Whenever you arrive in Mandalay, Myanmar Motorbike Tours' guide and driver will pick you up at the airport, bus station, or train station and take you to the hotel. You will have today to settle in and adjust to Myanmar time. You will have a dinner at a local Burmese restaurant where you can meet the other riders and go over the trip ahead. Overnight stay at the hotel in Mandalay.
In the morning, you will meet the motorcycles and you will be riding for the duration of the tour. The 250cc is the perfect motorcycle for touring Myanmar's varying terrain. The bike is light enough to put on a boat but powerful enough to make it up the highest mountain Myanmar has to offer. You will take a tour of Mandalay and the surrounding areas today and get used to the bikes and the local riding style. You will visit U Bein Bridge, Amarapura, and Sagaing, and have a sunset on Mandalay Hill before going to dinner. Overnight stay at the hotel in Mandalay.
After breakfast, you start riding from Mandalay to Pyin Oo Lwin. Offroad touring around the villages and continue the ride to Pyin Oo Lwin. You will go north zigzagging your way up the mountains and then arrive at the British hill station of Pyin Oo Lwin. You should have time to visit the picturesque National Kandawgyi Botanical Gardens before sunset. You will have dinner at an upscale European / Asian restaurant on the lake.
If you don't make it to the gardens the day before, you will see them in the morning. You will also have time to ride around the town to experience the old summer capital of colonial Burma. Then, you will work your way back down the Shan Plateau (back-road this time) and have a spectacular river crossing on a small wooden boat. You will pass another mountain range before finally heading up a narrow paved mountain road to the small Danu town of Ywangan. The sleepy village doesn't offer much for entertainment but the food is good, beds are clean, and the showers are hot. Overnight at the hotel in Ywangan.
After a simple breakfast at the Ywangan hotel, you'll head east to another mountain range on an unfinished road that will take you through some tea growing villages and cliff-side trails to a sealed road on the other side. You will then go to Pindaya where you will visit a famous Buddha filled cave where, legend has it, a Shan prince saved a group of captive maidens from a giant spider. On the ways along the road side, you can see panoramic plantation fields of cabbages, paddy fields. You will continue to make your way south through Shan, Danu, and Pa-O villages until you descent on Kalaw - British hill station at the colonial time. Relax at the hotel in Kalaw.
After breakfast, you will be downhill riding from Kalaw to Meiktila about 130 kilometers, then arrive at Meiktila. After that, you will continue the ride to Kyaukpadaung, a small town to drive up to Mount Popa. Lunch will be at the local restaurant on the way, then continue the ride to Mount Popa. Arrive at Mount Popa, check in the hotel, and relax at the resort. Overnight at the hotel in Mount Popa.
After breakfast, you will be downhill riding to Bagan through a country road. You will be witnessing local village life along the road side. In the afternoon, arrive at Bagan and relax at the hotel. In the evening, you will take a sunset boat ride along the Ayeyarwady River. Overnight at the hotel in Bagan.
After breakfast, you will be free driving around Bagan through pagoda and temples. You may begin your visit with a stop at the colorful Nyaung Oo Market where every day the locals come to buy and sell fresh produce and other goods. Continue to the golden stupa of Shwezigon Pagoda for an introduction into Bagan's rich history. Continue to Ananda Temple, an architectural masterpiece and one of Bagan's most beautiful temples. Built in the early Mon-style, Ananda contains two unique Buddha images whose expressions seem to change depending on the distance from which the statue is viewed. Overnight stay in Bagan.
After breakfast, you will cross many dry riverbeds and rocky hills on your way toward Mindat. You will cross the longest bridge over the Ayeyarwady River at Pakokku and ride through up hill to Mindat. In the evening, arrive at Mindat, check in the hotel, and relax. Overnight at the hotel in Mindat.
The hotel would have cut power before 22:00 so you will probably be up quite early in the morning. You will ride the bikes back down into the town and have a morning hike in the small Chin villages downhill from Kanpetlet. The local Chin hiking guide will help you communicate with the villagers and better understand their unique way of life. After the hike, you will go back up the mountain, past the hotel, and get into Nat Ma Taung National Park. Along the road between Mindat and Kanpetlet, you will make a detour to Mount Victoria (Nat Ma Taung). At over 3000 meters, Mount Victoria hosts a unique environment which contains many endemic flora and fauna. After Mount Victoria, you will continue on to Mindat on a winding single-track unsealed road. You will make it to Kanpelet by sunset for dinner and stay at a simple guesthouse for the night.
You'll leave Kanpelet and go south.The roads are mostly sealed but there will be some parts that are under construction that can add a bit of challenge to your ride. You will be traveling through plains and rolling hills all the way to the town of Ka Zun Ma before you go west through a protected forest to Saw on the Chin border. Evening arrival at Magway. Enjoy free time and relax at the hotel in Magway.
After breakfast, you will be driving a long distance to Mandalay. Riding distance will be around 320 kilometers. Lunch will be at the local restaurant. After lunch, continue the ride to Mandalay. In the evening, you will arrive at Mandalay and you will be dropped at your hotel in Mandalay.
