Program

Day 1: Hanoi - Ninh Binh (100 kilometers / 63 miles)

This motorbike tour is a good tour to discover the beautiful countryside between Hanoi and Hoi An via the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The team will pick you up and start your tour from Hanoi, and ride to Ninh Binh today.

The highlights include a boat trip to explore the famous Ha Long Bay in land in Tam Coc and a visit to the old Rocky Citadel in Hoa Lu. Your professional tour leader will help you to escape the busy traffic in Hanoi by the small back roads to the quiet countryside. You’ll stay overnight at the 2-star hotel in Ninh Binh.

Day 2: Vinh (180 kilometers / 112 miles)

This is the simple road to ride on from Ninh Binh to Vinh. This place is the homeland of Ho Chi Minh. The highlights include a visit to the old temple of a Vietnamese king, a visit the old Ho Citadel, and a visit to the Ho Chi Minh’s House. You’ll stay overnight at the 2-star hotel in Vinh.

Day 3: Phong Nha (180 kilometers / 112 miles)

This is the new road that is built in the direction of the historic Ho Chi Minh trail, from Vinh to Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park. The highlights include enjoying a ride on the historic Ho Chi Minh road, visiting the old battlefields in Dong Loc, sightseeing on the 500-meter high mountains, visiting the old Khe Cat airbase, and enjoying your Vietnamese traditional foods for lunch. You’ll do a homestay with a local family in Phong Nha.

Day 4: Phong Nha (80 kilometers / 50 miles)

You will do the short day tour today at Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park. The highlights include riding through the deep jungle inside Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park and trekking to discover the Paradise Cave. It’s a newly found cave in this area and it was regarded as the largest and longest cave in Phong Nha. The cave was discovered by a local man in 2005.

The first 5 kilometers of this cave was explored by explorers from the British Cave Research Association in 2005; later in 2010 the whole 31 kilometers was explored and announced by the association. This is also the largest cave in the world. You will enjoy the Vietnamese traditional foods for lunch. You’ll do a homestay with a local family in Phong Nha.

Day 5: Khe Sanh (200 kilometers / 125 miles)

This road is the new Ho Chi Minh road that is built in the direction of the original Ho Chi Minh trail, you’ll ride from Phong Nha to Khe Sanh today.

The highlights include riding on the historic Ho Chi Minh trail along Laos border, visiting the famous Khe Sanh Base (here you will learn that it’s Vietnam War not like the Australian who run their own business in Vietnam called it the American War to earn money from tourists), visiting the famous Dakrong Bridge, and visiting the Kotu minority villages. You’ll stay overnight at the 2-star hotel in Khe Sanh.

Day 6: Hue (180 kilometers / 112 miles)

Today, you’ll cross the old border between North and South Vietnam in the Vietnam War. The highlights include enjoying a ride on the historic 'Road 9', visiting the famous Rockpile, visiting the famous D.M.Z and Hien Luong Bridge, and enjoying the boat trip and the royal dinner in the evening in Hue (optional). You will enjoy Vietnamese traditional food for lunch. You’ll stay overnight at the 2-star hotel in Hue.

Day 7: Hoi An (130 kilometers / 81 miles)

Before 2008, nobody knew about this route. Everything has changed since the BBC's Top Gear made their funny show about riding on this route between Hoi An and Hue. Since that, there are lots of tourists who have tried to do the same.

The highlights include riding on the so-called Top Gear road along the coast, Lang Co Beach, and Hai Van Pass on the 500-meter high mountain. Stop for sightseeing at Da Nang Bay, and visit the Marble Mountain. The tour will finish at VietnamRider Travel office in Hoi An.

  • You can upgrade your bike to the Japanese Honda XR dirt bikes 250 cc at an additional cost of 30 to 100 USD per day per rider depending on the season.
  • Minimum of one year of riding experience on any motorcycle models and road conditions is required.
  • Bring a valid unrestricted motorcycle license from your home country.
