Enjoy fantastic routes in one unforgettable moto-cultural journey with numerous tales and fables. With a size of about half of Switzerland, the Peloponnese is a four-fingered peninsular and the southernmost terrestrial region of Greece. The name in Greek means "The Island of King Pelops" who is considered by many to be the founder and creator of the Olympic Games. You will get to experience it all during this tour - sandy beaches, green fields, forests, and castles, all surrounded with deep historical significance!
You will be accommodated in elegant and spacious hotels or traditional high-quality guesthouses. All hotels and guesthouses are carefully selected based on comfort, cleanliness, and customer service.
In this tour, you will arrive at Olympia, the holy city that gave birth to the name of "the games". There, you will visit the historic stadium, where a wreath made from wild olive trees was the greatest honor to achieve through competition. Moving forward, you will stay in Monemvasia, also known as the "Gibraltar of Greece." Through bends, curves, and hairpins, you will ride up to the kingdom of Mystras, the pride of the Byzantine Empire. Diverse landscapes, dramatic scenery, and charming towns will then lead you to Sparta; the hometown of the great King Leonidas.
The Peloponnese, home to six of UNESCO's world heritage sites, will be your host. You will stay at the cosmopolitan Nafplion, where the sun sets behind the fortress island named "Bourtzi". Traveling through the forests of its largest mountain, you will reach the south coast and the supernatural sea-cave of Diros, which you will explore by boat. And, these unique cultural sites will continue as you move along to the magnificent ancient theater of Epidavros and then to the home of Agamemnon - chief commander of the Greek armed forces in the Trojan War.
MotoVoyager tours are tailored to motorcyclists of all levels. However, you must have a valid motorcycle driving license for at least two years. The selected routes are planned to follow low traffic roads and to offer a good deal of sightseeing. You do not need to be a highly experienced motorcyclist.
Based on experience, if you are not traveling with your own motorcycle, it is recommended that you book a 650-850 cc bike. It is more than enough for traveling in Greece and particularly agile. Of course, the final choice is yours. Please note that you will be given a briefing package outlining the trip details - i.e. safety tips, notes about attractions and sights, hotel information, and route features.
This motorcycle tour will take you to explore the Peloponnese in Greece, where you will visit several places starting from Athens, Acropolis, Sounion, Nafplio, Monemvasia, Areopolis, and back to Athens.
The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a high rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historic significance.
Olympia, a sanctuary of ancient Greece in Elis / Peloponnese, is known for having been the site of the Olympic Games in classical times - the most famous games in history.
Sparta or Lacedaemon, was a prominent city-state in ancient Greece, situated on the banks of the Eurotas River in Laconia, in south-eastern Peloponnese.
Mystras, the 'wonder of the Morea’, is a fortified town and a former municipality in Laconia, Peloponnese. Situated on the mountain of Taygetos, near ancient Sparta, it served as the capital of the Byzantine Despotate of the Morea, in the 14th and 15th centuries, experiencing a period of prosperity and cultural flowering.
Diros Cave is considered to be the first among the three most beautiful and impressive lake caves in the world (along with that of Padirac in South France and the Jeita Grotto in the capital of Lebanon, Beirut) because of its multicolored and wonderful decoration. It is an underground river and is formed of two main parallel runways with several secondary. It is situated in the south of Areopoli, in the Peloponnese. The bay of Diros with its white pebbles and crystal waters lies below the entrance of the cave. The length of the corridors of the cave that can be visited is 3,100 meters, of which the 300 meters are in the land. The tour of the marine area is by battery-powered boat.
Monemvasia is the best-preserved Byzantine city in the Peloponnese. The old town is located on a small peninsula off the east coast of the Peloponnese. The peninsula is linked to the mainland by a short causeway 200 meters in length. Its area consists mostly of a large plateau some 100m above sea level, up to300 m wide and 1km long, and is the site of a powerful medieval fortress. The town walls and many Byzantine churches remain from the medieval period. The town's name derives from two Greek words, ‘mone and emvasia’, meaning "single entrance”. Monemvasia's nickname is the ‘Gibraltar of the East’ or “The Rock”.
The Ancient Theatre of Epidauros is one of those ancient places that obtained universal fame and respect. The huge theatre is the one that delighted Pausanias for its symmetry and beauty and is used once again for dramatic performances.
During the tour, you will be served daily breakfast and two dinners including a glass of wine (welcome and farewell dinners). In Greece, European cuisine and Mediterranean flavors are customary. It is also possible to find vegetarian meals everywhere.
