During this tour, you will be staying at several different accommodations. You will spend some nights at a family's home. Some nights will be at a hotel. The homestays are hosted by ethnic people in a traditional stilt house (Tay, Dao, Thai, Mong). For the rest of the tour, you will be staying at several local hotels.

Although Vietnam is a developing country and you will visit some remote places, the quality of the accommodation has improved greatly. In small towns, you will be staying at local private guest houses. The rooms are double and are provided with air conditioning, a private bathroom with hot water, and mosquito nets on each bed.

In some locations, the local homestays are available and the sleeping arrangements are made usually in a house on stilts, all in one room. Each person will have a mattress, a pillow, and mosquito nets, and will be sharing a toilet or shower.

Program

Night 0: Ha Noi - Ha Giang (320 kilometers / 199 miles)

Leave Hanoi around 8.30 p.m. in the evening by a comfortable sleeper bus. The bus takes about 8.5 hours. Zonitrip's guide will pick you from your hotel or you can move to our bus office

Day 1: Ha Giang - Quan Ba - Đong Van (135 kilometers / 84 miles)

Arrive Ha Giang city around 3 - 4 a.m. in the morning. You can take sleep more in our hostel. At 7:00 a.m., get ready and pick up your motorbike from Ha Giang city. After sorting out with your bikes, go and get full tanks of gas for your bikes. Have your breakfast and coffee.

Leaving Ha Giang, the road climbs over the Quan Ba pass (Heaven’s Gate). Have a short hike to Heaven's Gate to see the beautiful scenery including Quan Ba town. The road winds over a saddle and opens up on to an awesome vista.

The whole Dong Van Karst Plateau is a major heritage sight in Vietnam. You will see unending rice fields, thousands of limestone rocks and breath-taking views. You can observe the life of hill-tribe villages where local people work on the land. The driver can also take you to the Chinese border and the famous northernmost viewpoint in Vietnam. Few kilometers before the Dong Van Town, you will stop in Hmong King’s Palace, a home for Voung’s family in Sa Phin. It’s an H’ mong family of high rank during French colonial rule – this palace attracts keen interest from architecturally minded visitors due to its mixed style of European and Chinese architecture and the history of this land.

If you want to experience sleep in the homestay of Hmong people, explore their culture via learning their traditional music dance, wearing their traditional clothes, Zonitrip will arrange sleep in Hmong Dong Van homestay. If you want to have a comfortable and private room in the Hotel, Zonitrip will book a room in the hotel 2 - 3star in Dong Van.

Day 2: Dong Van - Lung Cu - Meo Vac (around 90 kilometers / 56 miles)

After breakfast, you leave for Lung Cu flag pole around 8 a.m. It’s another amazing ride. Lung Cu flag pole is about 25 kilometers from the center of Dong Van district.

Lung Cu mount is likened as “a high forehead of the motherland” where marks the extreme north of the country. From its top, visitors can see the whole of the beautiful and spectacular landscape. When you are in Lung Cu, you can also leave your bikes and walk to visit a small village of LO LO people, one of the minority ethnic people in North Vietnam.

Turn around back to Dong Van, then, drive to the peak of Ma Pi Leng which gives stunning views of the mountains and sweeping valleys. It is the most beautiful part of the whole journey, located on the Happiness road connecting the towns of Dong Van and Meo Vac, Ma Pi Leng Pass. The legendary pass is well known for craggy cliffs and breath-taking views. It is the most ragged pass in the north, often referred to as the “king” of the passes in Vietnam! The whole road is winding through the cliffs and overcomes Ma Pi Leng pass at an altitude of 2,000 meters.

To show you the full beauty of the pass, you will trek the breathtaking Sky Path to admire the scenery of the whole valley and Nho Que river. From the amazing mountain viewpoint, you will be able to experience a 360° panorama of Ma Pi Leng Pass and take unforgettable pictures. Standing on the peak of the pass, you will feel overwhelmed by the majestic space of mountains and rivers.

You will continue our journey to more distant villages. From there, you will know how people live in remote parts of Vietnam.

Day 3: Meo Vac - Nho Que River - Du Gia (150 kilometers / 93 miles)

Leave Meo Vac around 7 a.m. in the morning after your breakfast. On the third day of your journey, Zonitrip will take the road back to Ha Giang but it doesn’t mean the end of attractions! The route from Meo Vac to Ha Giang is so amazing with the huge rock mountain and winding pass. You could visit and play with local children or school beside the route, the ethnic children in here are very friendly and lovely.

If it’s Sunday, you can have the chance to enjoy the unique and special local Market in Meo Vac, it only happens on Sunday and be called "Sunday Market". There are very colorful and various culture of ethnic minorities, it will be a special experience for you.

