Adventurous Motorcycle Tour Madagascar

During the tour, you will cover a wide variety of landscape, taking in extraordinary flora and fauna, and experiencing the warmth of the Malagasy people. The road system is limited, giving you a chance to ride through different terrain as you head south from the capital Antananarivo (Tana). You will use Africa Twin Motorbikes or Honda Transalp to transport you around Madagascar with a full support team as usual. This promises to be a tour of discovery in this intriguing and mysterious island.

During this tour, you will be accommodated at several hotels including Lemur Forest Camp, The Bamboo Club, and Hotel Belvedere.

Day 1: Antananarivo arrival

Today, you will arrive in Antananarivo and be transferred to a hotel. You may have a chance to explore the capital depending on your arrival time. Over dinner, you will have a chance to get acquainted and talk about the tour ahead with the motorcycle guide.

Day 2: From Antananarivo to Ampefy (140 kilometers / 87 miles)

You will leave the busy capital of Tana en route to Itasy Lake with its volcanoes and waterfalls. You will have picnic lunch near the waterfalls. Afterward, you will ride through beautiful countryside and hills along the way and arrive at your hotel for the night.

Day 3: From Ampefy to Antsirabe (135 kilometers / 84 miles)

From Ampefy, you will ride through villages, rice paddies, and highland tracks, enjoying beautiful vistas before arriving in Antsirabe.

Day 4: From Antsirabe to Ambohimahasoa / Fianarantsoa (205 kilometers / 127 miles)

On the route to your destination, you will take in the lakes of Andraikiba and Tritiva. You will then join Highway 7 and ride through great scenery of hills and valleys before crossing the valley to enter Ambohimahasoa, where you will overnight at Lemur Forest Camp. You may also have night tour of the reserve.

Day 5: From Ambohimahasoa to Manakara (300 kilometers / 186 miles)

Today, you will head to the east coast to the town of Manakara, out through the rainforest and hills, down to plantations, and finish in the sea.

Day 6: From Mankara to Mananjary (180 kilometers / 112 miles)

You may have experienced a morning canoe trip on the Pangalanes with a picnic lunch. As a channel river enclosed by lush vegetation, you will ride to Mananjary for the night.

Day 7: From Mananjary to Ranomafana (170 kilometers / 106 miles)

In the morning, you will visit this small town in the Indian Ocean rim, its sea, and its market. From Mananjary, which is known for its vanilla and coffee, you will head to Ranomafana National Park driving through the lush rainforest as you approach the national park. That night, you will have a chance to have a nocturnal visit to the park for those who wish to.

Day 8: Ranomafana rest day

Extreme Bike Tours has chosen a rest day here in order to explore the national park. This is a mountainous park covered in rainforest, one of the most spectacular parks in the island. You will take guides to help you spot some of the animals that lurk within.

Day 9: From Ranomafana to Fianarantsoa (125 kilometers / 78 miles)

You will visit the upper town and have lunch at Panda Restaurant. Afterward, you will continue on the road to Ambalavao and visit the town. You will head towards the Deep South now on a wonderfully scenic road with rock formations sacred to the Malagasy and finish the day in the town of Ambalavao which is famous for its vineyards.

Day 10: From Ambalavao to Ranohira (240 kilometers / 149 miles)

Continuing south, you will pass through the Anja reserve which is famous for fearless ring-tail lemurs "makis". Onwards through the territories of Ihosy, you will arrive in the village of Ranohira.

Day 11: Isalo National Park rest day

Extreme Bike Tours dedicates the day to visit the Isalo National Park which is known for its sandstone formations and canyons, a truly Jurassic scene.

Day 12: From Ranohira to Ifaty (260 kilometers / 162 miles)

You will take the road to Tulear and gradually leave the mountains behind you and enter the dry landscapes of the southern bush. Continuing on, you will arrive in Ifaty, a remote beach village with beautiful water. You will end the day at The Bamboo Club.

Day 13: Ifaty day trip (120 - 250 kilometers / 75 - 155 miles)

For your final day, you will explore the Deep South a little but first, you will head to the Ifaty forest where you can see baobab trees and drive to the north to Befandriana before heading back to Ifaty for dinner.

Day 14: From Tulear to Antananarivo

Today, you will be transferred to Tulear with onwards flights to Antananarivo, where you will overnight at Hotel Belvedere and enjoy a final dinner before your onwards flights.

Day 15: End of the tour

Your tour has ended. You will continue with your onward flights.

Notes: Extreme Bike Tours can change the tour itinerary without notification if required to deal with any issues that may arise in the countries operate in, very often due to adverse weather conditions. Madagascar lies off the southeast coast of Africa and is the fourth largest island in the world, home to more indigenous species than anywhere else in the world. Meanwhile, Antsirabe is the third largest city in Madagascar which has a relatively cool climate and a large number of pousse-pousses or hand pulled rickshaws populating the street.

Please book your flight to arrive at Ivato International Airport (TNR). Transfer from and to the airport is included. The organizer will pick you up from the airport.
