During this tour, you will be staying at different two-star and four-star hotels. Traveling way into the countryside means you won't always be staying in a complete comfort. The best available hotels will be used in the remote country towns. These will be basic, but clean.

Day 1 - Hanoi

Upon your arrival at Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport (HAN), look for a driver who will be waiting for you with a sign bearing your name. The journey from the airport to your hotel will take approximately 45 minutes and is an entertaining experience full of chaotic traffic, distinctive architecture, and overloaded motorbikes. Your afternoon is free to enjoy Hanoi or you could take an optional Hanoi City tour (half day). This evening, you will gather together for a welcome dinner and a pre-trip briefing.

Day 2 - Hanoi to Ba Be (150 kilometers / 93 miles)

At 9:00 a.m., you will depart from Hanoi by bus to avoid the traffic and take the car only highway to just past Thai Nguyen. The journey by bus is around 120 kilometers / 75 miles. There, you will meet up with your bikes, which have been transported on a truck earlier in the morning. You will have lunch there before continuing by motorbike.

The ride takes you on busy country roads through many villages to the peaceful Ba Be National Park. This area is richly forested and features striking limestone scenery and Vietnam’s largest natural lake. Tonight, you will enjoy the hospitality of the Tay minority at your stilt house homestay in Pac Ngoi village.

Day 3 - Ba Be to Bao Lac

Back at the homestay, you will pack up and jump on the bikes for a short journey out of the park to stop for lunch in a nearby village. Then, it is on the bikes again for a day of picturesque riding through lush greenery, local villages, and mountain roads to Bao Lac, in the province of Cao Bang.

This tiny town is home to the Black Lolo hill tribe who live in stilt houses in the surrounding hills. The Lolo ethnic minority are descendants from Yunnan province and follow an Animist style faith, worshipping the gods of the mountain and forests and the ghosts of their ancestors.

Day 4 - Bao Lac to Dong Van (100 kilometers / 62 miles)

You will leave Bao Lac and travel through some seriously gorgeous karst scenery that gives you a sensational contrast to the lush farmlands. This is truly iconic Vietnamese scenery and takes you past a gigantic statue of Ho Chi Minh and numerous communist inspired billboards. The ride culminates in a thrilling ride up through the Ma Pi Leng Pass, regarded as the most beautiful pass in Vietnam, stopping for jaw-dropping photos of the surrounds.

The road runs on the sides of black limestone mountains, which are typical features of Dong Van Plateau. You will stay overnight in the ancient town of Dong Van, famous for its historic architecture and preservation of age-old customs and habits, intangible cultural values of the ethnic minority groups.

Day 5 - Dong Van to Yen Minh (50 kilometers / 31 miles)

After breakfast, you can take a trek up to enjoy the magnificent view from the former French military tower and then return to town to enjoy some of the best coffee in Vietnam. The ride today is through Dong Van’s stone plateau which features dramatic and stark scenery. You will take a tour of an H’mong ancient palace in the Sa Phin Valley. There will be plenty of opportunities for photos today.

Day 6 Yen Minh to Hoang Su Phi (190 kilometers / 118 miles)

It is an early start today, with winding roads taking you down the valley and along majestic rivers through the town of Ha Giang. You will continue south on the highway for a further 45 kilometers where you will take a country road to a comfortable and isolated resort.

Day 7 Hoang Su Phi to Hanoi (60 kilometers / 37 miles)

The return journey to Hanoi takes you back to Hanoi via Tuyen Quang where you will stop for lunch and load the bikes on the truck and take the bus back to the hustle and bustle of the big city via the freeway. Motorbikes are checked over and returned. The day ends with a final dinner.

Day 8 - Departure

You will be transferred to the airport three hours prior to the departure of your international flight or two hours for domestic.