If there is not market, you will leave Meo Vac around 7:30 a.m. in the morning after your breakfast. You will ride down and take the Boating trip in Nho Que river, it’s located in the bottom of Ma Pi Leng pass with Tu San canyon. It’s a new interesting destination in your Ha Giang tour. Tu San canyon is considered the deepest and most unique canyon in Vietnam. Nho Que river start from China runs through Meo Vac area, Ha Giang. You will trek down from the main road to the bottom of the river, take the boat and enjoy the poetic beauty with the green color of Nho Que river. You can choose Kayaking activity if you want!

You will continue your journey “Ha Giang Motorbike Loop” to more distant villages. From Meo Vac Town, you will continue through the mountainous rural area of Ha Giang province to Du Gia town, where you will spend a night in a homestay. The motorbike road to Du Gia is very beautiful and challenging for drivers. It runs up to the high mountain, then go down the winding roads and forests. If you go to Du Gia in Summer, you can jump and swim in a beautiful waterfall here.

DAY 4: Du Gia - Lung tam - Ha Giang

On the fourth day of your journey, You will take the road back to Ha Giang but it doesn’t mean the end of attractions! The route from Du Gia to Ha Giang is so amazing with the huge rock mountain and winding pass. You could visit and play with local children or school beside the route, the ethnic children in here are very friendly and lovely.

You can stop at Lùng Tám village where Mong ethnic people live. You can learn the way to make the traditional craft and clothes by hemp and draw the pattern by bee wax of Hmong people.

You expect to arrive at Ha Giang around 5:00 p.m.. Take plenty of breaks on the way back. Wash up and have dinner at a local restaurant, then return your bikes at the bike rental place. Your sleeper bus Ha Giang to Sapa leaves at 8:00 p.m..

You begin your journey Ha Giang to Sapa with a good night sleep on the bus. Arrive in Sapa at 3:00 - 4:00 a.m. on the next day.

DAY 5: Sapa motorbike tour to Lao Chai and Ta Van villages - Ban Ho Homestay

After take a breakfast, you will take the rental motorbike and continue do the trip Hagiang to Sapa motorbike next 2 days.

When reach the village in Lao Chai, Ta Van. You will explore the traditional culture of Hmong and Day people, like art performances for festivals or some holidays and exchanged the knowledge and experience about how to cultivate hemp, weave brocades and print beeswax on the cloths. Your tour guide will take you and visit one of typical Black H’mong house and tell you a story about the H’mong people are living in there.

You will keep on riding down the hill, enjoy the fantastic open views in Ban Ho the most beautiful valley in which you will spend a night on the bamboo house of Tay people. The rest of the time, You’ll take a short walk to the nearby waterfall for sightseeing and experiencing the daily activities of the locals.

DAY 6: Ban Ho - Sapa

After breakfast, you ride up to to the Red Dzao village at Nam Ken & Xa Pho the village of Xa Pho tribe the smallest group in Sapa who have very little contact with modern Vietnam. You’ll ride back to Sapa.

When you are back in Sapa town, you can choose some option:

Travel by cable car to reach mountain Fansipan, the highest mountain in North Vietnam ( 3,143 meters above the sea). You will have a chance to see the majestic and stunning landscape from the sky and on the top, below are rice terrace valley. It is an interesting experience when visit Sapa. Since it is optional, there is an extra fee of 35 USD per person.

Next option is that you can ride your motorbike to Heaven Gate in O Quy Ho pass, one of the four greatest and longest passes. Spend more time to enjoy landscape and majestic of Hoang Lien Son. It’s located 11 kilometers far from Sapa town. On the way, you can take a short walk to visit Silver Waterfall or Love waterfall. You can choose to visit Glass bridge, the tallest bridge in Vietnam, 2,200 meters above the sea level and is 60 meters in length. Since it is optional, there is an extra fee of 35 USD per person.

This journey will start an end in Hanoi. Along the way, you will visit Ha Giang, Quan Ba, Lao Và Chai, Yên Minh, Đong Van Lung Cu, Meo Vac, Lao Cai City, Sa Pa, Ta Van Villages, Ban Ho, Nam Toong, Nam Ken, and Thanh Phu.

Hà Giang Province is in the proof of North Vietnam. The way from Ha Giang to Dong Van is super awesome and then Đong Van to Meo Vac is unbelievable, including the mountains, the roads, and tribes.

Most of the meals will be Asian food, including rice, meat, fish, vegetable, and local specials. In most of the rural and mountainous area, there will be difficulty to find seafood or luxury food.
