Day 1: From Negombo to Anuradhapura, 106 miles / 170.8 kilometers

Anuradhapura has been made royal capital by the king Pandukabhaya in 380 BC. It remained residence and royal capital for 119 successive Singhalese kings till the year 1000 AD when it was abandoned and the capital moved to Polonnaruwa.

Day 2: From Anuradhapura to Mahiyangana, 103 miles / 165 kilometers

Mahiyanganaya is a town situated close to the Mahaweli River in Badulla District, Uva Province of Sri Lanka.

Day 3: From Mahiyangana to Kandy, 47 miles / 76 kilometers

Kandy is a large city in central Sri Lanka. It's set on a plateau surrounded by mountains, which are home to tea plantations and biodiverse rainforest. The city's heart is scenic Kandy Lake (Bogambara Lake), popular for strolling. It's famed for its sacred Buddhist sites, including the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) shrine, and for its Esala Perahera annual procession.

Day 4: From Kandy to Nuwara Eliya, 47 miles / 76 kilometers

Nuwara Eliya is a city in the hill country of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. Its name means "city on the plain" or "city of light".

Day 5: From Nuwara Eliya to Ella, 91 miles / 147 kilometers

Only eight kilometers from Bandarawela, this small town is used as a base for plenty of trekking expeditions to the surrounding countryside. A taste of the breathtaking scenery of Ella could be had, if you just walk into the Garden of the Grand Ella Motel (Formerly Ella rest house).

Day 6: From Ella to Arugam Bay, 89 miles / 140.1 kilometers

Arugam Bay is a bay situated on the Indian Ocean in the dry zone of Sri Lanka's southeast coast. The bay is located 320 kilometers due east of Colombo, and approximately 4 kilometers south of the market town of Pottuvil.

Day 7: From Arugam Bay to Kataragama, 89 miles / 136.5 kilometers

Kataragama is a pilgrimage town sacred to Buddhist, Hindu and indigenous Vedda people of Sri Lanka. People from South India also go there to worship.

Day 8: From Kataragama to Tissamaharama, 11 miles / 16 kilometers

Tissamaharama is a town in Hambantota District, Southern Province, Sri Lanka.

Day 9: From Tissamaharama to Yala National Park Distance, 19 miles / 31 kilometers

Yala National Park is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka. The park consists of five blocks, two of which are now open to the public, and also adjoining parks.

Day 10 - 11: Mirissa

Mirissa is a small town on the south coast of Sri Lanka, located in the Matara District of the Southern Province. It is approximately 240 kilometers south of Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 4 meters above the sea level.

Day 12: Mirissa to Bopath Falls, 109 miles / 170.1 kilometers

The name "Bopath Ella" has been given to the waterfall because of its shape. The water flows through a narrow gap in the rocks and then widens, forming the shape of a leaf of a "Bo" tree which is the Sinhalese name for sacred fig (Ficus religiosa). "Path" means leaves of a tree and "Ella" means waterfall. Virgin forests with a rich biodiversity surround the waterfall. Bopath Ella is 30 meters (98 feet) high. It is formed from the Kuru Ganga, which is a tributary of the Kalu Ganga.

Day 13: Kitulgala (Bopath Falls) to Sripada (Adam's Peak), 108 miles / 170 kilometers

Sripada is a 2,243-meter tall conical mountain located in central Sri Lanka. It is well known for the Sri Pada, i.e., "sacred footprint", a 1.8-meter rock formation near the summit, which is Buddhist.

Day 14: From Adam's Peak to Negombo, 99 miles / 160 kilometers
