There, you will be prepared for expected, and the unexpected – the roadmap, riding etiquette, pitfalls, & heavenly views with cold weather conditions followed by a welcome dinner. Now, you are mentally prepared. Go Baba! Have a good night.
Don’t let your sleepiness make you late unless you want to stuck in traffic while riding alone on the narrow and serpentine road to Keylong. Ask an experienced rider & you will know; 120 Km trip is not short if it includes hilly roads and Rohtang pass. Even the `bum ache` You will turn speechless by sceneries and breathless physically when you reach Keylong. Fill up courage in your heart and fuel in the tank; you are going to need these a lot.
As you leave for the zero-fuelling station path, you might want to recheck the fuel level and high-altitude medication. If you are a rider by heart, you will enjoy riding on this ironic patch – toughest yet most beautiful. Please make your mind for this appealing death road as the thought of taking a U-turn might strike any moment, Apart from enjoying the scenery, drive safely through the freezing – cold water crossings and keep an eye on falling mountain rocks.
`Baam!` The Himalayas can catch you by surprise at any unexpected moment, Your shoulders and back would be so damn tired, your executive class body wouldn`t mind sleeping at Banjaara style stays – cramped beds in a common tent. You can cook your own food outside with your trembling hands. You better be ready to dance when a fellow rider sings in the evening meet up.
`Come on Buddy! I know this place is awesome, but what`s coming next is better` says a fellow rider. You start riding away and close towards Jhon Carters Mars at the same time. You will stop at Morey Plains, the most picturesque road stretch. One loses the sense of time riding on the endless road surrounded by Himalayan mountains. Later, you will ride to Tanglang La top (17480ft). The mercury dips at a faster pace than your altitude gain. You will make a stop at the top and take riding along the subsidiary river of the Indus river. Although you wish to take multiple stops for photos, you can `t because you just learned the lesson at Tanglang La & understand the `Cold-hearted welcome` at Leh if you reach in the evening.
`Yes! I reached` says your heart by looking at `welcome to Leh` board.
Just like you, after riding on such rugged terrains, the motorbike needs rest & a thorough check-up. So, leave the motorbike at the hotel for maintenance. I can sense Oxygen. I am free to wander around. For today, please use the local commute modes – public transport or rent a car. Feed and set free the lone wolf within to explore various parts of the Leh city and numerous monasteries. Go around the market & taste authentic Ladakhi food with salted tea made of Yak milk. Come back to hotel for dinner in the evening.
The day starts with a mix of excitement and nervousness for riders as well as Bollywood enthusiast. You will head towards the next big thing. En route Pangong, you ride on earthen and gravel roads to mighty Chang La (17,580ft). From the op, you may catch the glimpse of Khang Yisay top of Hemis National Park. Eventually, it reminds you of how small are you on earth. You will forget the count of the numerous small water streams on the road, which keeps flooding your mud wrapped bike before you finally reach the lake. Do not stop at every other point to take photos, unless you wish to miss the sunset view at Pangong Lake.
It may not be the best place you stayed in past, but remember the fact of how less of these were produced or manufactured in Ladakh. Probably, each amenity that you enjoy has travelled a thousand km to serve you. So, praise the hardship your host & enjoy an evening soul-searching walk on the beautiful blue lake bank.
Today, you will be riding on an incredibly moody road with a wide variety of terrains, changing every few kilometres. The road to Nubra will confuse you whether to look on the road or the beautiful view of oasis in the high-altitude desert. I hope you never get confused. You face hilly curves at the beginning, accompanied by the roar of Shyok. Look at the mountains across the river on your right side, that would be Karakoram mountain ranges. Sandstorm and rolling stones are very usual, just like water crossing. Who knew crossing a dry river could also be so painful says your touché while crossing Shyok River. Once you reach the campsite, enjoy the evening with bonfire, & music – a perfect way to nourish your vitals and soul at the Himalayas, Isn`t it?
It is the day when you will explore an untouched destination. Today, the group is headed towards the northernmost village in India – Turtuk, the only Baltic Town in India; once a part of Pakistan until 1972. Take it as an opportunity to explore the culture and traditions of Baltic people. Don't forget to take a snap with the mighty K2. You have to turn into a writer to narrate the beauty of Gate to Siachen in words. Soon after the group head to the last Indo Pak border town- Thang which is just 3 km from actual line of control. You have to be there to understand rider`s feeling of the farthest village of India. You will return to the Nubra Valley in the evening and Visit the dunes famous for its humped Bactrian camel.

Even though the roads are broken, muddy, and narrow, there is still a road to the highest motorable road for a civilian. While you ride for the hilltop, you understand the toil it takes to build and maintain a road at this altitude; the respect for BRO reaches a new height. Your eyes glitter by looking BRO`s board of highest motorable road, the feeling is so difficult to express. `Mission accomplished` You along with many other overly enthusiastic riders run for the customary photograph with the board. After the joyous celebration, the group will drive downhill for Kilometers, feels scary while looking at endless downhill roads.
The grand road welcomes you back to Leh.
Get your accelerator wire rechecked. You may snap the throttle wire while pushing too hard on the best highway of the trip so far. You also come across the Magnetic Hill. You will make another stop at the moon land of Ladakh. Being the most beautiful stretch, you can`t help yourself taking photos and videos. Slowly you descend towards the Kargil city.
After being mesmerized by the sunrise and good breakfast, the group gear up to leave for Sonamarg. Almost 40 percent of the salt lake lies in the Indian territory, and the rest lies in China. The 134-kilometer-long lake is situated at 14,270 feet altitude and covers 604 square kilometers. Sunrise is as stunning and mesmerizing as sunset at the lake.
