Single room accommodation each with own shower-room, in our beautiful private villa with heated swimming pool and awesome sea views.

Program

Day 1

You either fly into Marrakech mid morning, or you're already there, but the plan is for the transfer minibus to have picked up everyone and left "The Red City" by 10:30 a.m. A reasonably fast two-hour transfer and you get your first sighting of the white fortified town of Essaouira.

The bus will deliver you to your beautiful private villa where you will get given your rooms, have time to freshen up and then meet up outside for a quick lunch on the covered terrace. Once you finished eating, you will be equipped with your biking gear, your bike is awaiting outside and it's time to "hit the beach"! Very different to riding the Sahara sand but just as exhilarating. See the seagulls fly.

Surprisingly it is quite a tiring biking around here - maybe the sea air. End up for aperitifs, wine or beer around the pool and discuss the next morning's route. Dinner will be on the terrace or indoors depending on the breeze and then just relax in the arty, laid back atmosphere of your villa.

Day 2

You will meet up at breakfast and then after having geared up, you will set off for a morning biking in a different area. Today will be primarily deeply rutted quad bike tracks twisting in and out of the many dunes.

Today the late lunch isn't included but if you fancy it you can ride to one of the popular small, garden restaurants by the beach and enjoy a lazy lunch. They offer kitesurfing classes and rental, so if you feel like having a go later then you can arrange this while here.

The quad trips and horse riding are very close by, so for anyone fancying these activities, you can organise with the boys. Having had a good lunch, you will return to your villa where the heated swimming pool awaits. Dinner will be served in the villa as usual. Note: You are welcome as a group to request or suggest specific dishes for your mealtimes.

Day 3

You will meet up at breakfast again and then start your final biking experience. Today is the most technical riding of the tour - demanding, stony, single-track trails winding around rocks and through Thuya and Argan forests. The Thuya bushes are worse than camel grass!!

If you prefer you can spend some of the time meandering through the undulating small dunes. Return back to the villa for a late lunch where there will be an arranged great barbecue to be eaten near the pool.

In the afternoon you can either spend more time by the pool or take a cab into Essaouira to wander, visit the old port where you can watch them building the big wooden trawlers by hand; visit the ramparts; wander through the narrow medina streets looking at the many bazaars selling all types of wares.

Dinner again will be back at the villa and this last evening discussing your thoughts about the last three days.

Day 4

Early breakfast for everyone as minibus return trip will be set with the earliest flight in mind. Great to have given you the possibility to make a short getaway and Moto Aventures hope you'll join on a longer tour next time.

Gears and bikes

Moto Aventures take great pride in all their bikes and vehicles. They have a fleet of 12 recent model KTM 450 EXCs based permanently down here for which we have a rigorous maintenance schedule.

Hussein is a highly experienced mechanic and he will ensure that your tour bike is delivered to you not only looking good but also in perfect working order, ensuring your safety and maximising your biking experience.

There are two factory-lowered KTM’s reducing the height of both bikes by two centimeters. All the bikes have a GPS with each days’ route installed. Needless to say it’s a beautiful looking little bike weighing in at just 113.5 kilos dry.

As all riders coming with you on one of the KTM off-road tours should have previous off-road experience, Moto Aventures assume you have your own clothing and gear. You have guaranteed comfort wearing your own.

Bike rental deposit

Moto Aventures requires a damages deposit of 700 EUR (can equivalent in USD or GBP) returnable deposit against bike damage and this is asked to be in cash please. Due to Moroccan taxes Moto Aventures have to ask you to bring cash because they get charged 22% on all transactions paid by international credit cards.

Safety

Your safety is an extremely important issue to Moto Aventures and one that they have spent a lot of time and money investigating, so as to enable them to offer you the best possible service.

Moto Aventures is unique in that they install, free of charge, a GPS on your bike during any of the tours. On all the tours off-road the support vehicle has a permanent satellite phone link, GPS, a comprehensive professional medical kit, including defibrillator, vacuum splints and even oxygen, a compressor and a fridge to mention the most important.

GPS

Moto Aventures use the robust Garmin Montana 600 with wide colour screens and 10,000 track points, and have one available for each bike with a track point every 25 meters giving peace of mind and security. All you have to do is keep the arrow on the magenta coloured line.

Each morning you will switch to that days track. This has made things more interesting for you, the riders, as you can run the tours reasonably freely, allowing the faster bikers to lead and several smaller groups to be operating at their own comfortable speed between them and the support vehicle which is always following not far behind.

Regular regrouping points are made. Having the GPS also allows riders to drop back and stay out of each others dust. Moto Aventures regularly update and check your Moroccan routes before the beginning of each season as Morocco is continually putting down asphalt somewhere, as well as searching out new tracks and trails so that repeat clients can experience new places, but they are getting progressively more scarce.

Satellite phones

There are two satellite phones as part of your safety measures. One of the satellite telephones is installed in the support vehicle - meaning a permanent connection is available should it be needed regardless of where you are. The other is carried by a biker within the group so that a connection can be made with the support vehicle any time mobile coverage is not available.

Support and back-up vehicles

When out on your KTM off-road tours, Hussein always travels in the support vehicle, which also carries the medical equipment - such as vacuum stretcher, defibrillator, splints and oxygen, a very extensive first aid box, a fridge, compressor, tools and spare parts, a permanent satellite phone link, as well as your baggage. There are two - a Toyota 79 and a Fiat Fullback both adapted to be able to carry a bike should it be necessary.

Location

With its shining lime-washed white walls the lovely old fortified coastal town of Essaouira has become known as one of Morocco's most enchanting places to visit. Take a pleasant stroll around the small port, where they still hand build great wooden trawlers, and the old town with its' ramparts – the outer walls typically European with bevelled battlements designed to protect against naval attack; the Islamic inner walls with square battlements - and the two sea bastions (Sqalas) one with its row of old Spanish cannons.

With its beautiful 7km beach just to the south it is kept pleasantly cool in the hotter months by all year-round trade winds. From April to September is when the winds can be at their strongest and as a result the town is becoming one of the top destinations for wind and kite surfing. So why not combine your biking experience with kitesurfing; quad bike hire to go driving through the dunes to Cap Sim, or if you enjoy horse riding then there’s nothing quite like a gallop along the beach.
