Day 1: Hanoi to Mai Chau (190 kilometers / 118 miles)

This short motorbike trip to Mai Chau will start by leaving from outskirts of Hanoi at around 8 a.m., avoiding the busy traffic by taking some narrow and small country road. You ride your motorcycles west to Mai Chau, an area of beautiful landscape and home to the Thai ethnic minority.

After lunch, you will ride your motorcycle on forgotten French road No 6, passing extensive farming lands comprising a sea of paddy fields split by tree-lined roads punctuated by limestone karst scenery. Here is known as Ha long Bay on mountain.

You will then cross Thung Khe, one of the most beautiful mountain passes in North Vietnam, then descent to the mountain valley settlement of Mai Chau, home to the white Thai people who are living in houses on stilts. Dinner and overnight in a Mai Chau Homestay.

Day 2: Mai Chau - Phu Yen (140 kilometers / 87 miles)

The motorcycle tour to Phu Yen is quite easy. It could have many stopovers for pictures of the amazing mountain view. You can start the day with an easy walk around the village or be lazy with waking up coffee.

After saying goodbye to the Thai people, you ride up to the direction of Moc Chau. Lunch is after the beautiful Hua Tat pass and then after lunch, turn to the less-traveled Road 43 that leads to the Da River.

After crossing the reservoir of Da river at Van Yen ferry, you ride on a beautiful winding secondary road until Phu Yen where you stay overnight. Dinner and stay in a Phu Yen hotel.

Day 3: Phu Yen - Than Uyen (210 kilometers / 130 miles)

You should start the ride earlier today because this north Vietnam motorbike tour to Than Uyen offers a lot of picturesque stops so the ride starts at 8 a.m. Right after the town, you will be on the winding and beautiful Lung Lo pass and then hit the quiet road to Tu Le, a charming little town where you have lunch.

The second half of the day is the highlight of the day. After 50 kilometers from where you have lunch, you will be in Mu Cang Chai in which you have a great chance to take pictures of the most beautiful terrace fields in northern Vietnam. Arrive in Than Uyen at about 5 p.m. Dinner and stay in a Than Uyen hotel.

Day 4: Than Uyen - Sapa (100 kilometers / 62 miles)

The motorcycle ride to Sa Pa should be the highlight of the trip. The first half of the day, you will enjoy an easy motorbike ride on the smooth road with beautiful tea fields and the colorful hill tribes along the way. And the other half, you ride on Qui Ho pass to cross Hoang Lien mountain range - the highest one in Vietnam including Fanxipan peak with the height of 3142 meters above sea level.

It’s sure that you will have pictures of the most beautiful valley in North Vietnam. You will be in Sa Pa at noon. After lunch in Sa Pa town, you will have a half day to discover the lovely town in the cloud, Sa Pa. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.

Day 5: Sapa - Luc Yen (180 kilometers / 112 miles)

This motorcycle ride from Sapa to Luc Yen is quite easy and enjoyable. You can start the day at 9 a.m., hit the 40-kilometer road down to Lao Cai where you can see China from Vietnam, and then keep riding on the beautiful and quiet big road No 70. And then make a turn to a small country road to Luc Yen, a nice village of the Tay people who live in stilted-houses between green palm trees. Dinner and stay with the Tay at a homestay.

Day 6: Luc Yen - Vu Linh (80 kilometers / 50 miles)

The road from Luc Yen to Vu Linh is quite flat. The short motorbike ride today should be the most enjoyable, after saying goodbye to the family, you will ride slowly on the small country road with the green mountain and rice paddy fields on two sides.

You can stop somewhere to visit several nice villages of the Dzao and Tay on the way. Lunch should be in Vu Linh, a village located on the bank of Thac Ba Lake, and then after lunch, you have the chance to see the biggest man-made lake in Vietnam. Myanmar Motorbike Tours is sure the lake will make you feel worthy to be there! Dinner and stay with the Dzao people at a homestay.
