Program

Etosha National Park is your first destination. Then, you will visit Damaraland with its majestic flat-topped mountains, granite rock formations, and numerous rock paintings. The scenery continually changes as you travel through this beautiful dry, arid country. The cold Atlantic Ocean greets you as you head to Swakopmund. After some unbelievable riding, your next spectacular destination is Sossusvlei with its majestic sea of dunes. A visit to Dune 45 and Deadvlei is a must. You head further south to Luderitz, visit the ghost town of Kolmanskop as well as the Fish River Canyon before heading back to Windhoek.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Windhoek

Arrive in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital city, which is sheltered by the Eros Mountains in the east and the Aus Mountains in the south. Do a self-drive tour through Windhoek and get a feel for this town with its African and Western cultures and old colonial German buildings.

Day 2 - Etosha (420 kilometers / 261 miles)

You leave after an early breakfast and head for Etosha, the Great White Place. You ride north out of Windhoek, through the Waterberg Plateau, to your destination.

Day 3 - Etosha National Park

Today is a rest day. A half day game drive into Etosha has been organized for you. Hopefully, you will get to see some of the Big Five.

Day 4 - Damaraland (315 kilometers / 196 miles)

You leave this 22,000 square kilometer park and head west. The scenery will change as you head towards Damaraland with its majestic flat-topped mountains, granite rock formations, numerous rock paintings and a couple of other attractions.

Day 5 - Damaraland (151 kilometers / 94 miles)

Today you have a short ride through some spectacular scenery. You visit the Petrified Forest, Twyfelfontein Rock paintings, Burnt Mountain and Organ Pipes. The day is slow and leisurely and your camera will be working overtime.

Day 6 - Swakopmund (326 kilometers / 203 miles)

Get ready for another change of scenery today. You leave Damaraland, riding through interesting rock formations, grasslands, and camel thorn bush and then a complete change. Be ready for a drop in temperature as you head to the west coast.

Before arriving at your hotel, you will stop in at the Cape Cross Seal Reserve. The reserve is the home of one of the largest colonies of Cape fur seals in the world. You visit Henties Bay and then ride the Salt Road to Swakopmund.

Day 7 - Swakopmund

Today is a rest day. Take time to explore Swakopmund with its strong German influence. Maybe go dune boarding, do a Living Desert tour or swap your two wheels for four. The day is yours.

Day 8 - Namib-Naukluft Park (358 kilometers / 222 miles)

Now things get interesting. You finally reach the desert and be prepared to have your socks knocked off. You ride through two scenic passes and ride in and out of the Namib-Naukluft Park. The Naukluft Mountains form part of the dramatic escarpment which separates the coastal plains from the inland plateau.

Day 9 - Sesriem and Sossusvlei

You leave early and head for Sesriem and Sossusvlei National park. Here, the energetic ones can climb this most photographed dune, DuDe 45 and have a birds’ eye-view of the Sea of Dunes. These beautiful red dunes move the soul. Those that would like to, can catch a transfer into Sossusvlei itself and visit Deadvlei as well.

Day 10 - Aus (431 kilometers / 268 miles)

Another early start but the ride is truly scenic. Today you head further south and will spend the next two days at Aus. As you travel, the landscape changes continually. You have to keep reminding yourself that you are still in the same country.

Day 11 - Aus (240 kilometers / 149 miles)

Today can be a rest day but you are recommended a ride through to Luderitz, taking in Kolmanskop and the Wild Desert horses en-route. While in Luderitz, visit Shark Island and once again, just marvel at the vast differences in landscape and geology that Namibia has to offer.

Day 12 - Fish River Canyon (336 kilometers / 209 miles)

You have a fairly short ride to the spectacular Fish River Canyon. You are able to ride to the viewing points and spend some time at this, the second biggest canyon in the world.

Day 13 - Kalahari (394 kilometers / 245 miles)

You leave the south and start on your journey north. You visit the Quiver Tree forest and Giants Playground on your way to the Kalahari, the fourth desert in Namibia.

Day 14 - Windhoek (275 kilometers / 171 miles)

The last leg of your journey is on good old tar. You travel through central Namibia and once again the ever-changing landscape surprises you. Upon arrival in Windhoek, you can visit some craft markets. Tonight you have your final dinner at a very well-known and unique pub.
