Program

This is a standard Manali-Leh Bike tour itinerary and can be modified on the request. Motorbike Expeditions have covered all the major aspects in this but if you feel like you want to add a place or two you can contact them.

Day 1: Delhi - Chandigarh - Manali (560 kilometers / 348 miles / 12 - 13 hours via bus)

On the first day of your trip, board a Volvo bus to Manali from Delhi / Chandigarh. It will be an overnight journey so make sure that you are well prepared

Day 2: Manali arrival

On the second day after reaching Manali, you tour guide will be there to receive you at the bus stand. After the warm and pleasant welcome you will go towards your hotel, where you can rest for a while and after that your tour guide will provide you the bikes.

This first day is all about connecting your soul to the bikes which you are going to ride for the next 10 days. Local sightseeing is the best way to understand the Himalayan terrain and the riding conditions so you will cover all the local destinations around Manali on this day. After that you will return back to your hotel, where you will have a dinner along with bonfire.

Day 3: Riding from Manali to Keylong / Jispa (166 kilometers / 103 miles / 5 - 6 hours)

On the third day you will start early in the morning from Manali. The journey from Manali to Keylong will be the most beautiful and opulent journey of your life. The snowcapped peaks, lush green deodar forests, and the huge snow walls of Rohtang Pass are something which will make your heart pound widely.

The ride from Manali to Rohtang is nice and decent its only after the Rohtang Pass one feels the real wrath of Himalayan roads. After traveling 35 kilometers from Rohtang you will stop at the place called Khoksar. This place is famous for the tribal dish meat chawal. After having the lunch you will head towards your stop for the night in Keylong through Tandi, Sissu.

Day 4: Keylong /Jispa to Sarchu (107 kilometers / 66 miles / 3 - 4 hours)

On the fourth day after having the traditional Lahauli breakfast you will leave for Sarchu. The road from Keylong to Jispa are in great condition but soon after Jispa real adventure begins. On the way to Sarchu from Jispa the roads are in terrible condition, one need to cross the world famous pagal nala at Zing zing bar

Your guides at Motorbike Expeditions will be 24/7 present with you in case of any help making your ride not only adventurous but also the safest. After crossing Zing-zing bar you will cross the world famous Baralacha-la Pass and if you are lucky we can even spot fresh snowfall at this pass.

After crossing Baralacha-la you will head towards your stay for the night at Sarchu. After reaching Sarchu one can take bath with hot water shower and soon after that food will be served.

Day 5: Riding to Leh (250 kilometers / 155 miles / 6 - 7 hours)

On the fifth day you will leave Sarchu and head towards Leh-Ladakh, the land of high passes. The journey to Leh from Sarchu will be through the world’s most dangerous and dreaded passes like Nakeela, Tanglang-La.

Many people ask what if one is not able to ride due to the dangerous terrains, so the answer to that is we at Motorbike Expedtions will have a backup vehicle 24/7 so that in case of emergency one can rest inside the car instead of riding. After few hours of ride you will finally reach Leh, where after reaching you will check in into the hotels.

Day 6: Leh local sightseeing

Leh city is one of the most beautiful cities in North India and is known for unique sightseeing places like Magnetic hill, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Shanti stupa, and Leh Palace. On the fifth day you will explore the above mentioned tourist places and give your body enough time to acclimatize to such high altitudes. During the evening hours you will explore the local market of Leh and buy some souvenirs for your dear and near ones.

Day 7: Leh - Pangong Lake

On the seventh day you will leave towards the world famous Pangong Lake in SUV or a traveler. This is the lake where the movie of Amir khan, 3 Idiots was shot. After exploring the place and click some great pictures for your Instagram and face book.

Day 8: Pangong Lake - Nubra Valley (160 kilometers / 99 miles / 5 - 6 hours)

On the eighth day you will head towards the famous Nubra Valley. Nubra Valley is located at a distance of 120 kilometers from Khardung-la and is famous for its double hump camel. After reaching Nubra you will check in into the hotel and then go for the world famous double hump camel ride and later explore the famous Diskit Monastery.

