Motorcycle Tour Tibet and Nepal

A motorcycle ride in Tibet is not for the faint-hearted. The high desert plateau entails crossing a few 5000 meter passes and high altitude sickness is a primary concern. People need to be reasonably fit to combat the exhaustion and long hours of riding in such a tough terrain. Most of the road is paved, with the exception of the ride from Tingri to Rongbuk for about 79 kilometers, where it is presently being graveled.

You will be staying in twin-sharing room at accommodations selected by I Am Adventure. You will spend one night in Syabrubesi on twin sharing basis inclusive of dinner and breakfast and all applicable govt taxes (currently 24.3%). You will also have accommodations on MAP basis (dinner and breakfast) for two nights stay at Kyirong (guest house), two nights stay in Thingri (Gonkar Hotel), and one night stay in Rongbuk (Rongbuk Guest House).

Arrive in Kathmandu and application of Tibet visa.

Motorbike checking and local sightseeing.

Day 4: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

The tour will take you from Kathmandu, Nepal into Tibet where you will roam around to find all of the interesting places before you head back into Nepal.

  • Support of a 4X4 back up vehicle to carry luggage and spares for Nepal portion Kathmandu / Syabrubesi / Kathmandu including driver and his daily allowances
  • Services of an experienced mechanic including their meals, accommodation, daily allowance, and visa fees
  • Support at the customs and immigration office at the border for the clients and the motorcycles clearance
  • Visa fee (urgent) for Tibet of 85 USD (process which takes three working days) per person for all nationals except US nationals (US nationals need to pay an additional 85 USD), visa fees are subject to change without notice
  • Services of an experienced knowledgeable road captain on motorcycle including his meals, accommodation, daily allowance and visa fees
  • Support of a twin cab truck to carry spare parts and luggage and mechanic for the entire trip as per the itinerary
  • Documentation for Tibet travel permit and a special permit for Everest Base Camp
  • Services of a knowledgeable Tibetan guide from Lhasa Agency
  • Permit for motorcycles to enter Tibet and the Everest Base Camp region in Tibet
  • All monastery entrance fees during sightseeing tours to Everest Base Camp and back from Dza Rongphu (as per the itinerary)

  • Support of a High Altitude Portable Chamber (Gamow bag) to be used in case of emergencies and oxygen canisters (Chinese make)

  • Nepal visa fees if applicable (recommend to obtain 30 day multiple entry visa of 40 USD per person which is easily available at the Tribhuvan International Airport - KTM)
  • Hotel accommodations in Kathmandu (4 nights stay in Kathmandu before and after the ride)
  • All meals in Kathmandu
  • Items of a personal nature such as bar bills, alcoholic beverages, bottled drinks and mineral water, etc.
  • Personal gratuities such as tips to road captain, mechanic, hotel staff, guides, drivers, and staff
  • Items not mentioned above
  • 2 major meals (lunch and dinner) throughout the entire trip as per the itinerary
  • Cost to hire an additional Landcruiser for backup will be extra 1970 USD for the entire trip
  • Supplement for Tibet visa for US nationals of 85 USD per person
  • Personal insurance and evacuation
  • Photography charges for stills and video cameras inside monasteries
  • Cost for any major damages to the bike due to rough handling or accidents
