General itinerary

On this tour, you will first ride towards the coast (the ‘Surf’ part) to catch some fresh air, enjoy seafood, and ride the dramatic coastline along the Atlantic Ocean. Here, you will encounter small fishermen villages scattered along the coast.

When you go inlands to the Anti-Atlas Mountains, the landscapes will change immediately. Coloured mountains, with canyons and beautiful oasis will pass your route where you will end up near Tafraoute. You ride on towards east and your furthest point is near Tissint where you will sleep in a Bedouin camp (when available) or an Auberge.

Before crossing the High-Atlas Mountains, you first will stay in Oasis Fint in a special village with all descendants from Mali. Rashid’s mom will cook you an amazing meal and in the morning, a fresh baked flat bread.

From there, it’s time to ride back toward Marrakech via an amazing back-road. There will hardly be any traffic like on the Tiz I ‘n Tichka, but there will be curve after curve. And you’d better stay focused because the tarmac is not always that good.

Once back, you’ll enjoy a good warm shower and all other luxuries in your hotel that you left almost a week ago. In the evening, you’ll go for a farewell dinner in one of Marrakech’s best restaurants, where you will share stories of your great Moroccan adventure.

Riding abilities / skill levels

First of all, you don’t need to be an off-road expert to join the tours. You’ll need a minimum of 1-2 year experience on your motorcycle and for each tour, Explore360° has specified which experience you’ll need.

The Morocco ‘Surf and Turf’ tour is a level 2 all road tour, and is perfect for those who have joined a (2-day) off-road course and would like to start exploring the world from a gravel perspective. The ratio for off-road / road is 35 / 65% on this tour. But this still means that you can spend more time on the off-road part during the day.

The days can be long, depending on many factors (punctures, weather, etc.), so you have to be comfortable in most situations in order not to suffer fatigue too quickly. The pace is relaxed, as it is not a competition. You are traveling, not racing and will take a break frequently. There will be time enough to take pictures, movies, rest, etc.

On the longer tours, there are resting days to enjoy all the local cultural highlights and to refuel energy. Explore360° does want to emphasize that for the off-road tours that you need to be healthy and in a good physical condition. The riding, in combination with the weather, can make it challenging and strenuous.

The tour will bring you from Marrakech along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and then inwards to the Anti-Atlas Mountains and onwards to the High-Atlas Mountains, and back to Marrakech.
