The accommodation is a mix of a high standard beach house and rustic bush and lodge establishments. Each rider will always have their own private room.

Program

Trail boss enduro knows you will be travel weary on arrival and they want you to be fresh and strong for the riding leg of the tour, so, they whisk you off to a beautiful game lodge in the African bush to experience the big five in Hluhluwe, South Africa's oldest game reserve. After resting up and getting face to face with Africas biggest game, you travel down the beautiful coastline to their local base and riding area in Southbroom, an Indian Ocean paradise.

You will then have four days of riding in Trail boss enduro's amazing terrain which has flowing single track, river crossings, rock gardens, and forest trails. The first day will be a shakedown ride to see where your skills are and then you head out into the mountains and gorges for a three-day tribal land enduro. You return home where you can relax for a day on a pristine beach and regale your adventure over an ice cold beer and traditional barbecue. When you fly home the next day or continue on with your travels, you will take with you in your heart a magical piece of Africa.

Itinerary

This is Trail boss enduro's ideal schedule for this tour package but is subject to minor changes and variations depending on circumstances. When booking your flight, make sure your arrival at King Shaka International Airport (DUR) is before midday and your departure from the airport after the tour is after midday.

Day 1

Trail boss enduro will pick you up at the King Shaka International Airport (DUR) and transfer you north to the famous Hluhluwe–Imfolozi Park area and you check into Trail boss enduro's bush lodge by late afternoon. If you are feeling up for it, a night game drive is available or you can just have a magnificent dinner and sit around the crackling campfire with a cold beer.

Day 2

Since you had a long journey to get here, you might want to sleep in and then wake up to a leisurely breakfast and just enjoy the rest of the morning relaxing in the beautiful bush lodge atmosphere. If you are feeling strong and up early, you can go in search of some big game in the open safari truck. Have lunch at the lodge or in the bush and then choose from various activities in the afternoon or catch up on some more rest. Have dinner around the campfire and tell stories about your big game experiences.

Day 3

Today is similar to day two with choices of game drives, game walks, boat cruises, or just taking it easy at the lodge and enjoying seeing the wildlife from the view deck. You should be well rested by now and ready to ride.

Day 4

You transfer down the coast stopping for lunch and to pick up anything from the bike shops that you might need regarding the kit. You arrive in Southbroom early afternoon in time for a swim in the ocean and to get settled into the beach house. You get to meet your bikes and get all your gear ready for the morning.

Day 5

Today is a shakedown ride, so, after a good breakfast, you head out from the house on the bikes and go and play in the hills. You can get a feel for your bike and Trail boss enduro can make any adjustments to suit you. It also gives Trail boss enduro a chance to see your real skill level so that they can adjust the trail route if necessary for the following three days. Back to the beach for a late lunch and a swim, or just a cold beer in the sun. Dinner at a local seafood restaurant ends the day off nicely.

Day 6

Today, you head into the mountains covering many types of terrain and taking on some fun challenges. You arrive in the afternoon at the Oribi Gorge and check into the chalets. Enjoy a good dinner at the reserved restaurant overlooking the lake and the sunset.

Day 7

Today, you ride down into Oribi Gorge on some of the most spectacular single track on the planet. Amongst the cliffs and the canyons, the trails winding through the indigenous bush and you can challenge yourself to some hard climbs if you like. You head back to the chalets for lunch or dinner depending on how long you want to ride. In the afternoon, you can have fun on the crazy five kilometers zip line or race some downhill scooters on the sled path into the gorge.

Day 8

After a hearty breakfast, you ride back to the coast via the ridges and valleys of the tribal lands seeing on the way how the traditional Zulu people live life. You arrive back In Southbroom in the afternoon and have dinner at one of the local restaurants.

Day 9

Today, Trail boss enduro sorts out all your gear while you can participate in various local activities - just hang out at the beach or go to the town. This day is just a relaxing day with a traditional goodbye barbecue in the evening.

Day 10

Trail boss enduro transfers you back to the airport or your various points depending on your travel plans.

Bike rental

Trail Boss Enduro rents a variety of bikes depending on availability. Late model KTM and Husqvarna 300 two strokes and 250 / 350 four strokes are available.

Note

All the tours and trails are adjustable to soft, hard, and extreme enduro but you must at least have a good grounding in trail riding including up and down hills, rocky sections, and river crossings.

Rider experience

Riders must be able to ride single track mountain trails with steep descents and climbs and some rocky sections. Trail Boss Enduro does give free rider training during the tour and help riders through tough sections if necessary. No motorcycle license is required to ride with Trail Boss Enduro but an indemnity form must be signed.

Jason Livingstone
Jason has been riding, guiding, and coaching in this area for many years and has an encyclopedic knowledge of the trails and routes. He has worked all over the world as a safari guide, yacht charter captain, and enduro coach. He has raced events like the roof of Africa and the Impi hard enduro and is always happy to give tips and teach techniques out on the trail. His biggest passion is riding hard enduro and sharing his knowledge and experiences with his guests.

Location

The tour will be held in the province of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, which is well known for its exceptional riding terrain which has produced world-class riders like Wade Young who is currently dominating the enduro circuit. KwaZulu Natal is also known for its stunning beaches, Drakensberg mountains, and exceptional wildlife.

Food

Trail boss enduro will serve you three main meals per day. You will be dining at various lodges and restaurants that offer a variety of international and local cuisines. Food in South Africa is generally of a very high quality with a focus on good whole foods.

Trail boss enduro is well known for their local tradition of "braai" which means barbecue which usually includes a variety of steak, lamb, chicken, and sausage accompanied by a variety of bread, salads, and vegetable dishes. The Traill boss enduro chef might even make an appearance. Enjoy evening night sounds with great food and traditional barbecue (braai).
