Come and take a motorbike tour from Sapa! Drive on several small roads penetrate deep into steep, terraced valleys and climb high above ferocious rivers, swollen with cold mountain water, to remote minority villages, where a handful of home stays offer basic accommodation for a night, on a scale not found any where else in Vietnam.
You will stay one night at the Y Ty Village during this tour. Your accommodation is homestay in a typical house of Ha Nhi minority.
Your guide will pick up you at 8:00 a.m. at the reception of the hotel for a short briefing. Then start your journey from the hotel by motorbike and head through Sapa Town for the main Sapa - Lai Chau road.
The scenery is beautiful. You will stop at Silver Waterfall (best in rainy season) and take a short walk to middle of the Silver Waterfall. After crossing the waterfall and heading back down the steps, you will head back to your transport and continue the journey to the pass.
From the summit, there are stunning views of the valley on the other side of the pass and you can observe the road snaking around the mountains towards Binh Lu Village and Lai Chau beyond. You will spend enough time at the pass for guests to take photos and admire the views.
After taking some beautiful photos of the Tram Ton Pass, you will turn back to O Quy Ho Town then turn left on road DT 155. Drive through Ban Khoang, a village of the Red Zao ethnic peoples who live their unique way of life and well maintain their traditional values.
The village looks prosperous thanks to the combination of wet rice cultivation on the terraced fields with cardamom farming under the shade of trees in thick forest. Arrive in Ta Giang Phinh Village at lunch time and you will enjoy your lunch with a local family.
After lunch, you will get on the bike and drive to Muong Hum Village where the Black H’mong, Day, Ha Nhi people are living. After visiting Muong Hum and taking a short rest here you will continue to Y Ty.
Along the way you will see the rice terraces are higher, steeper, more dramatic, and less crowded. Pass though the jungle (Bat Xat National Park) and you will arrive at Y Ty in late afternoon. Stay overnight in Y Ty.
After your breakfast, you will start your tour at 8:00 a m. Get on the bike and start drive motorbike on the A Lu Mountain pass. The scenery on the way is fabulous the endless layers of rice terraces overwhelmed you with their glorious curving lines.
When you are 10 kilometers (6 miles) away from Y Ty, cool air fills your lungs and trees shade your way. A stopover is a perfect you meet more local people. Now you know that you will make it to Y Ty for sure and this is just the first step of a wonderful adventure, good things waiting in front of you and the only thing you have to do is to keep going.
Driving along the border line between Vietnam and China Red River is the boundary dividing Vietnam and China. Both sides are visible to each other so you could clearly see a high-way running through forests of the China side and sometimes big red mandarin characters on the mountains.
The road will be getting more and more remote, nothing on your way but sunshine, rocks, big rocks, mountain walls, trees, grasses on a side, and cliffs on another. On the far horizon, green mountain after a green mountain with clouds under a blazing sky made a whole panoramic scene
At 12:30 p.m., arrive at Trinh Tuong village at lunch time. You will stop here and have lunch in one of the local restaurant. After lunch, you will get on the bike and continue riding 40 kilometers (25 miles) to Lao Cai City.
Arrive in Lao Cai City where you turn to the road 4D and drive back to Sapa. Arrive in Sapa in the late afternoon. This is the end of the trip.
SAPA MOTORBIKE TOURS requires a bike rental deposit which costs 30% of the total cost of the tour.
North of Sapa, the dramatic mountainous landscape which you can see (on a good day) from your Sapa hotel window, continues all the way to the Chinese border. Several small roads penetrate deep into steep, terraced valleys and climb high above ferocious rivers, swollen with cold mountain water, to remote minority villages.
Creating a scenic loop, starting and ending in Sapa via the hilltop hamlet of Y Ty, this short, easily-navigable road trip is a great escape from the increasingly grim and touristy mountain town of Sapa
Bathed in a warm, sharp highland light, shimmering over the ripe rice terraces like a halo, or covered in a cold.
You will be served one breakfast, two lunches, and one dinner during this tour. Meals will be local Vietnamese food and drinks are not included.
Try to time your visit to catch the Saturday market. There are lots of local food outlets around the main square. Busiest between 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Y Ty market receives hundreds of minority women dressed in their various colorful clothing.
They make the journey by foot - sometimes starting before dawn - to the market in order to buy (not sell) supplies for the week ahead. Unlike Sapa Market, where minority people are more likely to be seen selling to foreign and Vietnamese tourists, Y Ty market is the real deal.
This means there’s no hassling to buy trinkets and garments; most of what’s for sale is fresh meat, vegetables, fruit, and practical equipment for use in the villages.
