Program

Legendary Rides has planned the schedule to get the most out of the five days tour in mainland Greece. Most, of course, does not refer to the amount of riding kilometers or miles per day but to experiencing the most in a day and always at a relaxed and pleasant pace.

Day 1: Athens

Today is your arrival day and and you will have a welcome dinner.

Day 2: Athens to Parga (450 kilometers / 280 miles / 6 hours)

  • Highlights: Rio - Antirio bridge

Yes indeed this your longest day of riding in any of the tours but don’t be alarmed. It is your first day and you are for sure loaded with energy! It is a very easy going ride since most of the time you will be riding on the newly constructed scenic coastal highway.

You will cross the impressive Corinth Isthmus canal to continue on the northern coastal highway of Peloponissos. Cross back to mainland Greece through the majestic suspended bridge of Rio - Antirio, the world’s longest multi-span cable-stayed bridge also featured in the Mega-Structures documentary of National Geographic.

From there you will ride for your lunch in Astakos then through the scenic Ionian coastal road where you will reach the lovely little port village of Parga.

Day 3: Parga to Papingo (180 kilometers / 111 miles / 4 hours)

Now you are leaving the coast and heading for a beautiful mountainous ride to reach the amazing Zagoria villages and their truly unique wild nature and scenery.

Your destination, the village of Papingo, the most beautiful of them all, is situated in an incredible location between the gorge of Vikos and the Tymfi mountain range, truly breathtaking.

Reaching your destination you will ride through an amazing set of 15 tight hairpins with a distance of an average of 100 meters between each one - challenging yet most fulfilling!

Day 4: Papingo to Kalambaka (175 kilometers / 108 miles / 4 hours)

Today you will ride to Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988. The original meaning of the word meteoros (μετέωρος) means in a limbo. The monasteries are perched in a limbo on these awe-inspiring rocks, millions of years old.

This is a unique site and experience. Words cannot really describe what you will see or feel. Leaving Papingo for Meteora, weather permitting, you might have a couple of route choices to reach your destination, all on scenic roads.

One of them and a favorite is through the straight of Katara (The Curse) after your lunch break in the mountain village of Metsovo, you will spend the evening in the shadows of these colossal rocks and their centuries old monasteries.

Day 5: Kalambaka to Pilion (275 kilometers / 170 miles / 5 hours and 30 minutes)

After your visit of the Meteora you will head for the east coast to reach mount Pilion and its stone built old picturesque village of Portaria. A beautiful scenic peripheral ride of mount Pillion awaits you. It is considered by many the most scenic mountain road in Greece.

Day 6: Portaria to Athens (375 kilometers / 220 miles / 6 hours or 380 kilometers / 235 miles / 7 hours and 30 minutes)

Your last day riding and you will hit the road back to Athens through the newly upgraded highway of the eastern coast of Greece. You will have the choice of two different return routes. One is shorter and on your way you will stop by the small remote fishing village of Mitzela for light lunch and maybe a swim before we reach Athens and get ready for our farewell dinner.

The longer route option will require an earlier rise and departure so to cross by ferry to island of Euboa and indulge yourselves in a nice mountain ride before you again cross through the Chalkida Bridge back to the mainland to reach Legendary rides in Athens.

Day 7: Athens

Today, you will depart from Athens and head home.
