Posada Real Mingaseda, Navafría

This is a mountain village house, renovated in rustic style. Their 14 magnificent bedrooms are decorated with love. They have their own restaurant, gardens, and comfortable living rooms. A friendly Spanish family from the village run this hotel.

La Era de la Tía Donata, Campillo de Ranas

La Era de la Tía Donata is a traditional building in an isolated village of extraordinary beauty. They only offer six double rooms with all the comforts and decorated to a high standard with a lot of attention to detail. They have their own restaurant. The very friendly owners speak English well.

Posada de San Millán, Sepúlveda

Situated in the old historic center of Sepúlveda, Posada de San Millán is a protected building and one of the oldest buildings in town, with a 12th century Romanesque front and 15th century inner courtyard. It consists of eight original and is carefully decorated bedrooms around the courtyard and a garden offering wonderful views. The owners speak English well.


Day 1: Arrival and circular tour to Pedraza (40 kilometers / 25 miles)

Arrival at the mountain village of Navafría. You will be given complete instruction and training until you feel ready to go on your way. Your journey starts here, with a visit to the medieval town of Pedraza before returning to your hotel.

Day 2: Navafría - Campillo de Ranas (100 kilometers / 63 miles)

After packing your travel bag provided with all the essentials for the next couple of days, you climb a breathtaking mountain pass through a vast pine forest, descend into the Lozoya Valley amongst oak and beech woodland and follow increasingly quiet country roads towards the Sierra del Rincón. You end the day's journey in the Tejera Negra, an isolated mountainous area famous for its black slate villages.

Day 3: Campillo de Ranas - Sepúlveda (105 kilometers / 66 miles)

This day's scenery is the best yet. You will be climbing the Sierra de Ayllón and down towards the medieval town of Riaza, built around a bull ring and clock tower, with storks nesting on top, then pushing on to Villacorta, one of the region's famous pueblos rojos (red villages). From here, you loop west across the cereal and sunflower plains of Castilla to the winding cobbled streets of Sepúlveda, a 3,000-year old hilltop town with Arabic architecture.

Day 4: Tour around Sepúlveda and then back to Navafría (70 kilometers / 44 miles)

Your last day is spent exploring the staggeringly beautiful Duratón Canyon Nature Reserve before returning to Navafría where the trip started.

Recommended time of year

You are recommended to travel anytime from May to September. The summer months in this area is ideal to ride a scooter since it does not get too hot and the air when riding is just perfect.

What is required to hire the vehicle?

  • Driver’s license: motorbike license (A) not CBT or ordinary car driving license (B), for more than three years.

Who can drive the scooter?

  • Under Spanish law, any person with three years of experience with an ordinary driving license (B) is authorized to drive motorcycles up to 125cc
  • In all instances, you must be over 21 years old and if you do not have a motorbike license you must have at least three years experience with an ordinary drivers license
  • The process of handing over of the scooter is done with explaining how the vehicle works, but it cannot be considered a training process. Scooter Tour Spain cannot take responsibility over the ability of the driver to handle the vehicle
  • Drivers are recommended to have some experience driving a 125cc scooter or a motorbike before coming on holiday to ensure that they are confident and capable

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD). Scooter Tour Spain provides transfers from and to Madrid for 150 EUR per vehicle each way.

Arrival by train

From Madrid, catch an AVE (high speed train) to Segovia (12.20 EUR, takes 30 minutes). From here, Scooter Tour Spain will take you by private transfer to Navafría (takes 35 minutes). At the end of this tour, Scooter Tour Spain will also transfer you from Navafría to Segovia to take the train back to Madrid.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 25% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
