Program

Day 1: Meeting in Rome

Today is the individual arrival of all participants in Rome, one of the most beautiful cities in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for the self-contained visit of which Italy on Motorbike recommends you to dedicate at least two days before or after the tour. You all meet up at your hotel in the afternoon. Around 17:30 - 18:00, you go and pick up the rental bikes (if any) and have a short but important briefing, the time to explain a few simple rules for organizing and synchronizing things, thus ensuring that everyone has a safe holiday. A typical Italian welcome aperitif will be the right occasion to get to know each other.

Day 2: Rome to Sperlonga or Gaeta, 240 kilometers / 149 miles

In the first part of your tour today, you will roam around Latium in the area of the Roman Castles (Castelli Romani) with the visit of Castel Gandolfo where the Pope’s summer residence overlooks the lake. Then, you will go on exploring southern Lazio where you will stop to admire the panorama in Rocca Massima and finally head westbound to the enchanting coast and reach the delightful little town of Sperlonga (or Gaeta) by the sea for the night.

Day 3: Sperlonga to Naples, 200 kilometers / 124 miles

Just a few kilometers and you step in the region of Campania, acknowledged as one of the most romantic places on earth with its pizza and mandolin dinners overlooking the wonderful sea. Using enthralling bikers' roads, you will explore a nice slice of the hinterland and stop to visit the awesome Reggia di Caserta (Royal Palace of Caserta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site) before heading for the coast to reach the extraordinary city of Naples for the night.

Day 4: Naples to Amalfi Coast, 160 kilometers / 99 miles

A “wow” day awaits with just a few kilometers and a slow pace to allow you to enjoy every single view on this outstanding route. You will start your ride climbing up the Vesuvius from where you will enjoy a spectacular overview on the whole Gulf of Naples and Pompeii, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before spinning down to visit this extraordinary archaeologic site. You then continue your tour heading for Sorrento and the amazing Amalfi Coast, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its breathtaking panoramas and spectacular luxury resorts where you will spend the night.

Day 5: Amalfi Coast to Sulmona, 330 kilometers / 205 miles

It is time for a change of scene as you make for Abruzzi. Leaving the sea behind, you ride along the Apennine Mountains ridge heading for the Maiella and Gran Sasso natural parks. You will have a whole day amid the green natural parks of Abruzzi, admiring wonderful pristine landscapes along fantastic twisting roads. Forests, charming stone burgs, lakes, and gorges are yours to see. Your today’s route ends in the elegant town of Sulmona, the world’s capital of sugared almonds.

Day 6: Sulmona to Anagni, 310 kilometers / 193 miles

You will spend a full day in the green spinning through the Abruzzi natural parks of Maiella and Gran Sasso, admiring awesome landscapes along thrilling twisting roads, as well as having pure fun and joy for riders and pillions. You will see a string of stunning, perfectly-preserved medieval villages and you could recognize the very places that were the setting for unforgettable film masterpieces set in the Middle Ages, such as 'Ladyhawke' and 'The Name of the Rose'.

After a self-cooked barbecue for lunch on top of the highest Apennine mount (you can choose to have the famous Abruzzi mutton kebabs for one), you will skirt the northern side of the Gran Sasso massif westbound and cross the Simburini Mountains to reach your final destination, the enchanting medieval Anagni, where you will spend the night.

Day 7: Anagni to Rome, 200 kilometers / 124 miles

Your way back to Rome will be enthralling, aren't they all? You can enjoy the beautiful itinerary along twisty and exhilarating bikers’ roads packed with amazing sceneries, gorges, and ancient towns. Two outstanding visits will contribute to the wonder of the day, which are an old monastery attached to the cliff and the magnificent Villa D’Este with its elegant gardens, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the late afternoon, you will be back in Rome where you drop off the rental bikes before gaining your hotel, which is the same as the first night. A lavish farewell dinner is a perfect conclusion for this great adventure together.

Day 8: Farewell in Rome

Italy on Motorbike says their goodbyes after breakfast, leaving you free to explore further the magic of the eternal city on your own. Italy on Motorbike is at your complete disposal to give you all indications and tips to enjoy your visit to Rome at best and help you planning your remaining days in Italy.
