Join this motorcycle tour with Epico Moto Adventure. Ricardo will be your riding buddy, not your tour guide. He will share all his knowledge and experience as a local, but most of all, enjoy the ride and the adventures you are about to embark. This is how Epico Moto Adventure sets the difference. This journey will take you to a wide variety of landscapes, colonial towns, and villages where you will experience the local culture and good vibes. Dramatic changes in terrain, altitude, microclimates, and food will be a constant along the trip. So, are you ready to experience Colombia? This will be without a doubt, the adventure of your life!
Your accommodation throughout the tour will be three to four-star boutique hotels. On the first and last day, you will be accommodated at Epico's guest house.
Ricardo, Epico Moto Adventures' owner, will pick you up at the airport and take you to Epico's guest house if you decide to stay with there (no additional charge).
After all the riders have arrived, you will go out for dinner to get to know your new adventure buddies. Paperwork signing and safety briefing will take place on the first day if time allows.
You head out north from Cali to Calima Lake through old and secondary roads that most locals don't even know existed. You will be off-roading within five minutes after you leave Epico Moto Adventures' headquarters.
On this first stretch, you have options of some really technical sections to get your heart pumping or you can take it nice and easy up the mountain highway with some really nice twisties.
This first day has cool surprises along the way switching from off-road to pavement all the way to Salento. At the end of the day, you make it to your first destination in the heart of the coffee region to enjoy a well-deserved dinner and walk around town.
You start bright and early to go visit the Cocora Valley, about 15 minutes of ride from Salento. Its unique vegetation and famous palm trees (tallest in the world) will be the perfect start for your second-day adventure ride.
Today's destination is top five most beautiful towns in Colombia, honoring its name Jardín (garden). You will ride through world-famous Colombian coffee and plantain fields, small villages, and dirt roads only local farmers use to transport their produce.
You will ride the Andes ridges and experience temperature and elevation swings along the way. The approach to Jardín is one of Ricardo's favorite views in Colombia and the spirit of this town will steal your heart.
If you already think this is the best riding you have ever done, think again. Today's destination will blow your mind. You will ride more twisties than you thought were possible in one day, a perfect mix of dirt and pavement will keep you entertained all day.
Guatapé is a really unique and colorful town sitting by a beautiful reservoir. Its peaceful surroundings and the view of the majestic Peñol Rock will make you want to move here.
Today, you conquer El Peñol, not on the bikes, but by walking up 740 steps on the side of the rock. It is a challenging climb but the views are so worth it when you get to the top if you are up for it.
Today's destination is another unique spot in the middle of the rainforest. You will experience it first hand and hopefully, have time to enjoy the marble river bed that runs along your cabins. This is a shorter riding day but not short on views, waterfalls, and twisties.
Yesterday was your shortest riding day. Today will be your longest, so be ready for a full day of amazing riding, switchbacks that will make you want to say "let's do it again", and views that will inspire you.
Your destination is a mid-sized city that grew from a small colonial town which is where you will be staying, Girón, Santander.
When is your rest day? You are tired. You're getting there but first, how about some paragliding over the Chicamocha Canyon? It is a short ride from Girón and on the way to your next destination, Barichara. Some claim that it is the most beautiful town in Colombia.
This ride is short but so sweet, the switchbacks and views of the canyon are breathtaking, and no better way to really enjoy them than on a tandem paragliding flight. You could also skip that and get to your boutique hotel, lay by the pool, and enjoy some beverages.
Finally, rest day, but wait, Epico Moto Adventures has so many options for activities in the area such as water rafting, rappeling down waterfalls, visiting the Chicamocha National Park, walking around the town, and so much more. Staying by the pool all day is also an option and totally up to you.
Today's ride is mostly paved but there is an optional off-road detour to a very unique river where you can stop for a swim and enjoy its natural Jacuzzi-like formations. Today's destination town is also very well known for its colonial architecture, archeological sites, charm, and its desertic surroundings.
Today is a long but easy ride and your destination hotel is something to look forward to. You will ride passing Bogotá, Colombia's capital, and then head to Girardot, a very popular weekend getaway town for its warm weather and outdoor activities.
Today's destination is one of a kind. You are headed to the Tatacoa Desert. You will have to ride across old bridges and tunnels and cross the Magdalena River on a small canoe to get to this place. The vegetation and terrain are unique to this part of the country and unlike anything you have seen on your previous destinations. An oasis of peace and beauty awaits you to spend the night.
You are headed to San Agustín, a town in the Andes mountains of western Colombia. It's known for its proximity to the San Agustín Archaeological Park, home to numerous pre-Colombian remains spread over several sites. This is a very relaxed and easy ride, just in time for your next rest day.
In San Agustín, you have options to go check out some archaeological sites, horseback ride, waterfall swim, or just walk around town and relax.
Hope you had a good rest in San Agustín as you need to be on top of your game for this ride. You will be riding through Trampolín de la Muerte or Trampoline of Death, the most dangerous road in Colombia. This is the road that connects the capital of the jungle department of Putumayo with its Andean / Pacific neighbor, Nariño.
This stretch of road is nothing but thrilling, exciting, and breathtaking. Be ready to be amazed and to have the ride of your life. Your beautiful destination hotel awaits by the calm waters of Laguna de la Cocha for a well-deserved rest and dinner.
As you make your way back to Cali, you head up north to beautiful Popayán. This town is well known for its colonial architecture and its contributions to Colombian cultural and political life. It is also known as the "white city" due to the color of the most of colonial houses and places in the city downtown.
This is a very scenic and enjoyable ride through the Andes mountain ranges, perfect conditions to start winding down and getting close to your last riding day.
Even though this is your last day and your adventure has come to an end, you still have options for some more off-roading. You will get back to Cali early afternoon with plenty of time to go out for your going away dinner and look back and enjoy all the amazing experiences you shared for the past two weeks riding around gorgeous Colombia.
Ricardo will take you back to the airport on time for your flight back home. Epico Moto Adventures will be more than happy to assist you with any additional travel plans you may have within Colombia.
You will be riding from four to eight hours per day on mixed terrain, anywhere from paved backroads to gravel, rocky sections, muddy sections depending on rain. Some days have more dirt than others. There are also options on some routes that you can choose from on or off-road. Experience with adventure motorcycles, 500 cc and up, is required.
Ricardo has been a motorcycle addict since a very young age. He moved back to his hometown in Cali, Colombia after living in the USA for 15 years. During this time, he had the chance to ride motorcycles in USA, Canada and Europe and part of South America. He was always convinced that Colombia was by far, the best adventure motorcycle destination for its variety in terrains, climates, landscapes, and most of all the kindness of its people.
Starting on your first night, Ricardo will take you out to dinner so you get a taste of Cali's nightlife. Next day, there will be breakfast by Ricardo at Epico's Guest House. Along the way, there are different options for lunch and snacks, depending on the pace. You will try most typical Colombian dishes, fruits, and veggies. Once you get to your final destinations, you will have a wider variety of dishes to choose from. Vegetarians can always be accommodated. Please let Epico Moto Adventures know about any food allergies or dietary restrictions.
