This 10-day motorcycle tour covers the most scenic highway in the world, the 475 kilometers long Manali-Leh highway. So if you're one of the riders who favor some good old adventure in an open nature, this trip is definitely for you. This tour is designed in a way that you get properly acclimatized to the high altitude conditions of the region so you don't have to worry about anything. What are you waiting for? Book the tour and ride through the beauty of India!
You will stay at various hotels and tents provided by Ride of My Life on twin-sharing basis.
You will arrive in Manali on 12:00. After checking you in into a hotel, the road captain (guide) will brief you on the route and day-wise plan. You will also meet your co-riders. This day is basically reserved for you to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude ahead.
This day, you will learn to get the hang of riding a Royal Enfield on the varied terrain of the Himalayas and be ready for the ride of your life. If you need any adjustments to be done, the mechanic will take care of it once you return to the hotel.
You will wake up early in the morning to ride on the world's highest road, the Manali-Leh highway. As soon as you leave Manali, the climb for the 13.051 feet high Rohtang Pass will start. After Rohtang, the road will take you to the Chandra valley, passing through Khoksar and on to Tandi and Keylong. Your night stay will be at a hotel in Keylong.
You will ride through the lush green landscape to the stark moonscape which Ladakh is famous for. A very scenic ride will pass through small lakes, waterfalls, and streams. You will also cross your second high altitude pass which is Baralach La at 16.500 feet. Your night stay for the night is in Swiss tents with attached toilets at Sarchu.
Undoubtedly the best stretch on the Manali-Leh highway, this section of the Manali-Leh highway will feel as if you're on a roller coaster ride climbing up and down from one Himalayan pass to another. You will ride up and down 3 high altitude passes, Lachlung La, Nakee La, and Taglang La. You will finish your ride in the ancient city of Leh.
On this day, you will take a breather from the grueling ride you have had from Manali. You will be free to explore various parts of the Leh city, like the Namgyal Palace, Tibetan market, Shanti Stupa, and various monasteries.
You will ride through the third highest motorable pass in the world, the Chang La pass at 17.586 feet. After the descent from Chang La, the magical plains of Changthang will be waiting for you. But the real treat is the 135 kilometers long Pangong Tso Lake. You will stay on the banks of the beautiful Pangong Tso for the night.
You will ride on one of the remotest routes of Ladakh made especially for the Indian Army, which connects Pangong lake to Nubra Valley bypassing Leh. This route was washed away in a cloudburst in 2010. Parts of it are still not rebuilt. With various stream crossings, riding on dry riverbeds, smooth tarmac, and switchbacks, it truly is a religious experience for an adventure ride.
You will take the road to the highest motorable pass in the world, Khardung La, at 18.380 feet. In spite of the altitude, you will ride on some of the smoothest roads so far and the landscape will also become grand. After a steep and tough ascend and celebrations at Khardung La pass, you will descend back towards Leh.
Unfortunately, your trip will end on this day. You'll bid farewell to the Himalayas and your riding buddies to head home after a ride of a lifetime.
