Overnight in Tangkahan Eco Lodge Hotel near the big river. Please expect minimum comfort. Lunch and dinner are included in the fee.

Day 11: with elephants in the jungle

Another fun and unique day that only in these places it becomes possible. At Tangkahan, there is a small center of captive breeding of elephants in Sumatra and is headquartered by a group ranger that. Once or two times per week these rangers quell a disturbance of the wild elephants that are too close to the edge of the forest. Wild elephants which come out of the forest may cause conflicts between them and men.

Twice a day the animals are conducted to bathe in the river and then you can take a long hike in the back of the same through the rough paths of the forest. At lunch, you may go tubing in the river to reach a waterfall and enjoy a picnic lunch. Return to the same eco-lodge before night falls. Lunch and dinner included in the fee.
