  • Mileage: 1,851 kilometers / 1,150 miles
  • Daily rides: 242 kilometers / 150 miles
  • Meals: three daily meals, snacks, and drinks

Day 1: Las Vegas

On your first day, you will meet with the group around 5 p.m. at the Silverton Hotel & Casino to enjoy some drinks and appetizers as you get to know each other and discuss the tour. You will go over any questions you may have, learn about the itinerary, and provide some insight into what to expect over the next eight days of riding the beautiful Southwest.

Day 2: Las Vegas, Kingman, Oatman, and Laughlin

This day, around 8 a.m., you will take off from Las Vegas and head over to Kingman, Arizona on the asphalt. From Kingman, you will take one of the most twisty windy sections of Route 66 to Oatman, where you will pick up on the Nevada Backcountry Discovery Route (NVBDR) route.

In Oatman, you will check out the local burros and ride to Laughlin, Nevada and stay in a hotel right along the Colorado River. As time allows, after checking into your room, you may take a ride to see the Glen Canyon Dam and take a swim in Lake Mojave.

Day 3: Primm, Pahrump, Amargosa

After breakfast, you will head to Primm and work your way towards Good Springs, home of the well-known Pioneer Saloon. After checking out the Pioneer Saloon, you will take off on part of the Spanish Trail to Pahrump and then Ash Meadows, a true oasis in the desert. You will stay the night in Amargosa where you can swim, get a good night's sleep, and enjoy a nice dinner.

Day 4: Big Dunes, Beatty, Goldfield, and Tonopah

After breakfast, you will depart to Big Dunes, which offers 400-foot tall desert sand dunes. Don’t worry, you won't be riding the dunes with fully loaded bikes in the summer heat. You will make your way towards Beatty and Rhyolite, which offers a step back in time with its historic mining district and ghost town.

You will ride along the historic Titus railroad bed along an old Vegas to Reno off-road race course to Gold Point and towards Goldfield, another mining and ghost town. From Goldfield, you will make your way to Tonopah to enjoy a dinner and an overnight stay at this historic town right on the Main Street. The dinner will be at the best barbecue in central Nevada at the Tonopah Brewing Company.

Day 5: Belmont, Austin

As you head north from Tonopah, the desert gives way to ever changing plant life, vast open valleys, and wild mustangs on the open range. You will run along the Tonopah Test Range toward Belmont ghost town, over mountain passes toward Kingston Canyon, an amazingly beautiful canyon full of water crossings as you head to historic Austin, Nevada along the Pony Express trail. After taking some fuel and supplies, you will spend the night at a beautiful old cabin on the Young Ranch.

Day 6: Austin to Elko

This is your big day when you will enjoy 220 miles / 355 kilometers of some of the best riding in Nevada. You will hit the Pony Express Trail riding north through huge valleys and over several mountains passes to ride along an old stage coach route.

A great overgrown two-track road that twists and winds its way to more first class riding in the hills. You will ride along parts of the Immigrant Trail and enter Elko via the old Hamilton Stage Coach route right into town for showers and dinner at the best Basque restaurant in Northern Nevada. After a good night’s rest, you will be prepared for the last section of the tour.

Day 7: Elko to Jarbidge

You will slab it on the pavement north past all the private ranch land and back towards more trail riding full of wild mustangs, thousands of rabbits, and herds of antelope. This day, you will ride the best experience Nevada has for Adventure riders. High deserts, streams, mountains, and beautiful alpine settings. This area is known as the Alps of Nevada.

Your destination is Jarbidge, an amazing and small mountain community resting along the Nevada and Idaho border. In Jarbidge, you will enjoy a nice dinner, get some gas, and camp out along the river to celebrate and talk about such a bucket list adventure.

Day 8: Jarbidge to Elko

After breakfast, you will be off heading south back through the Jarbidge Range to Elko where the trip will come to an end. From there, you may take off as you please to head home.

Testimonials

  • Review by Tracy Jeffries

"I just want to thank you again for the most amazing time and ride and a huge thank you for letting me ride one (the pretty one) of your Africa Twins. I really had a blast on it and was impressed at how well it handles, how comfortable it was, the power at a flick of the wrist and it's deep growl to action. I also really enjoyed everyone in the group and feel like I have new friends and expect to see and ride with some on another day."

"You have a wonderful operation- from the planning and customer service, the friendliness, the adventure riding experience and the overall "positive vibes" and infectious enthusiasm that you all put out really make your operation very special. Thank you for ALL that each of you did the past week to make our lives better, and thank you for the enrichment you offered. In a world that overwhelms with so much noise and stress, they're is truly nothing as magical as being able to hop on the bike each day and head out to the backcountry. Regardless of the weather, the terrain or any other factors it's the people who make the difference and I want to thank you for facilitating such a high quality experience for our group."
