A full day with Barcelona’s tourist attractions. Afternoon bike pickup at the BMW cooperation partner Hertz Ride / Touratech.

Day 3: Barcelona – Peniscola

Peñíscola is a coastal town in Eastern Spain. It’s known for beaches and its historic old town. The 13th-century Peñíscola Castle has panoramic views of the coast and Artillery Park, which is full of lavender and olive trees. Exhibits at the Museo de la Mar explore the town’s nautical history. South, Serra d’Irta Natural Park is home to Mediterranean woodlands and the Torre Badúm watchtower.

Day 4: Peniscola – Valencia

The port city of Valencia lies on Spain’s southeastern coast, where the Turia River meets the Mediterranean Sea. It’s known for its City of Arts and Sciences. Valencia also has several beaches, including some within nearby Albufera Park, a wetlands reserve with a lake and walking trails.

Day 5: Valencia – Murcia

Murcia is the seventh-largest Spanish city by population with approximately 440,000 inhabitants.

Murcia’s sights include a very tall belfry and its famous Cathedral. Murcia is also a large University town with more than 30,000 students per year. It has many parks and gardens.

Day 6: Murcia – Granada

Granada is a castle and a fortress, a royal palace and a town, amazing gardens and a summer retreat, the Alhambra is all of that and much more.

Day 7: Granada – Ronda  (2 nights in Ronda)

Ronda is a mountaintop city in Spain’s Malaga province that’s set dramatically above a deep gorge. This gorge (El Tajo) separates the city’s circa-15th-century new town from its old town, dating to Moorish rule. Puente Nuevo, a stone bridge spanning the gorge, has a lookout offering views. New town’s Plaza de Toros, a legendary 18th-century bullring, is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.

Day 8: Ronda – Gibraltar (80 miles / 129 kilometers)

Don't forget your passports you are entering British Territory. Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and headland, on Spain’s south coast. It’s dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, a 426m-high limestone ridge. First settled by the Moors in the Middle Ages and later ruled by Spain, the outpost was ceded to the British in 1713. Layers of fortifications include the remains of a 14th-century Moorish Castle and the 18th century Great Siege Tunnels, which were expanded in WWII.

Day 9: Ronda – Sevilla area

Seville is the capital of southern Spain’s Andalusia region. It’s famous for flamenco dancing. Major landmarks include the ornate Alcázar castle complex and the 18th-century Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza bullring. The Gothic Seville Cathedral is the site of Christopher Columbus’s tomb.

Day 10: Sevilla – Parador Almagro

You will stay in a typical Spanish Farmhouse (one of the most beautiful hotels in Spain), Castile-La Mancha, Spain. Meet Don Quixote, the man from La Mancha.

Day 11: Parador Almagro – Madrid

Madrid, Spain’s central capital, is a city of elegant boulevards and expansive, manicured parks such as the Buen Retiro. It’s renowned for its rich repositories of European art, including the Prado Museum’s works by Goya, Velázquez, and other Spanish masters. The heart of old Hapsburg Madrid is the portico-lined Plaza Mayor, and nearby is the baroque Royal Palace and Armory, displaying historic weaponry.
