Day 1: Chaing Mai to Chiang Dao, 150 kilometers / 93 miles

You will be picked up in Chiang Mai city center and transferred to Phrao Outdoor Adventure office. Along dirt roads, you ride to Mae Kuang Dam and to Bua Thong Waterfalls. From there, you follow the paved road to Phrao for 35 kilometers.

As you arrive in the Phrao valley, you continue your ride on dirt roads and small trails across the hills and countless orchards. Your lunch will be in a typical local restaurant in the town. After some sightseeing in Phrao valley, you continue your tour along the road 1150 and a secondary road to Chiang Dao where you stay for the night.

Day 2: Chiang Dao to Pai, 130 kilometers / 80.5 miles

In the morning, you visit the Chiang Dao cave. The next destination is Muang Khong in a lush green valley in the Huai Nam Dang National Park. The road along the majestic Doi Luang mountain is windy and covered with plenty of potholes. After lunch, you ride 30 kilometers of dirt track to the village of Wiang Haeng, close to the Burmese border. For your last 60 kilometers to Pai, you ride on a sandy dirt road across a mountain range where you pass some hidden hill-tribe villages.

Day 3: Pai to Doi Miang viewpoint, 60 kilometers / 37 miles

You spend the day with sightseeing around Pai, having a trip to Doi Miang viewpoint on 1700 MSL, and relaxing at a cool waterfall.

Day 4: Pai to Chiang Mai, 180 kilometers / 112 miles

After a ride on the windy mountain road 1095 for 25 kilometers, you arrive in Huai Nam Dang National Park and visit the stunning viewpoint on 1700 MSL before you reach the dirt track that brings you back to the valley of Muang Khong.

After lunch, you head south towards Mae Taeng following an amazing route across the mountains that ends at the so-called Elephant Valley. From here, you ride along paved roads to Mae Ngat Somboon Chon Dam and back to Chiang Mai.

Mr. Hermann also known as Lung Chang, is the founder and General Manager of PHRAO OUTDOOR ADVENTURE Co.,Ltd. The big (not tall) Bavarian origin is living in Chiang Mai and Phrao since 2009. He started his career as tour operator and guide for motorcycle tours in 1996, leading tours in Austria, Northern Italy, Slovenia and Croatia for HIT and different motorbike magazines. Mr. Samart Chaiboon is shareholder in our company, local guide and co-instructor for enduro tours. He is smart and a very friendly guy, who likes to get our customers in touch with his culture. Samart is able to speak English in guiding the tours.

Tour information

Phrao Outdoor Adventure can also organize day trips on request. Non-riding companions can ride in a car, with an English-speaking driver, and meet the bikes at the main stops. You will also get to spend 1.5 - 2 hours at a great waterfall and have lunch there.
