This is a motorcycle tour to Delhi and Himachal Pradesh where you will travel to some of the best known places of the hill state, meandering your ways across hills and mountain terrain on a Royal Enfield and exploring the heritage and culture of this region.

During this tour, you will be accommodated in various hotels in twin sharing basis. You hotel are as follows:

  • Hometel or Lemon Tree or similar (four-star) in Chandigarh
  • Woodville Palace (heritage hotel) in Shimla
  • Munish Resort (two-star basic) in Mandi
  • Taragarh Palace (heritage four-star) in Taragarh
  • Norling or similar (boutique) in Dharamshala
  • Judge’s Court / Chatteu (boutique heritage) in Pragpur
  • Sarovar or Ramada (four-star) in Amritsar
  • Radisson or similar (five-star) in Delhi


Day 1: Arrive Delhi

You will be met on arrival at Delhi Airport and transferred to hotel. On arrival, check in and overnight at hotel. Check in is at 12 noon.

Day 2: Delhi - Chandigarh (by train)

In the morning, you will be transferred to railway station to connect Shatabadi express for Chandigarh (departure is at 7:40 a.m. and arrival at 11:00 a.m.). You will be met on arrival at Chandigarh station and be transferred to hotel.

In the afternoon, proceed for a short city tour of Chandigarh which was designed by the French Architect La Corbusier. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Chandigarh - Kalka (30 kilometers / 18 miles / 45 minutes) - Shimla (by World Heritage train)

In the morning, you will be transferred to Kalka station to connect to the train to Shimla (departure at 12:10 p.m. and arrival at 5:20 p.m.). Kalka Shimla railway was opened in 1903 and is a World Heritage Site now. You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Shimla

You will have a sight seeing tour in the morning including a visit to the Vice Regal Lodge and Jakho Temple. Spend the afternoon walking around on the mall and the ridge, taking possession of the Royal Enfield bikes, and the enthusiastic ones can drive around the town. Overnight at hotel

Day 5: Shimla - Mandi (191 kilometers / 117 miles / 6 - 7 hours)

After breakfast, drive on the Royal Enfield to Mandi crossing through Naldehra, Tatapani, and Chindi to reach Mandi. On arrival in Mandi, check in at the hotel. In the evening, you can walk around the colorful market and also visit some old temples on the banks of river Beas. Overnight at hotel.

Day 6: Mandi - Taragarh (90 kilometers / 56 miles / 4-5 hours)

After breakfast, drive on your Royal Enfield bike from Mandi to Taragarh via visiting Bir and Sherbaling Monasteries and also visit beautiful old Vaidyanath Temple at Baijnath. On arrival check in at hotel.

in the evening, you have an option to walk or ride to Tashijong Monastery visiting the Gompa and the village. Overnight at hotel.

Day 7: Taragarh - Dharamshala (50 kilometers / 31 miles / 2 - 3 hours)

After breakfast at the hotel, ride to McLeod Ganj which is also known as The Little Lhasa and is home to His Holiness The Dalai Lama. McLeod Ganj has colorful lines of small shops selling steaming hot momos, Tibetan artifacts, and numerous other things.

On arrival check in at hotel. Evening is spend at leisure walking around the market. Overnight at hotel.

Day 8: Dharamshala

While in McLeod Ganj, the day is free at leisure or to ride around visiting The Dalai Lama Temple, Bhagsunag Temple, and St. John’s Church or may be visit Norbulingka Institute and a few villages around. Overnight at hotel.

Day 9: Dharamshala - Pragpur (75 kilometers / 46 miles / 3 - 4 hours)

Ride through the glorious past of Kangra Valley covering Kangra town, Brajeshwari Devi Temple (optional), Raja Sansar Chand Museum, Kangra Fort, and Masrur Rock Cut Temples. Ride across the countryside to the heritage village of Pragpur.

On arrival check in at hotel. Evening is free for exploring and walking around the heritage village of Pragpur. Overnight at hotel.

Day 10: Pragpur - Amritsar (186 kilometers / 116 miles / 6 - 7 hours)

After breakfast, ride to the fertile plains of Punjab to the holy city of Amritsar. On arrival check in at hotel. In the evening, visit the Golden Temple to view the Palaki Sahib Ceremony. You will bid farewell to your companions the Royal Enfields, carrying fond memories and promise to meet again. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11: Amritsar - Delhi (by train) and departure in Delhi

Early morning, you will be transferred to the railway station to connect a train back to Delhi (departure at 5:00 a.m. and arrival at 11:15 a.m.). You will be met on arrival and transferred to the hotel to wash and change only for three hours en-route driving past India Gate and Presidents House.

Later at around 3:30 p.m., you will be picked up from the hotel and have some free time to shop last minute souvenirs. You will all enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant and later be transferred to the international airport to connect to your flight back home.

About the motorbike Royal Enfield

Royal Enfield was the name under which the Enfield Cycle Company made motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers, and stationary engines. This legacy of weapons manufacture is reflected in the logo, a cannon, and their motto "Made like a gun, goes like a bullet".

Use of the brand name Royal Enfield was licensed by the Crown in 1890. The original Redditch, Worcestershire based company was sold to Norton-Triumph-Villiers (NVT) in 1968. Production ceased in 1970 and the company was dissolved in 1971.

In 1956, Enfield of India started assembling bullet motorcycles under license from UK components, and by 1962 were manufacturing complete bikes. Enfield of India bought the rights to use the Royal Enfield name in 1995.

Royal Enfield production, based in Chennai, continues and Royal Enfield is now the oldest motorcycle brand in the world still in production with the bullet model enjoying the longest motorcycle production run of all time.

Bike rental deposit

A bike refundable security deposit is required and it costs 10,000 INR per bike. Other extra cost on tour is payable towards lunch and dinner and any damages of bikes if it happens. Damage of the bikes of any kind due to any accident / fall or any other reason, etc. during the tour would have to be paid by the guest as per actual cost occurred for the damage.

In case of any eventuality of any kind, bike damages have to be paid. Also guest has to have his own insurance from country of origin which covers such a tour.


Bike rider needs to have a valid international driving license which should cover driving a two-wheeler.

Support vehicle information

A support vehicle will be provided (utility jeep or mini truck) which would carry mechanic / spares / client baggage only. Mechanic would carry basic spares for the bikes. Any wear and tear or damage to bike or maintenance spares required have to be paid in actual (extra) to the mechanic by group members.

During the tour Himalayan Saga tries to become part of a heritage of the mountain state and start the tour with a visit to Chandigarh which was designed by the French Architect La Corbusier.

Kalka to Shimla has a train connection which was opened for traffic more than a century ago in 1903 and has now been declared a World Heritage Site and while on tour you will also experience this rich heritage.

You will start the motorcycle tour from Shimla which was once the capital of British India. From here, travel to Dharamshala which is now the seat of Tibetan Government in Exile and abode of His Holiness The Dalai Lama.

On your journey from Shimla, enjoy overnight stays at heritage hotels in Shimla, Taragarh, and Pragpur and cross several picturesque points, villages, temples, monasteries, and cheerful people.

From Dharamshala, trace more of Kangra Valley visiting a fort, rock cut temples to the heritage village of Pragpur. Towards the end of tour, you will ride to the holy city of Amritsar which is famous for the Golden Temple and is second most visited monument in India after Taj Mahal.
