This exciting motorbike tour will see you riding across Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania. You will go for wildlife game rides in Uganda, relax on the shores of the Nile and Lake Kivu, and go Gorilla tracking in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You will be supported by an experienced guide and ride through some spectacular sites while enjoying the natural beauty of East Africa!
During this tour, you will stay in a comfortable single rooms at various accommodations, usually three-star hotels and B&Bs.
The roads open up beautifully as you leave Nairobi and ride alongside the Great Rift Valley escarpment, through the bustling town of Nakuru and onto the agricultural metropolis of Eldoret.
You cross the first border into the strikingly green landscapes of Uganda. Jinja, the overnight stop, has a reputation as the adventure capital of Uganda. Riding day ends with a cold beer gazing at the sunset over the majestic Nile
Relax by the River Nile, explore the small town of Jinja, or indulge in any number of activities, including white water rafting, quad biking, and horse riding.
The manicured highlands of Fort Portal are some of Uganda’s most picturesque, and riding through them provides many serene moments.
Your first sojourn into QENP courtesy of the Crater Drive, which lies between Fort Portal and our overnight stop in the park. Crater Drive is famous for its multiple viewpoints of crater lakes in QENP
You will head out on a ‘game drive’ on your bike and see countless buffalo, zebra, and antelopes. There’s also a good chance of coming across elephants. The afternoon ferry ride on the calm Kazinga channel offers more wildlife viewing, including hippos, riverine birds, and elephants.
Today’s ride takes you from the plains of QENP to the terraced hills of Kabale and Lake Bunyonyi.
Mountain Gorillas are an endangered species, and can currently only be found in Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Spend a rewarding day tracking them in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Alternatively, relax by the beautiful shores of Lake Bunyonyi or explore its myriad islands on a canoe.
Today you will cross the second border into Rwanda. The terraced landscape of Kabale continues through Kisoro and into Rubavu, where you will stop for the night; on the shores of Lake Kivu. Today’s short ride allows you to explore Rubavu and Lake Kivu in the afternoon.
The hilly roads of western Rwanda give way to the flat, but well populated, expanses of eastern Rwanda. After a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, you will make your way to the smaller town of Rwamagana.
You are crossing the third border into Tanzania. Today is the longest riding day on the tour. Most of the riding is on a tarmac, but on long roads with not much to see in between towns
The huge rock formations as you approach Singida and the site of Lake Singida are a welcome break from the long roads.
The landscape as you leave Singida towards Babati is interspersed with some great riding sections, great curves dipping into and out of valleys. You will arrive at Arusha, a major tourist hub, close to the Kenyan border.
You will ride across desolate plains towards our final border crossing into Kenya. You will then make your way through small satellite towns before being reunited with Nairobi traffic. You will get home in time for a toast to the end of the East Africa Raid.
