Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

You will be picked up from Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) and taken to the hotel in Kathmandu. In the first half day, you will be escorted to Himalayan Roads Nepal's office after getting refreshed to fill the registration and consent form and complete papers and taken to an hour of a ride to let you know the traffic and roads of Nepal. You will attend a few hours class to make you familiar with Nepalese culture (DOs and DON'Ts in Nepalese villages).

Day 2: Kathmandu to Besisahar (106 kilometers / 66 miles)

After taking breakfast, you will start riding with the road captain followed by the technician support vehicle. Lunch will on the highway hotel. Reach Besisahar, a hilly town on the way to Manang. This will be a highway ride with curvy roads followed by Trishuli and Marsyangdi River. Stay at a Besisahar hotel. The ride will take six hours today.

Day 3: Besihahar to Chame (66 kilometers / 41 miles)

After breakfast, you will start riding through some graveled roads constructed by the Khudi Hydropower which also follows a half kilometer long tunnel road and encounter the rocky off-road trails to reach to Chame (altitude 2,650 meters), the capital town of Manang district. Lunch will be on the way. Stay at a hotel in Chame. The journey will take seven hours today.

Day 4: Chame to Manang Valley (31 kilometers / 19 miles)

After breakfast, ride ascends to rocky off-road trails and follows some grasslands with the fascinating views of waterfalls, greenery, snow covered mountains, crossing the chilling rivulets. Lunch will be on the way. Reach Manang Valley (altitude 3,540 Meters). Stay at a hotel in Manang valley. After checking into the hotel and a cup of coffee, a short hike will be done to Gangapurna Lake and nearby hill to acclimatize the body. The ride will be four hours today.

Day 5: Manang Valey to Tilicho Lake base camp (20 kilometers / 12 miles)

After breakfast, you will go for a short hike again to acclimatize the body. Start riding to reach Khangsar (altitude 3,730 meters). Lunch will be at Khangsar. This is the end of the road and you will start trekking to Tilicho Lake base camp (altitude 4,150 meters). The trekking trail follows a moderately steep rocky mountain. You will stay at a tea house at the base camp. A short hike to the nearby hill will be done to acclimatize. The ride takes one and a half hours while the trekking takes four hours.

Day 6: Trekking to Tilicho Lake

After a cup of tea or coffee (garlic soup is preferred) and some light breakfast in the early morning (around 5:00 a.m.), start trekking to Tilicho Lake (altitude 4,920 meters). This trail is all uphill following steep rocky mountains and needs to cross an altitude of 5,000 meters. After spending an hour at the lake, before the wind starts, you will need to trek down to the base camp. Take lunch and hike back to Khangsar. Start riding and reach Manang valley. Trek hours will be four hours uphill, two hours downhill to the base camp, and two hours to Khangsar.

Day 7: Khangsar to Timang

After breakfast, ride back to Timang - a beautiful village located at the foothill of the mountain. Overnight in Timang. Total ride is seven hours.

Day 8: Timang to Besisahar

After breakfast, ride back to Besisahar. Check into a hotel and get refreshed. You may go for swimming in the hotel swimming pool. In the evening time, there will be a barbecue and music program to celebrate the achievement. Total five hours ride will be done today.

Day 9: Besisahar to Kathmandu

Take breakfast and ride back to Kathmandu. Lunch will be on the way. Gather at Himalayan Roads Office followed by a feedback meeting. The crew will drop you to a hotel and you may hang around Thamel which opens till late night.

Day 10: Kathmandu

After breakfast, you will be taken to a sightseeing tour around Kathmandu including the old Durbar squares, monkey temple, Pashupatinath, etc. You will be taken to a typical Nepali restaurant for a dinner that serves mouth watering Nepali cuisines and you will get an event souvenir.

Day 11: Departure

Take breakfast and pack up. The team will drop you to Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM).

Rules on the road

  • Traffic in Nepalese road is hectic so everyone needs to follow the road captain or guide
  • Some behaviors may be culturally sensitive, which will be orientated before departure

Ram Krishna has ridden through all the motor-able roads including highways and extreme off-roads of Nepal in his 20 years of motorcycling experience. He is an experienced Royal Enfield motorcyclist and has taken number of riders to the major highways and off-roads of Nepal.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flights to arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM). Transfer from and to this airport is included in the price. Himalayan Road Nepal will pick you up at the airport.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 25% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
