Day 1: Cape Town to Hermanus (140 kilometers / 87 miles)

You start the day with a coffee at the RETZA Café, receiving your motorbike for the tour. The ride begins as a leisurely trip along the beautiful coastline, passing the seaside towns Strand and Gordons Bay, before riding along the winding coastal road Clearance Drive towards Rooi Els with magnificent views of the ocean to your right, and the stunning Hottentots Hollands mountains to your left.

You will reach Hermanus in the afternoon, where you will have time to take a walk around the picturesque town. Hermanus is famous for whale watching. Explore the waterfront, have a glass of wine while watching for these magnificent beasts, or head down to chill on the beach. If you like the thrill of adventure, you can book a shark cage diving trip for the next morning in Gaansbai before heading to Franschhoek.

Day 2: Hermanus to Franschhoek (110 kilometers / 68 miles)

The second day’s ride starts with a ride back via the Hemel en Aarde Pass and towards the Cape’s largest dam, Theewaterskloof. From here, you will take a turn to join the breath-taking Franschhoek pass, weaving your way down to Franschhoek, the base of the French Huguenots settlement in South Africa, and the heart of wine country. Take a relaxing stroll to explore the beautiful town of Franschhoek, visit the wineries and sample the tasty wines. You can also explore the French museum and other historical sights before ending the day with a French-inspired dinner.

Day 3: Franschhoek to Cape Town (140 kilometers / 87 miles)

Today, you make your way back to Cape Town. You will ride along the wine route via the Helshoogte Road and the Durbanville Hills towards Melkbosstrand, the western coast of Cape Town. Riding along the beautiful and famous Blouberg Strand with the best views of the table mountain, you will end the day at our RETZA base in Woodstock.

OPTIONAL (150 kilometers / 93 miles): If you are up for a longer but beautiful ride, you can leave early in the morning to make your way via Stellenbosch down to Muizenberg and to ride along the beautiful Cape Peninsula, passing the navy towns Fish Hoek and Nord Hoek, to cross over the peninsula to ride along the famous Chapmans Peak back into Cape Town city.

To ride a motorcycle in South Africa, you should have all the necessary travel documents and bike drivers license which is valid in South Africa. This tour takes place in South Africa. Starting from Cape Town, you will head for Hermanus, Franschhoek, then back to Cape Town.

The meeting point is RETZA Café. The address is 9 Factory Road, Woodstock, Cape Town 7925. It is just a 5-10 minute drive away from the city center. The quickest is to take an UBER (it's safe!) which should cost you around 50 ZAR from the city center.
