Day 1: Arrival

Arrival into Er Rachidia Airport in the early hours! You will take a 2.5 hour road transfer down to your local hotel at the base of the Cathedral dunes. Don't worry - not an early start in the morning.

Day 2: First attempt at conquering the Cathedral dunes

Your pleasant small, local inn is situated right below the Cathedral dunes - the highest in Morocco. Moto Aventures have just registered the highest at a new record - 203 meters! At about 10:00 after a late breakfast, it is time to ride the dunes. 26 square kilometers of dunes of all shapes and sizes. Avoid the camel grass or getting stuck in the bottom of the deep sandy bowls.

After you've tired yourselves out and conquered as many as you can, there's a very nice pool area for relaxing around, having a beer and waiting until lunch. You will wait for the sun to drop a bit and the sand to cool down before re-attacking the dunes. Dinner and a beer sitting on the terrace, while listening to the cicadas.

Day 3: Conquer the rest and on to the bivouac!

Breakfast will be at 8:00 a.m., and you will leave at 9:00 a.m. for some more dune riding during the morning. Back for a pleasant relaxed lunch and, you will then set off across the desert on beautiful twisting trails to your bivouac, about 100 kilometers away. Algeria is about 50 kilometers away as the crow flies.

Go on further smaller dune riding near the bivouac and a beer at “Johnnie’s Bar” on the top of the 80-meter dune while watching the sunset. After a plentiful dinner - chicken tajine and loads of great chips etc., listen to local tamtam players around the campfire.

Lie by the fire and gaze up at the star filled sky waiting to see comets or falling stars, and then sleep out under the stars. Plenty of sheets, blankets, mattresses, etc. are supplied as it gets cold out in the desert at night.

Day 4: Tonight in the old village of N'Kob

Have breakfast and then set off through more dunes and fesh fesh to your lunch spot - a small family run auberge set alone in an oasis in a pretty rock gorge. Frequently, large herds of groaning camels can be found here, as they are brought here to the only water source in this area of desert.

Then after lunch, it's faster hard terrain and dry lake-beds to your beautiful converted 200-year-old Kasbah (fortified castle) in N’Kob. From the roof, check out the view across the old village filled with many beautiful kasbahs in different states of repair. There is also a very nice pool to relax by. At night, you will have your dinner.

Day 5: On to Ouarzazarte

Leave after breakfast and head north to your final destination in the town of Ouarzazarte. Up and over the beautiful Jebel Saghro mountain range with it’s own spectacular “Monument Valley”. Fast twisting trails ascending passes and descending into valleys with small local communities dotted around.

You will end the tour at the base hotel. Dinner in the evening will be around the pool, if weather permitting.

Day 6: Departure - all finished!

Have breakfast and then departure from Ouarzazarte Airport or a minibus transfer to either to Marrakesh Airport or a riad if you are continuing with some extra days in the Red City.