Day 9: Nubra Valley - Leh (160 kilometers / 99 miles / 5 - 6 hours)

On the ninth day after having the Ladakhi breakfast you will head back towards Leh from Nubra. Visiting Khardung-la Pass is an adventure in itself as it is the world’s highest motor able pass. One can spent 10 to 15 minutes here clicking pictures and can also have hot tea at army’s canteen.

Just imagine yourself sipping hot tea at world’s highest pass, such is a beauty of trip to Leh Ladakh. This ride will cover the Khardung la pass once again so the people who haven’t clicked the picture before can surely click this time. After reaching Leh you will have your dinner and can go for a short walk in Leh town.

Day 10: Leh

On the last and final day of this once in a lifetime adventure we will bid adieu to our fellow riders. At the breakfast we will cheer the moments of togetherness and bid fellow to each other with best wishes for life in the hope of meeting soon again. Overnight journey through the wide tarmac roads through the plains of Haryana & Punjab will lead you to the nation’s capital New Delhi. A photograph with the entire group for one last time on this epic journey. We have been conducting these tours for over last 2-3 years and our team of professionals have a very good experience. Bike rental deposit

Motorbike Expeditions require a security deposit of 10,000 INR (140 USD). As per the deposit policy, this is refundable at the end of the trip if there is no damage or spare parts used.

Akshay Thakur

Akshay Thakur is what people call a true mountain man. Being a native to the Himalayan region, he understands the place like nobody does. It was 2014 when his love for motorcycling fueled and he decided to travel solo across the rugged terrain of Himalayas, imparting people the message of Clean and Green Himalayas. Akshay’s passion for riding and love for motorcycles made him join the various motorcycle clubs. Currently, he is a member of 28 biking clubs in India and 5 outside the country. In 2018 he was recognized as one of the youngest active members to part of so many clubs.

Location

Journey begins early in the morning from Manali crossing the famous Rohatang-La, the connecting link between Kullu and Lahaul. The first glimpse of sunrise at Rohtang is never going to disappoint you. After crossing the Rohtang pass one enters the whole new world, where every thing seems to be perfect and unexploited.

Khoksar the tribal village is where one lands after an hour's journey, this place is famous for its authentic meat- chawal dish. Resting there for bit, rejuvenated riders drive through the country side roads of Lahaul and Spiti covering places like Tandi, Sissu and Keylong in order to reach their base for the night called Jispa. The roads till Jispa are really good it’s only after the Jispa, riders feel the real wrath of Himalayan roads.

The dreaded nalas submerging your bikes two to three feet inside the water and pillion riders helping you across is what Himalayan roads are all about. After crossing the famous Zing zing bar comes the hike for Baralacha-la pass, which is considered as one of the most dangerous pass on the way to Leh Ladakh.

If you are a lucky person and god is by your side then snowfall can also be the part of your journey across the Baralacha-la pass. After crossing the pass you will head towards your second-day base point called as Sarchu. This place is all about camping in the midst of arid grounds surrounded by huge Himalayas on the all four sides.

According to standard itinerary, the thirs day is considered as the last day in order to reach "The Land of the High Passes", Leh Ladakh. Journey from Sarchu leads through places like Pang, more plains and finally ends up in the famous town of Leh.

If you are thinking that journey ends up here then you are absolutely wrong because it’s after reaching Leh the real journey begins. As Leh is located at high altitude, first day is all about acclimatization in Leh and there after begins the journey to most beautiful places in Leh.

Next day bikers ride to the world’s highest motor-able pass called Khardungla and after clicking the picture in front of Khardung-la sign board riders head towards the famous Nubra valley. This valley is one of the most beautiful valley in Ladakh and is famous for the unique double hump camels in the region.

If you imagine its like green garden situated in the midst of desert and that what makes this valley so beautiful. Motorbike Expeditions set here the base for entire day so that you and your fellow travelers can enjoy every bit of nature. Lastly, you will ride towards the famous Pangong Lake and then to Tsomoriri.

A reservation requires a deposit of 25% of the total price.
The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
