This 8-day motorcycle adventure provides a real insight into all aspects of Morocco including twisting mountain roads and passes, off-road riding, and a night in the dunes of the Sahara Desert. If you are looking for an exciting and diverse adventure that includes both an Atlas motorcycle tour and a Morocco desert motorbike tour, then this is the one that should definitely be on top of your to-do list.
Your accommodations throughout the tour will be hotels, riads, and a desert camp based on double occupancy. If you prefer more privacy, you can book the tour with a single supplement at an extra cost of 300 EUR per person.
There are not many places in the world where you can ride from cedar-forested mountain passes to desert dunes in a day. This eight-day tour for experienced riders promises to be a unique adventure unlike any you’ve undertaken before.
Enjoy the exhilarating switchbacks of the Atlas mountain passes before heading into the Sahara desert where you’ll spend a night in the dunes. This tour will test your technical abilities as you go off-piste, crossing rivers and dirt tracks to find hidden oasis and explore the local way of life. Some of the highlights of this trip include the cedar forests of the Atlas, Barbary apes, Dades Valley, a night in the Sahara, the Ouzoud falls and the hidden Oasis de Fint.
On this tour, you will:
Arrive in Casablanca. Transfer to your hotel, where you will be able to settle in and relax by the pool to prepare for your trip in the next morning. You will meet your tour guide and go through a welcome briefing as well as the formalities required before the start and you will receive your welcome pack.
You will be transferred to the workshop and receive your BMW bikes early in the morning before starting your journey to Azrou. You will head towards Rabat on normal roads to warm up so you can get used to your bike as well as local driving habits before turning east to tackle the winding mountain roads that will provide an excellent insight to the great riding Morocco has to offer.
Your stop for the night will be in a nice hotel on the border of the cedar forest where you can relax by the pool or discuss the first day at the bar.
You will start the day with light off-road riding through the forests where you’ll have the opportunity to admire the quiet setting and feed the Barbary apes that live in the area. You will then tackle the climbing roads of the Middle-Atlas passing the high plateau of the mountain range. You will go through the French foreign legion tunnel towards Errachidia before descending to the desert.
Your stop for the day will be a fine hotel in Merzouga where you will stop for a short break and leave the bikes to climb aboard the 4×4 of the guide who will take you to the camp in the dunes of the Sahara. You will admire the sunset from the dunes before dinner and then you will be able to admire the desert skyline at night. Note that in a case of a rare sandstorm, you will likely remain at the hotel which offers a more comfortable setting.
A wake-up call will come early today as you’ll climb the dunes before sunrise to admire the unique effects from atop the dunes before your early breakfast. You will then have a guided tour aboard the 4×4 to visit the dunes and the sights around the area, including the coal and crystal mines.
You will pick up your bikes at the hotel and will head to the rock of the Mummy for some off-road riding and admire the view of the desert from the top of the rocks that offer a unique sight known to only a few or, the route will take you through deserted landscapes before heading to the Todra valley to ride beneath the huge cliffs that offer a unique scenery. You will spend the night at the feet of the Atlas range in a fine hotel.
Despite the short daily distance, the riding will be exceptional. You will start the day by climbing the most photographed hairpins in Morocco at the Dades valley. A relatively short bike ride will take you to your lodging for this evening where you can enjoy a drink by the pool while taking in the wonderful sight of the lake.
In the afternoon you’ll head to the hidden Oasis de Fint through some more technical off-road tracks and smaller river crossings to get an insight into the lives of local villages and explore the oasis.
On your way back you will have the opportunity to visit the Kasbah of Ouarzazate and wonder around the many local souvenir shops. An excellent local dishes will be served for dinner.
Another wonderful touring day awaits you with full of twists and turns on less frequented roads, combined with beautiful surroundings as you climb the High Atlas. Your stop for the day will be in a riad atop the famous waterfalls of Ouzoud where you can opt for a short hike to see this exceptional beauty and to have a break from the day’s ride.
Your last motorcycle adventure tour day will start with a short but exhilarating ride that will then take you to the border of the Bin el Ouidane barrage and there will be plenty of turns and switchbacks to enjoy before you descend to the vast planes that lay between the Atlas and the ocean. Your ride will take you through smaller country roads and the occasional dirt track before arriving back to the HQ to return the bikes.
You will then be taken back to your hotel where you can spend the rest of the evening rewinding the best moments of the trip or you can decide to take the time to explore the city. This will be the last opportunity to invite your guide for a drink at the bar.
Depending on your flight time, you might take the opportunity to relax or visit the city before the arranged pick-up takes you to the airport.
Your motorcycle tour will start and end in Casablanca, Morocco. This trip will take you to the cedar forests of the Atlas, the rock of the Mummy, the valleys of Dades and Todra, the city of Ouarzazate, and you will spend a night in a desert camp between the dunes of the Sahara and hike the beautiful waterfalls of Ouzoud.
