Your Foxy Wheels experience will not be a race, a trail ride, or hard enduro. It will be an adventure designed to fully satisfy riders with either less or more experience, driving through unique on and off-road routes. All they need is your company and a taste for adventure and let Foxy Wheels take care of the rest!
During this motorcycle tour, you will stay in unique and traditional boutique hotels in a single occupancy for three nights.
The two buildings, in which the hotel is housed, was completed in 2006 and include three spacious rooms and two suites. The walls are 55 centimeters thick. The walls and windows are constructed by heavy rock-sculpted transoms, doorsteps, and windows, untouched by time.
During the construction period, hard work gave all those elements which are required for the comfort and the technological equipment of the rooms. All the rooms have their own bathrooms, their own heating, and a fireplace.
The furniture are authentic antiques of the family constructed during 1885 to the 1950’s. The carpets are from the Upper East whereas the chandeliers, Murano and Swarovski, are from Prague and Venice.
The rooms designed for you can meet your every wish. The hotel has a suite for lovers of comfort and luxury, two triples and eight doubles, fully-equipped. All rooms are equally spacious and tastefully decorated, ideal for rest and tranquility.
Particular attention was paid to the interior decoration of the hotel, dominating the stone, wood, and the choice of distinctive earthy and pastel colors, warming the visitor's senses and creating an atmosphere of serenity and enjoyment. The rooms have names inspired by deities and nymphs and are fully equipped with a fireplace, independent heating, TV, free Wi-Fi wireless internet, a hairdryer, and personal care sets.
The team will accompany you and drive with you through Greek nature where you will have unlimited off-road choices. They will guide you through natural and archaeological treasures with a history of thousands of years and the mountain combined with the sea. You will enjoy Greece's rich gastronomy and hospitality. With Foxy Wheels, you will ride into the heart of nature and discover all those wonderful treasures.
You will arrive in Trikala, Corinth in the afternoon, check in, and have a sumptuous dinner.
%Before the departure, Foxy Wheels will give you a short briefing about the route and a cross check as far as your motorcycles and safety gear is concerned. The route is designed for big on-off motorcycles as well as riders with limited experience on off-road routes. More experienced riders can have a co-rider if they wish. You will start with a narrow asphalt road of 10 kilometers to the village of Mana so that you and your motorcycles warm up before the main dirt road section.
Leaving behind the village of Mana, you will enter the eastern side of Mount Ziria, where you will be surrounded by fir trees and also enjoy a panoramic view of the area that reaches the sea. You will continue and descend to the village of Kefalari where endless hills with old vineyards will stretch before you. From there, you will ride to lower altitudes, mainly passing through low vegetation and white dirt roads.
You will descend to the plain of Nemea where the famous mythical hero, Hercules, killed the well-known lion of Nemea and where he terrified the region with his attacks. The area of Nemea has a long history in the production of wine and virgin olive oil, winning each year international awards for the quality of its products.
Depending on the season, you will meet the region's farmers in their vineyards or olive groves. From that point, a small surprise will be there waiting for you. You will continue to ride south through orange-mandarin and apricot trees and you will reach Mycenae in the prefecture of Argos. In a short while, you will feel a different breeze. You guessed right, you will be headed towards the sea.
In just 20 kilometers, you will reach an idyllic tavern next to the sea where you will enjoy seafood and fresh traditional salads made from local produce. Your return will take place through the prefecture of Argos and will begin from the city of ancient Mycenae which has a history of thousands of years.
You will cross the mountain that connects the prefecture of Argos with the prefecture of Korinthos to the village of Agios Vasileios. You will enjoy from above, the ancient city of Mycenae and the view with the Argolic Bay stretching out in front of you In a relatively short time, you will reach ancient Nemea where you will see the ancient temple.
From there, you will climb the northeastern part of the forest Grava, through the village of Gonousa, to the foothills of Mount Ziria, and touch base to your final destination for the day.
On day three, the route will be quite different and a bit more technical, starting with an uphill ascent of 10 kilometers to the ski center of Mount Ziria. You can warm up yourselves and your motorcycles. In the middle of the well-mapped dirt roads, you will enjoy the plateau of Mount Ziria and from there, you will descend, looking for the village of Goura at the mountainous Korinthos and then the chapel of Agios Fanourios which is located in the center of the artificial Doxis Lake of Feneos.
The chapel joins the land with a narrow strip of land, a chapel so small that it is in perfect harmony with the exceptional beauty of the lake and the landscape. The artificial Doxis Lake of Feneos is situated at an altitude of 900 meters on Mount Helmos and just opposite the foothills of Mount Ziria. Every season, the landscape changes colors and an array of smells will tickle your senses.
There, you will meet local producers who will encourage you to try their products. Make sure you try everything. The flavors will surprise you. Behind you will be the prefecture of Korinthos. An uphill passage will take you to the southeastern part of Mount Helmos where the landscape will become even more fierce and green due to the dense forests, large plane trees, and cool streams.
Then, you will reach the beautiful and picturesque village of Planitero. That will be your break for lunch, next to the running waters of the village and the dew from the plane trees in the area. The menu will be traditional and of course. You will be given the opportunity to try a local trout. After finishing the food, you will continue and in a very short time, you will reach your next stop where you will meet the support car.
You will change by wearing comfortable shoes because you will have time to visit a totally different world, the world of the Lake Cave. You will leave behind the cave and reach the village of Lousi on the west side of Mount Helmos. You will be, again, entering the dirt track of your route, starting with a hill passage heading deep into the forest.
The terrain will become more red and smooth until you begin to descend to a piece of a more challenging part of the route until your next stop in Lake Tsivlou. Lake Tsivlou is in the prefecture of Achaia and at an altitude of 800 meters. It was created on March 24, 1913, when the Kathi river bed was blocked by a large landslide.
The lake has an area of 200 acres and a depth of 80 meters. The name of the lake comes from the village of Tsivlos which was partially damaged after the landslide. The local tradition calls it "Black Lake" for the damage it caused. On the present day, Lake Tsivlou is a major wetland habitat that hosts many species of flora and fauna.
You will have the opportunity to admire and immortalize the lake with your cameras. From Lake Tsivlou, you will continue to the picturesque village of Zarouchla Achaias which has wonderful paved streets and you will be in the northwest part of Mount Helmos, heading for the prefecture of Korinthos.
You will descend to the plains of Feneos and from there, you will reach the foothills of Mount Zireia, taking you to the base. Before the tour is over, another surprise will be waiting for you in the Lake of Dassia. The lake is situated at an altitude of 1,600 meters and is formed by the waters flowing there from the surrounding peaks of Mount Ziria.
The fir trees dominate the landscape while the whole area is overgrown. The motorcycles will pass by the lake, giving you the opportunity to see all of it. The spectacle is amazing and will definitely reward you.
You will enjoy your breakfast and depart to Athens International Airport (ATH).
You will visit the unique Cave of Lakes. The "Cave of Lakes" presents paleontological and biospilaiological interest as the lower floor of the cave was found with fossilized human bones and various animals including the hippopotamus. The caves are a place of magic, mystery, and not just for children or poets.
The Cave of the Lakes is not only a superb natural wonder, it is also a valuable cultural monument that you need to know from all sides. Only by that way, you can protect the unique nature of the caves, keep it you’re your cultural heritage, and protect the caves. It is your culture and duty.
