Motorcycle Tour in Costa Rica

This is an itinerant road trip through Costa Rica, starting and returning from the capital San Jose. The circuit, which has a very varied itinerary, allows you to explore the mountainous roads of the central valley, the coastline of the Pacific coast with its typical seaside villages, as well as different volcanic regions in the center of the country. A rafting activity, a must for the thrill seekers, is proposed in the tour.

Accommodation

Your accommodation will be in shared double rooms in various hotels along the way. The choice of hotels depends on availability at the time of booking.

Program

Day 1: Airport - Santa Ana

  • Transfer from the airport to the hotel
  • Welcome cocktail
  • Briefing
  • Overnight stay in Santa Ana, a small typical town located 20 minutes from the airport of San Jose, the capital

Day 2 - Stage 1: Santa Ana - Playa Tambor

  • Briefing and handling of the motorcycles
  • Trip to Puntarenas in order to take the ferry, crossing of the Gulf of Nicoya (approximately 1 hour)
  • Arrival at Playa Tambor to spend the night

Day 3 - Stage 2: Playa Tambor - Samara

From Playa Tambor, you will follow the coast of the Peninsula by the south, going through Montezuma, Santa Teresa, and Coyote; until Samara where you will spend the night.

Day 4 - Stage 3: Samara - Arenal Lake

Departure from Samara and you will cross the highest area of the peninsula in the direction of Santa Cruz de Guanacaste - Nicoya. You will cross the Tempisque river in Cañas and finally arrive at the edge of the Arenal Lake, known for its thermal baths. You will spend the night right at the footage of the Arenal Volcano.

Day 5 - Stage 4: Arenal Lake - Rio Pacuare

You will head towards south east by the zone of San Carlos, Siquirres. Then, you will go up the central cordillera until Tres Equis, where you will leave the motorcycles for 1 hour of rafting. You will then get to the lodge by the edge of river, where you will spend the night.

Day 6 - Stage 5: Rio Pacuare - Santa Cruz de Turrialba.

You will continue the descent of the Pacuare river by rafting until Siquirres. Then get back on the motorcycles and head towards the Turrialba Volcano – Santa Cruz, where you will spend the night.

Day 7 - Stage 6: Santa Cruz de Turrialba - Dominical

Departure from Santa Cruz de Turrialba, heading towards Cartago by the National Park Tapanti. You will ride on the road of the "Cerro de la Muerte", San Isidro El General, and finish your day on the Pacific Coast, in Dominical, where you will spend the night.

Day 8 - Stage 7: Dominical - Playa Hermosa

You will head up north in the direction of Quepos, through the fields of palm trees plantations, then along the beaches until arriving to Playa Hermosa where you will spend the night.

Day 9 - Stage 8: Playa Hermosa - Santa Ana

You will be heading back towards the Central Valley, crossing the Tarcoles River (Crocodile River), going through Puriscal, and finish your day in Santa Ana - San José.

Day 10

Depending on the departure time of the plane, Enduro Tours Costa Rica will schedule the departure to Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO).

Location

You will tour through Costa Rica, from the central valley to the Pacific Coast, then to the volcanoes of the center of the country.

Food

This is a full board tour (except day 1 and day 10). Breakfasts are generally consumed in hotels where customers spend the night. Lunches and dinners are included (without alcoholic beverages) and consumed in establishments meet along the route, a typical Costa Rican cuisine will be favored in order to promote an immersion in the local gastronomic customs.
