Accommodation

All of the hotels are hand-picked with the aim to provide a mix of quality and heritage accommodation for you.

Program

Day 1

Fly into Chennai. Stay at a beach resort in Mamallapuram. The beach town’s magnificent, World Heritage-listed temples and carvings inflame the imagination, especially at sunset. The buzzing, growing surf scene is another attraction.

Day 2

Ride 100 kilometers south on the iconic East Coast Road (ECR) to reach Pondicherry. In this former French colony, ‘lifestyle’ shops sell a seductive vision of the French-subcontinental aesthetic while the famous Sri Aurobindo Ashram draws large numbers of spiritually minded visitors.

Day 3

Ride 230 kilometers and climb a world-record 70 hairpin bends to reach Kolli Hills. The loud long-stroke-thump of a Royal Enfield thundering up the vertigo-inducing climb up this hill with seventy hair-pin bends. Need we say more!! Pure grin factor.

Day 4

A long 290-kilometer ride sees you reaching the Periyar Tiger Reserve. This wildlife sanctuary offers the unique opportunity to watch and photograph wild elephants from close quarters. In Periyar, one can enjoy cruise rides on the lake as well as animal observations.

Day 5

A short ride of 100 kilometers to reach the tea-estates on the hills of Munnar. The rolling hills around Munnar, South India's largest tea-growing region, are carpeted in emerald-green tea plantations, contoured, clipped, and sculpted like ornamental hedges.

Day 6

You ride 250 kilometers and halt for a night in enchanting Ooty. 'Queen of Hill Stations' mixes Indian bustle and Hindu temples with beautiful gardens and charming Raj-era bungalows. The journey on the celebrated miniature train is romantic and the scenery stunning.

Day 7

A beautiful 150-kilometer ride, first through Bandipore Tiger Sanctuary and then Wayanad Elephant Reserve. Wayanad’s landscape combines mountain scenery, rice paddies of ludicrous green, skinny betel nut trees, bamboo, red earth, spiky ginger fields, slender eucalyptuses, and rubber, cardamom, and coffee plantations.

Day 8

A 200 kilometers' ride sees you reaching the coffee and pepper plantations of the misty Coorg. At an altitude of 1525 meters in the Western Ghats, misty hills, lush forests, tea and coffee plantations, orange groves, undulating streets, and breathtaking views make Coorg an unforgettable destination.

Day 9

Having started the journey from the east coast of the South Indian peninsula, on day 9 you ride another 250 kilometers, and reach the west coast. You reach Udupi, a sleepy coastal town sandwiched between the verdant mountains of the western ghats on the east and the vast, tranquil Arabian Sea on the west.

Day 10

A ride of 200 kilometers sees you traveling back inland through the Western Ghats to reach the mighty and mesmerizing Jog Falls. Jog Falls is unique as the water does not stream down the rocks in a tiered fashion; it thunders down the slope losing contact with the rocks, making it the tallest un-tiered waterfall in India.

Day 11

You cross the Western Ghats again and drive 220 kilometers to reach your final destination, to relax in the sun and sand in the intoxicating and heady beach state of Goa. One of India's top tourist spots, Goa is a vibrant fusion of Indian and Portuguese cultures and a heady concoction of sea, sand, and sun.

Day 12 and 13

You ride around the verdant and tranquil Goa and ride up to Vagator beach to attend the Royal Enfield Goa Rider Mania, which is the largest gathering of Royal Enfield riders in the world every year. Custom bike shows, competitions, music, food, sun, and sand all come together in perfect harmony.

Day 14

Fly back home safely after a fulfilling adventure.

Location

The iconic Eastern Coastal Road from Mamallapuram and Pondicherry, vertigo-inducing 70 hairpin bends on the way up to Kolli Hills, national highway passing through Bandipur Tiger Reserve, mist-covered roads through the coffee and pepper plantations in Coorg. From scenic laid-back coastal roads through lush-green rice fields to remote ferry crossings, South India’s roads are a rider’s paradise.

Terrain

South India is a peninsula in the shape of a vast inverted triangle, bounded on the west by the Arabian Sea, on the east by the Bay of Bengal, and on the north by the Vindhya and Satpura ranges. The Western Ghats, along the western coast, mark another boundary of the plateau.

The Western Ghats continue south and terminate at the Nilgiri mountains which run in a crescent encompassing the Palakkad and Wayanad hills, extending on to the relatively low-lying hills of the Eastern Ghats. The Tirupati and Anaimalai hills form part of this range. No major elevations border the plateau to the east, and it slopes gently from the Western Ghats to the eastern coast.
