Program

Day 1: Arrival in Los Angeles

Upon arrival in Los Angeles, you will be taken to an airport hotel. There will be an opportunity to freshen up, followed by getting to know the tour guides while enjoying drinks on the hotel terrace. There will also be a short talk on the practicalities of the trip.

Day 2: Los Angeles - Ensenada, Mexico (210 miles / 338 kilometers)

You pick up the machines early in the morning and quickly drive out of the city of Los Angeles after a first briefing. Enjoy a first coffee break in Laguna Beach; from there, you continue to crackle along the coast to San Diego. There, you cross the Mexican border. Nature gives you the first impression of this unpolished country.

Day 3: Ensenada - Calexico (165 miles / 266 kilometers)

A hearty breakfast is followed by an equally hearty ride. Curve inland through the impressive mountain landscape. Take a break in Tecate, the town where the famous Mexican beer originated. A great mountain route leads you to Calexico.

Day 4: Calexico - Prescott (265 miles / 427 kilometers)

The first miles lead you through an agricultural landscape, then the desert follows to Blythe, where you leave California behind and greet Arizona. The final goal of this day is Prescott, which you reach after a great ascent.

Day 5: Prescott - Flagstaff (125 miles / 201 kilometers)

Jerome - an old gold mining town with a unique open-air museum - will be remembered for a long time. Sedona, an ancient village that lies between the famous Red Rocks, is also impressive. Spend the night in the cozy student town of Flagstaff, just before the Grand Canyon.

Day 6: Flagstaff - Tuba City (160 miles / 258 kilometers)

Today, you take a lot of time for unforgettable photos from the 'South Rim' of the Grand Canyon. Make sure you have enough space on your memory card because as one of the wonders of the world this earth crack will take your breath away. Recommended: the performance in the IMAX theater and a helicopter tour to get to know the famous gorge even better.

Day 7: Tuba City - Page (160 miles / 258 kilometers)

Through the Painted Desert, you drive to the next incredible highlight of this trip. The Monument Valley is known as the backdrop for many Hollywood films and reports. Shortly before Page, you try to visit Antelope Canyon at the end of the day.

Day 8: Page - St. George (180 miles / 290 kilometers)

First a short stop at Horseshoe Bent, further over the Colorado River, along Marble Canyon we drive to the famous Zion National Park. A wonderful drive through this truly most beautiful national park leads you to St. George.

Day 9: St. George - Las Vegas (145 miles / 233 kilometers)

Today's entertainment paradise: Las Vegas, a city where you have to be at least once. Huge hotels, spectacular shows, and attractions, architectural excellence with no expense or effort spared. Superlatives are not enough to describe this spectacle.

Day 10: Las Vegas (free day)

Explore this fantastic city, book one of the many shows, ride a limo on the strip or just relax!

Day 11: Las Vegas - Bishop (435 kilometers / 270 miles)

Drive north past Death Valley (officially the warmest place on earth). Through Shoshone and later on the great Highway 266 and 168 through the lonely Piper Mountain Wilderness Area. Spend the night in the cozy town of Bishop. There are plenty of bars here!

Day 12: Bishop - Visalia (275 miles / 443 kilometers)

From Bishop through Yosemite Park, over the 3,300 meters high Tioga Pass. Here you think you are in the Alps, even if the tree line is higher here. It is an impressive mountain tour, with a lot of beautiful nature, lakes and numerous curves (if the pass is closed due to snow, the route will be adjusted).

Day 13: Visalia -Visalia (150 miles / 241 kilometers)

A trip to Sequoia National Park, famous for the giant trees of the same name, the Sequoia Trees. Take plenty of time to admire the Giant Forest and other special features, such as the Sherman Tree (more than 83 meters high). Go downhill on winding roads, back to Visalia, where you spend the night.

Day 14: Visalia - Los Angeles (270 miles / 435 kilometers)

Today, follow your way south, along citrus plantations, to Mariposa. The lesser-known, lonely Frazier Forest begins there. In Ojai, you stop at the biker bar. Then, continue towards LA where we say goodbye to the machines. In the evening there may be the possibility to visit Rodeo Drive, Sunset Boulevard or Hollywood.

Day 15: Los Angeles departure

Transfer to the airport with the hotel shuttle for your return flight to Europe. Or maybe you want to extend your trip? USA on Wheels will of course book your extra requests.
