Come and join this exciting guided enduro riding on Husqvarna TE250i all over the province of Chiriqui in Panama. This a circuit tour with approximately 80 to 100 kilometer of off-road riding every day with stays each night in a different hotel. This tour encompasses all types of riding - from the beach to the cloud forest.
During this tour, you will be accommodated in various hotels in double or single occupancy. Your hotels are as follows:
Hotel Ladera is located in Boquete, a small town north of the province of Chiriqui. Located on the slopes of Volcan Baru and near the La Amistad International Park. Boquete is ideal for those looking for a wonderful holiday with minimal impact on the environment instead.
Hotel Ladera presents a unique contemporary architecture that reflects comfort and relaxation. The design does not compete with the natural environment of Boquete, but it makes a contrast that highlights the best of the surrounding nature, while emphasizing modern comfort.
At the Hotel Horizontes, health, happiness, and a pure lifestyle are encompassed in every aspect of this property. The hotel integrates natural features, with luxury rooms to maximize the view and accentuate natural lighting.
The resort is dedicated to guests’ personal well-being with offerings of a first-class spa, beauty salon, exercise facilities, indoor and outdoor jacuzzi whirlpools and three swimming pools.
Eden Canyon Cabins provides all the comforts of the city in the countryside and they think of your comfort first and a pleasant rest.
Beauty, elegance, comfort, quality and good service is what you will find in Hotel Los Brezos. The rooms of the hotel are made with great attention to detail so the guest will find heaping their demands.
The rooms have cable TV with over 60 channels. They are equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fan, USB connections, blower, bathrobes, alarm clock, minibar, coffee Nescafá, and safe.
Hotel Las Olas is a tropical paradise, on nine miles (18 kilometers) long La Barqueta Beach, on the Pacific coast of Panamá. Perfect for families, each (recently remodeled) room has an oceanfront balcony or terrace from which you can walk out to sparkling volcanic sand and secluded beach or view spectacular sunrises and sunsets.
You will be picked up at Enrique Malek Airport in David and transfered to Hotel Ladera in Boquete. You will have an orientation to the town of Boquete and introduction, setup of controls, and suspension to the Husqvarna TE250i enduro motorbikes at Panama Enduro Tours headquarters.
At 8:30 a.m., you will have a tour introduction and safety briefing before you head out for a day of riding. You will ride from the area of Volcancito to Lucero through country lanes with coffee plantations either side.
Once you get to Lucero, you will be riding down a gravel trail that leads to the sleepy town of Caldera. Crossing the Caldera River, you will pass by the hot springs and ride a flowing easy trail to the town of Paja Sombrero.
From Paja Sombrero, you will head up the Caldera Valley to a height of 1,337 meters with fantastic views down the valley. The riding in this stretch of trail is fast double track along the side of the valley and it comes to an end at the Fortuna Dam which is the half way point between Chiriqiui and Bocas del Toro.
You will stop here for a rest beside a waterfall and eat some fresh fruit and some chicken empanadas to fuel you up for the next leg of your adventure. You will cross over the dam and work your way down the other side of the valley arriving back in the town of Caldera for lunch time.
Lunch is at a favorite local restaurant which serves some excellent local food. After lunch, you will cross over the Caldera River again and ride down the trail to the hot springs “La Abuela”. Bring your swim suits so you can take a well-earned dip in the therapeutic waters.
After the hot springs, you will ride on the upper Caldera circuit which is a fun double track with a short technical rocky section to arrive at the Hotel Horizontes in Chiriquicito where you will spend the night.
Your day starts at 9:00 a.m. with a double track ridge-line ride to the beginning of a farm. You will drop down through this farm using single track cow trails which will lead you down to reservoir Barrigon.
A fast run alongside the reservoir on a gravel track brings you out into the sleepy town of Gualaca famous for its mini canyon “Cangilones”. You will have a typical Panamanian lunch here next to the horse rodeo and after lunch you will ride down to Cangilones to jump into the canyon to cool down.
After your swim, you will have a choice of either riding a single track technical climb back up to the town of Caldera or a faster flowing trail. Once you are back in Caldera, you have a short ride on the road to your destination for the night which is Eden Canyon which overlooks the Caldera canyon.
Your day once again starts at 9:00 a.m. with a short five-minute ride down the road to bring you to some double track trails interspersed with some short technical pieces which leads to the town of Dolega on the highway to Boquete.
You will cross the highway and head up on some easy trails up to the area of Potrerillos famous for its Orange groves. The trail for the next few hours is fast flowing but it has some tricky sections thrown in to break things up especially a nasty loose hill climb named after Panama Enduro Tours owner.
Riding through a coffee farm and through some cloud forest, you eventually come out onto a farm track for a faster run to your lunch spot. Stopping for lunch in the tiny town of El Paraiso, you will continue on towards the town of Volcan riding through a cattle farm and some rural tracks to bring you to town.
If there is still some time left, you can ride up to an area called the bus and the jeep high up in the cloud forest for those that still have energy left. You will stay for the night at Hotel Los Brezos in the farming town of Volcan.
You will leave at 9:00 a.m. with a quick run on the road leading down to David where you will reach the trail head at a place called Cuesta de Piedra. Here you have two options depending on the ability of the group.
The easy way is fast gravel track all the way down to Bugaba. The other has a bunch of technical single track trails and a tough river crossing with some double track in between for a breather. Once you get down to Bugaba, you will ride alongside the river down to Alanje.
This section is pure river rocks everywhere but you do have a couple of exit points on to some rural roads if it gets too much. From Alanje down to the ocean, you have some sandy fast trails through sugar cane fields. Stay the night at Barqueta Beach in Hotel las Olas.
With an early start you will head off along fast sandy trails from the beach through small villages and then across a boulder strewn river and then through sugar cane fields. Right before David, you will come to a canyon that the river destroyed the bridge so the only way across is to lower the bikes down the canyon side by ropes!
Refuel in David, then you will reach the trails of San Antonio and El Valle which are super fun fast tracks leading up to Gualaca. Crossing the wide river at Gualaca you take the technical single track up to Caldera and then further single track up to the famous Nino Grande Hill which seems to be never ending!
Arriving at Jaramillo, pass through some more single-track connections that drop down to Boquete. Refueling in Boquete, you will then ride through a coffee plantation to arrive at the foot of the volcano. Only 30 more minutes and you will be at the top of the volcano - the highest part of Panama.
It is important to keep your momentum up on this last stretch as there is a lot of loose rock in sections. Finally, you reach the top at 3,474 meters. Mission completed!
Once you are back at Panama Enduro Tours headquarters, you will be transported down to Hotel Ladera.
You will be transported down to Enrique Malek Airport in David.
