Program
Day 1, Saturday, July 23: Arrival
Arrive at Reykjavík Airport, transfer to the hotel in the city, and verification that your motorcycles have arrived safely and last-minute adjustments. Walk through the capital of the country and then have dinner in a group and go to bed to rest, 12 days of authentic Icelandic adventure trail await you!
Day 2, Sunday, July 24: Reykjavík - Snaefellsjökull - Grundarfjörd (269 kilometers / 167 miles)
You are heading north, the wildest part of the country. You will go up National 1, which you will soon abandon to reach the most northeastern coast of the island. You will skirt the Snæfellsjökull peak for the first, of the many tracks, which will take your breath away. You will finish the day very close to Grundarfjödur, where just before you can see the Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall.
Day 3, Monday, July 25: Hraunfossar - Barnafoss - Öxarárfoss - Lake Laugarvatn (284 kilometers / 176 miles)
You will continue along the coast, combined tracks and roads, to later head south, entering the first valleys towards the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, with that unmistakable blue of their waters. You will go along the F550, an unpaved track until you meet the emblematic Öxarárfoss waterfall. From there, you go to Lake Laugarvatn where they await you with a succulent dinner.
Day 4, Tuesday, July 26: Gullfoss - Glacier - Varmahlíð (289 kilometers / 180 miles)
After a well-deserved rest, you have breakfast and head north to visit the spectacular Gullfoss waterfalls. You will continue climbing towards the north and will deviate from the main track to visit a glacier with hot springs. You will also take the opportunity to eat. Once your forces are restored, you will continue north, combining brutal tracks until you reach National 1 again and head to your destination in Varmahlíð.
Day 5, Wednesday, July 27: Troll Peninsula - Akureyri - Lake Myvatn (256 kilometers / 159 miles)
Today the day promises absolutely overwhelming landscapes traveling through the Troll Peninsula to reach Akureyri, the fourth most populous city in Iceland, and the largest in the north on the list. From there you will go combining National 1 with tracks to Lake Mývatn, surrounded by volcanic activity and where you will spend the night.
Day 6, Thursday, July 28: Leirhnjúkur - Selfoss - Jökulsárgljúfur - Vatnajökull - Möðrudalur (210 kilometers / 130 miles)
After a well-deserved breakfast, you will head north until you reach the Leirhnjúkur volcanic area to admire the birth of new land between the North American and Euro-Asian plates. You will continue your journey to visit the Selfoss waterfalls and further north the Jökulsárgljúfur / Vatnajökull national park and head south to your destination: Möðrudalur.
Day 7, Friday, July 29: Möðrudalur - Þerribjörg - Fáskrúðsfjörður (260 kilometers / 162 miles)
You start the day crossing a desert area of black stone that will remind you to some extent of the desert between Zagora and Merzouga in Morocco. To go up to the northeast corner of the country and crown the area of the Þerribjörg cliffs with spectacular views, as are also those of the Vattarnes cliffs that you will visit before reaching your destination: Fáskrúðsfjörður.
Day 8, Saturday, July 30: Flögufoss - Folaldafoss - Stokksnes - Höfn (230 kilometers / 143 miles)
You start the day traveling part of the National 1 between beautiful fjords, and then you go inland along a beautiful track that takes you to the spectacular waterfall of Flögufoss and later Folaldafoss to continue traveling the beautiful Icelandic southeast coast. You will admire the spectacular views of Stokksnes to finally reach your destination for the day: Höfn in Hornafjörður.
Day 9, Sunday, July 31: Vatnajökull - Jökulsárlón - Fjallsárlón - Svínafell (170 kilometers / 106 miles)
The days of the route are ending, but every day there are a thousand wonders in which to be amazed. Today in particular you will visit the largest glacier in the country, which covers 8% of the total surface of the island: Vatnajökull. You will continue to visit the spectacular lagoon that joins the glacier with the sea: Jökulsárlón, and its little brother Fjallsárlón and reach your destination in Svínafell.
Day 10, Monday, August a: Fjaðrárgljúfur - Vik (263 kilometers / 163 miles)
Overgrown with glaciers, you will head west to visit the impressive Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon and from there go through an offroad loop with multiple fords that will challenge your piloting and a pleasure for the senses until you reach your destination of the day in Vik to replenish forces of a day as demanding as today.
Day 11, Tuesday, August 2: Friðland að Fjallabaki - Hekla (290 kilometers / 180 miles)
The penultimate day of the tour, combining beautiful views of the South Sea, black sand beaches to then go inland and explore the area of Friðland að Fjallabaki, a nature reserve with a lot of offroad and spectacular views, ending the day near Hekla.
Day 12, Wednesday, August 3: Hekla - Blue Lagoon - Reykjavík (260 kilometers / 162 miles)
Last day of motorcycle, somewhat more relaxed at the offroad level. You will travel the southwest coast of the island until you reach the mythical Blue Lagoon where you can take a relaxing bath and finish your day, and the tour, in the beautiful city of Reykjavík.
Day 13, Thursday, August 4: Back home
After the last breakfast in Reykjavík, you will take the flight back home, with the beautiful memory of the last 12 days spent in the fantastic and cozy Nordic country.

- Trail or Maxi-Trail motorcycle with valid ITV and insurance
- Green Card valid for Iceland
- A2 driving license
- A minimum of off-road piloting experience (send an inquiry and let TwinTrail know if you need a course)
- Adequate motorcycle equipment (helmet, suit, gloves, trail-type boots)
- Must-have studded tires
- Valid passport if you are not a European citizen, but it is advisable to carry it even if you are
