarmac to meet the board showing “The Highest Motorable Road in the world” at Khardung La Pass. After taking a break for a photo session on this high pass to the Nubra Valley, you head towards Khardung village where you can have a quick break for tea and snacks. You proceed towards Nubra Valley as you cross the Khalsar and Diskit sectors.

Nubra Valley is a high altitude cold desert which mesmerizes every traveler with its unsurpassed naked beauty. This is probably the only place in Ladakh which gives a glimpse of snow clad mountains encompassing green pastures. The valley is comfortably located in the Karakoram range, and gives a feel of cold desert magical sand dunes, constantly changing shape and place. You have get to ride on double humped camels at the Nubra Valley. Travelers can also visit Turtuk village, the last Indian village that is open for tourists and adventure seekers. Overnight stay at camp.

Day 6: Nubra - Pangong (via the Shyok route)

From Nubra Valley, you head towards yet another fascinating place, Pangong Lake via the Shyok route. You take a left from Durbuk. After crossing Tangtse, you will see the first view of world famous Pangong Tso. Spend the night at lakeside camps. This gives you an additional opportunity to try real off-roading and experience water crossing. This also saves a day for you and you get a chance to ride along the Shyok River.

Day 7: Pangong - Leh (via Chang La)

After spending an unforgettable night on the bank of Pangong Tso, post breakfast you head towards Leh. Enroute you will cross the Changla Pass (third highest motorable pass) and have a quick break at Karu for refreshment. Overnight stay in your hotel at Leh.

Day 8: Leh - Sarchu

After a healthy breakfast in hotel, you head backwards towards Sarchu, the best destination to stay overnight. On the route of Leh - Manali highway, you will experience the tough and bumpy ride to the mighty Tanglang La (17582 feet) - the second highest motorable pass in the world, through the "highway to hell". Riding on this road can be tricky, demanding high alertness, cautioning the bikers at every turn as the elevation and turns are very sharp.

Enroute you will cross Karu, Upshi, Rumtse, Tanglang La (the second highest motorable road in the world), Debring, Pang, and will reach Sarchu. Overnight stay at camp in green mesmerising nature.

Day 9: Sarchu - Manali

Today get ready to finish up the tough and bumpy ride, and reach Manali to get refreshed in your own way. Say thanks to mighty Himalaya for your good and safe journey and enjoy overnight in Manali.

Day 10: Manali - home

After breakfast it’s time for all of you to say good bye and your memorable dream tour concludes here. Carry sweet unforgettable memories of Ladakh to cherish throughout life.

The major attractions in this Leh Ladakh tour are the Kargil War Memorial dedicated to the warriors who laid their lives in the Kargil War, entering the small yet adventurous city of Leh, also known as the land of lamas and monasteries, Khardung La and Tanglang La; the highest and next highest motorable roads in the world, the cold desert of Nubra and the double humped camels, world famous Pangong Lake, confluence of Indus and Zanskar river, and physics defying Magnetic Hill. On the way back, you will be able to enjoy the picturesque view of lesser known Sarchu and cross the Rohtang Pass, to enter Manali, where you will end this dream Leh Ladakh tour.
