Accommodation

You will be accommodated on a twin or triple sharing bases in standard hotels / tents / camps with neat and tidy rooms and western washrooms. All tent accommodation will be in Swiss camps with attached western washrooms. Accommodation starts from day two at Chandigarh until night halt at Pathankot / Chandigarh.

Itinerary

Orientation day

Day one is a very important day as the group gets the briefing on the entire tour. The riders are introduced to each other and are open to asking any of the queries to the tour leader. Do’s and don’ts are not to missed by anyone as the tour which you have chosen is not a visit to a hill station. It’s Leh and it’s different.

Day 1: New Delhi to Chandigarh, 238 kilometers / 148 miles

  • Riding time: 5 hours

The mechanic will give a brief introduction about the Royal Enfield bike followed by a brief orientation given by the tour leader for those who were not there on the previous day. The tour takes off to Chandigarh crossing the beautiful fields on either side of NH1. Breakfast halt will be on a roadside dhaba and that will be the first feel of the countryside.

Evening is free so if, one wishes can ride to the Stone Garden or can have a nice long rest to start fresh early next morning. You will stay at Chandigarh hotel.

Day 2: Chandigarh to Manali, 340 kilometers / 211 miles

  • Riding time: 7 to 8 hours
  • Altitude: 2000 meters above sea level

Early morning, you start the ride to Manali. Adventure ride starts from the road to Manali. You will see the huge Pando Dam on the way and will stop for a quick photo shoot. From Kullu onwards, the road runs almost parallel to Beas River. Manali is the most visited hill station of India. Evening walk and dinner will be at the hotel. If reached on time, bikes will be checked.

Day 3: Manali to Jispa, 120 kilometers / 75 miles

  • Riding time: 4 to 5 hours
  • Altitude: 3,080 meters above sea level

Today you have to cross the Rohtang La with altitude 3,878 meters above sea level. This route will make you feel the heights of snow white covered Rohtang La and then the green field of Kelong Valley. This day is also important for the bikes and the bikers as they will cross the first pass of this route, Rohtang La, one of the worst but the most lovable pass of the riders. You will stay at Jispa.

Day 4: Jispa to Sarchu, 110 kilometers / 68 miles

  • Riding time: 2 to 3 hours
  • Altitude: 4,000 meters above sea level / 13,850 feet above sea level

The tour starts very early in the morning. One crosses Baralacha La which is 4,830 meters above sea level. The green fields of Keylong and Jispa are also a treat to the eyes. This ride and this night stay is the most crucial stay of the entire tour. The reason is that this night halt is at a place of the highest altitude in the tour where you have to stay at night. Riders must follow the health and the safety instructions of the tour leader. You will stay at Sarchu in tents.

Day 5: Sarchu to Leh, 230 kilometers / 143 miles

  • Riding time: 8 to 9 hours
  • Altitude: 3,500 meter above sea level / 11,500 feet above sea level

Sarchu is the last town of Himachal Pradesh and after this, you enter the state of Jammu and Kashmir. This road is having many passes. The road is rough so the riders have to be very cautious. You will cross Nakeela Pass which is 15,547 feet and Lachulungla Pass which is 16,616 feet.

Then comes the great Gyanchuthang Plains. This plain land with a straight road in the center is approximately 50 kilometers long. It leads to Thanglang La which has altitude of 17,582 meters. It’s the world’s second highest road. On the way, you will cross Upshi, Rumptse Village and Upshi Village. From Upshi, Indus River will flow along the road. This river is originated from Kailash Mansarovar.

You have entered the area of Indus valley civilization. One can see the barley field in these villages as it’s the main crop here. If you are lucky enough then far away from the main road you can see the nomads of Leh-Ladakh with their flocks of sheep, famous for pashmina wool. If on time then you can visit Thiskey Monastry which is on the way to Leh. You will stay at Leh hotel / tents.

Day 6: Free day at Leh - bike checkup day.

If health-wise one is feeling okay, then you can visit Shanti Stupa, Thiskey Monastry, Shey Palace and go to the famous Tibet market. This day is free for shopping. If you are interested Tony Bike Centre can arrange local cabs for you for river rafting in Indus River (extra charges). Take rest for the adventure ride of the next day.

Day 7: Leh to Pangong Tso, 164 kilometers / 102 miles

  • Riding time: 4 to 5 hours
  • Altitude: 15,000 feet

On the way to Pangong Lake comes the Chang La pass which has altitude of 17,658 meters. It’s the third highest motorable pass of the world.

Tangste is the place from where The Karakoram Range of mountains start and the river Shayok flows along it. This area is exposed to direct ultraviolet sun rays. Then comes the Pangong Lake, the highest natural salt lake in Asia which is a real treat for your eyes. Its first look will make you speechless. It’s 160 kilometers long and has a turquoise color. One-third part of the lake is in India and the rest is in China.

You will stay in the tent accommodation along the lakeside at Spangmik Village in Pangong Tso. The color combination of this crystal clear lake with the surrounding mountains will pamper your eyes.

Day 8: Pangong Tso to Leh

On the way back to Leh, you will visit the famous three idiot school, The Lotus Valley School and you can have lunch there. Take proper rest as next day is the majestic ride to Khardung La. You will stay at Leh.

Day 9: Leh - Kahardung La - Nubra, 125 kilometers / 78 miles

  • Riding time: 3 hours
  • Altitude: 18,380 feet / 5,620 meters

Today you will ride the highest motorable road in the world. It’s the most exciting and the most challenging path of the tour. This route is the Old Silk Route which leads to China. This route also leads to Saichen Glacier. To ride on this road and to reach the pass is the main target of this 13 days long tour.

