With an interesting story behind his peculiar nickname that he loves to narrate when asked, Rahul Chauhan a.k.a Mat is very well-known and respected among the Indian biking fraternity. A doctor by education and a traveler at heart, live life as simple village boy. Rahul has been riding through the length and breadth of India since the late 90’s. His knowledge and experience of traveling in India and Asia is unparalleled. He’s also a bit of a grease monkey and loves getting his hands dirty, modifying and restoring old bikes and cars occasionally.
Hooked up with Planet Way Round on a recommendation from a Nepalese friend. We flew in from Perth, Western Australia to Delhi and onto Manali where the boys picked us up for our 3 week tour. We were given 2 x 500 cc Royal Enfield Bullets and couldn’t have asked for a better bike for the trip. The trip had it all, Worlds most dangerous roads, Worlds highest roads, Mind blowing scenery at every turn. Good roads/ Bad roads / No roads / river crossings/ goats,cows,donkeys... sometimes I thought I was on the Moon! The bikes broke down but our Mechanic Davo was all over it ( he could fix anything) The boys knew the best route to take to get us acclimatised by the time we got up to Ley, Ladakh. If you are considering a bike adventure in India these are the guys to speak to. We were 2 brothers who didn’t want to get caught up in a big group pulling in too many directions, so we sent Mat a rough itinerary and he tailored the trip to suit our needs. They are super passionate about what they do and they seem to know everyone in North India! Your health and well being are a big priority ( I found this out on my last day when I hit a donkey, came off the bike and broke a rib, The boys got me straight to the hospital for an X-ray and a few hours of oxygen until I was sorted out) Nothing was too much trouble for these guys and they understand you are coming from sea level and need to be slowly taken up the mountain. Many thanks to Mat, Ricky, Manu and Davo for giving us an unforgettable experience, would love to get down to Sri Lanka with you boys one day. Regards Mark Edmonds. Perth, Western Australia

When we stared planning trip to Kinnuar and Spiti, We had very vague idea of what we can do. We did not have first hand information about these places. Planet way around & team is expert in this area and set us up to a really memorable trip. We have few things in our list that we were hoping to have in this trip - road trip with self drive, A few places to camp, Some small treks and stay away from common town & cities. Rahul and his team from Planet way around planned as per our needs. Right from recommending which car to take, places where can camp (planned backup options incase we find it hard in the cold to camp), places where we can trek, everything suggested was perfect. The itinerary including remote village for night stay but the options to stay were great with great hospitality in home stays. It was planned in such a way that we could do everything we had in mind. Natural beauty of Kinnaur and Spiti is just perfect but our trip would not have been this awesome without the help from Planet way around. Thanks Rahul, Cherry & Team!!
The big man behind this beautifully managed and organized company called Ladakh way around.. is Mr. Rahul Chauhan. This was my second bike trip with them and I feel extremely privileged and happy to share my experience in this review. Rahul is a very simple and sorted guy, who exactly knows what needs to be done when and at the same time smart enough to give you everything that you ask for... He is one man army in this rough and rigorous region of Himalayas. I believe his many many years of experience outcast his knowledge gives you a trust that you are in safe hands... He took utmost care of me this time and patiently resolved all my bike issues making sure that journey continues... Everything in the trip was very well organized which made the entire journey smooth and enjoyable. It's hard for me to believe that I will choose any other option apart from planet way around for my further bike trips... Thank you, Rahul, for being there...
A memory for a life time and a story of how a 'bunch of strangers' became a 'bunch of best- friends' by the end of the trip. Spiti valley is known for its extreme and unpredictable weather conditions, in spite of that our journey was very comfortable. Everything was very well planned and organized by Planet Way Round.Thank you, Rahul (MAT) for your guidance through out. It was next to impossible for us to drive in such extreme snow without you being in the lead, which gave us immense confidence. I would like to plan my next trip with Planet Way Round for sure.
Travelling through breathtaking [literally ;-)] Ladakh was an amazing experience, one I'll for sure remember for years to come. Majestic mountains, unbelievable scenery, beautiful mountain passes and overall an unforgettable adventure. Mat, as our guide, went above and beyond to provide us with the best possible experience. I can only reaffirm what other reviewers already said - the trip was professionally organized and handled but at the same time delivered a lot of fun and challenges. Mat, I'm sure that we will meet again on one of your trips :-).