You can take as many photos as you can with the historical board behind you saying ‘you are at the highest motorable road in the world’. Crossing Khardung La, you will enter the Nubra Valley. It’s a green valley with peach trees all over and sand dunes with double humped Siberian camels. You will stay at Nurba.

Day 10: Nubra to Leh, 220 kilometers / 137 miles

  • Riding time: 3 to 4 hours

Day 11: Leh to Kargil, 220 kilometers / 137 miles

  • Riding time: 4 to 5 hours

Today you will catch NH1 to reach Kargil. The initial road from Leh towards Kargil is excellent but as you proceed it comes back to its original rough form. You will stop at the Pathar Sahib Gurudwara to have ‘Prasad’ of tea and sweets. This Gurudwara is built and maintained by Indian Army. Alchi Monastery and Lamayaru Monastries are on the way. On the way, you will cross Fotula Pass which is 13,470 feet and Namkila Pass which is 12,198 feet.

You will visit Mulbek Village at Chamba having the first-century statue of Lord Buddha of Khushan Period engraved on a mountain. This village is the last village having the Hindu or Buddhist population after this area the entire population is Islamic. When you will cross these areas you will see and experience the change over from one culture to another.

Day 12: Kargil to Srinagar, 208 kilometers / 129 miles

  • Riding time: 4 to 5 hours

Your first halt on this route will be the War Museum made in the memory of our brave Jawans who gave their life in Kargil war of 1999. You will pay your homage to them and will fill yourselves with pride to be in a country which has such brave people.

On the way to Srinagar, you will cross Drass, one of the second coldest inhabitant place of the world. Then comes the narrowest Zozila Pass which is 11,953 feet. To cross this patience and concentration is required or you can say that you will have to apply all your riding experience here. Crossing it, you will proceed towards Sonmarg and will start seeing the lush green mountains of Paradise on earth, Kashmir. After travelling through the dry mountains of Ladakh, seeing these green mountains will be a real relief to your eyes. You will stay at Srinagar hotel / houseboat.

Day 13: Srinagar to Pathankot, 350 kilometers / 217 miles

  • Riding time: 7 to 8 hours

In Vai Anantnag you will cross the 2,531 meters Long Jawahar Tunnel. If you are lucky enough, you will try to take some ‘Prasad’ from the langar pandals set up for the yataris of Amarnath. You will be moving on NH44 and will again come back to NH1 to proceed towards Pathankot.

Reaching Pathankot will make everyone go into the deep thoughts of asking yourself that have you really done this most adventurous and daring trip to Leh. You will stay in Pathankot hotel.

Day 14: Pathankot to Delhi, 473 kilometers / 294 miles

  • Riding time: 8 to 9 hours

You will be on NH1 now but you are sure that you will be missing those bumpy and challenging roads. Most of the times riders ask Tony Bike Centre that now this highway is like this only, when will some good roads come. ‘Good’ here means those roads of Leh-Ladakh. These lines show that you are a complete rider now.

Note

  • The group has to follow the tour manager to make the tour a success.
  • Bikes have to be changed in Leh for four days local sightseeing. Tony Bike Centre can book a bike for the rider for which the rider has to inform at the time of tour booking or if you wish, you can book a bike in Leh on your own from the bike rental market on the free day which Tony Bike Centre give in Leh.

Location

This tour will start and end in Delhi. Along the way, you will visit Chandigarh, Manali, Kelong / Jispa, Sarchu, Leh, Pangong, Leh, Khardung La, Nubra, Leh, Kargil, Srinagar, and Jammu / Pathankot.

Srinagar is a tensed area. If there is any disturbance or if, Tony Bike Centre comes to know that anytime anything can go wrong then even if, the situations seem to be normal at that particular time, Tony Bike Centre will not take any risk and will not go via Srinagar.

Safety is a priority for Tony Bike Centre so if it is felt that something can go wrong then any life risks will not be taken and will come back via Manali route.

Food

Meals will be on MAP plan (breakfast and dinner) at eating joints on the way and may not be in major towns where people prefer to have platters according to their personal tastes, from breakfast on day two until day 14.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.

  • You are advised to arrive 1 day before the tour starts.​
  • This tour requires a minimum of eight riders.
  • The tour can be canceled if the riders are less than eight in number, per group.
  • Tony Bike Centre can book your accommodation on day 1 for you in a hotel where all the riders stay and where have the orientation.
  • For the continuity or discontinuity of the tour or any decision which has to be taken for the safety of the group, the decision of the tour leader will be full and final.
  • For any accidents, thefts or illness Tony Bike Centre shall not be held responsible.
  • In case of any accident or illness, all the medical charges or travel and transporting charges will be borne by the rider himself.
  • It’s a package tour so, in case of any natural calamity, human-made calamity, accidents, illness or any personal circumstances if, the rider starts or ends the tour at any place then the tour money will not be refunded.
  • The program schedule / route / mode of transport might be changed due to unforeseen circumstances or for the safety of the group, the decision of the program director and / or the field director will be final and binding in this regard.
  • In case any participant falls sick during the tour, the expenses for medical treatment, travel and porter charges etc. will be borne by the concerned individual.
  • During the tour, the decision of the program director and / or the field director will be final and binding.
  • Tony Bike Centre shall not be held responsible for any accident, illness, and loss of valuables or such other unforeseen events during the tour.
